Dynamic Fall (5e Variant Rule)

From D&D Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Whenever you would begin falling outside of your turn, you instead don't begin falling until your next turn. During that turn you can take only one action before you start falling. Alternatively, you can take this action during the fall itself. You can't use this action to move, except with a fly speed.

This action could for example be to cast the fly spell on yourself, to conjure something softer for you to land on, to grab a handhold on your way down, or to make a dramatic attack as you go hurtling off the edge, among many other possibilities.

This rule applies to all creatures. Uncarried objects still fall immediately.
