Clockwork Winding
Conjuration cantrip
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (a small mechanical gear)
Duration: Instantaneous

You magically launch a small gear at a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 slashing damage and the gear embeds itself in the target. You can subsequently use a bonus action to cause one embedded gear in range to grind, dealing 1d6 slashing damage to the target it is embedded in. The target can use an action to remove the gear.

At Higher Levels. The spell's damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
