Upon casting the spell spell, a surge of transmutation magic emerges from your fingertips to fill a 30-foot radius centered on you. Any creature in this radius when you cast the spell must make a Wisdom saving throw, if it has a challenge rating (or level) equal to or less than the level of this spell. Any creature with a challenge rating (or level) of 1 or lower automatically fails this save. Any shapechanger automatically succeeds this save. On a failed save, a creature is transformed into a slimy little bot for the duration.
An affected creature's game statistics, including mental ability scores, are replaced by the statistics of a bot. It retains its alignment and personality. The creature is limited in the actions it can perform by the nature of its new form, and it can't speak, cast spells, or take any other action that requires hands or speech. The target's gear melds into the new form. The creature can't activate, use, wield, or otherwise benefit from any of its equipment.
When a creature returns to its original form, its hit points are reduced by an amount equal to the damage it incurred while it was a bot. If while a bot the creature died, it remains dead when it returns to its original form.
