Duplicate Self (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
7th-level Necromancy | |
Casting time: | 1 action |
---|---|
Range: | Self |
Components: | V, S, M (two identical halves of an agate gemstone worth 2000 gp) |
Duration: | 1 hour |
Agonizingly dividing all the matter of your body in half, you make up the difference with material pulled from the Shadowfell, creating an identical duplicate of yourself in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you. Your current and maximum hit points are halved, as are those of the duplicate. Magical equipment and resources like hit dice, spell slots, sorcery points, and mystic arcanums are not duplicated, rather, you decide how they are divided amongst you and the duplicate.
You control the duplicate and it has all of your current game statistics. If either you or the duplicate dies, or ends the spell as an action, the spell ends early. Once the spell ends, the body with the least hit points and all duplicated equipment disintegrates into wisps of shadowy filament and your original matter and soul transfers over into the remaining body, returning your hit point maximum back to normal. You must then succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or gain a level of exhaustion.
At Higher Levels. Casting this spell with a slot of 8th level increases the duration to 8 hours. Casting it with a slot of 9th level increases the duration to 24 hours.
