Porpoises are remarkably intelligent aquatic animals that dwell in saltwater. They live primarily near the surface as they need to frequently breach in order to breathe. These creatures primarily hunt small fish, which they locate with a natural sonar capability. Different varieties of porpoise may live alone or in small herd-like groups. They are relatively friendly to most humanoids, and are known to be domesticated by some merfolk.
A typical porpoise is 4 to 7 feet long and weighs between 150 and 400 pounds. These statistics can be used for a dolphin or a small whale of similar size.
