stuff i dislike[edit]
For what it's worth I've done things about most of these:
- Almost all of this
- Musky meter
- How often a random CR gets boldly slapped on a monster (anywhere, not just on this wiki); at least look at DMG'14 pg 274 if you haven't already
- Machine-generated images
- the unpopularity of Side Initiative (DMG'14 page 270)
- the paralyzed condition, and action-denial generally
- 5e's default rules for initiative & turns
- 5e's default rules for downtime
- 5e's default rules for carrying capacity
- 5e's ability score imbalance
- Pathfinder 2e. There's so many good ideas, but so many bad ideas. It's like they never realized what made PF1 so great.
- I cannot fault D&D's leaning towards a wider, softer, and more casual market it. But I can still dislike it.
- Losing a fight = death = make a new character, and that this most likely happens to inexperienced players who are the most likely to lose interest when imposed with this hurdle (and/or would take the longest to make a new character)
- This thing:
late game balance[edit]
- At 13th level a full casting class can teleport across the world, become ethereal, bring back almost anyone who died within the past century, and/or make a simulacrum and more. It only gets more ridiculous with every level.
- At 13th level a martial class gets slightly better attacks or saves.
There is no late-game balance in 5e or 3e. While I highlighted classes, this assertion extends to items and creatures.
I have little faith in official content made for these levels, let alone homebrew. I can still sometimes appreciate the ideas that go into them at least.
