Breadcrumb and Categories[edit]

Hey Ref3erence! I am cleaning up things and noticed that there's many pages you've created without these. They help navigate and sort/organize the wiki so if you could add them that would be great. All you need to do is copy and paste whats below if it isn't already on a page. I'd really appreciate the help in keeping the wiki cleaned up. ~ BigShotFancyMan 12:14, 2 July 2019 (MDT)

Naruto: Shinobi[edit]

I wanted to find a way to contact you and ask you questions about the naruto dnd that you help create so if you have a instagram or something could you tell me it plz or I can talk to you on this either way is fine. Mine is Rockinthehouse2

Thanks for telling me.

Hey, sorta been a long time since I've been on the wiki, I was actually the original creator of the Naruto Shinobi. I originally only needed the template layout, I figured I'd delete it after I out it into a file for my later use, but I saw some people liked it. Anyhow, I'm really glad to see people have been working on it, so I just wanted to pop by and say I'm glad to see someone expanding and balancing it. Good Job- Arsenal

Thanks! I originally picked it up to fix up a handful of formatting issues, but since then it's kinda become one of my magnum opuses. To be honest, I'm not great at adapting content from scratch, but once there's a general outline, I can easily burn off a huge amount of content all at once. I couldn't have made this class what it is today without what you did way back in January of 2017, and for that you have so much of my thanks. --Ref3rence (talk) 22:02, 21 December 2020 (MST)

Hello, I've been a big fan of the class before the Genkai's was fully developed at the time. And I've loved what you guys have done over the years. I wanted to give you a bunch of stuff to maybe help further improve the class and add more mechanics. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zk6hO96B7jxV4g4uZLGBB9OBGJrUMV52mAiuYR1gLtI/edit?usp=drivesdk

I'm still adding more things as I go but I wanted to hear your thoughts about it.- TheInfamousSage1

Sorry for the delay, I haven't had much time or inspiration to make much homebrew recently. I'll be sure to take a look at it when I get the chance.--Ref3rence (talk) 00:01, 3 March 2022 (MST)
Take all the time you need man. But I think you and the others are going to like what's there a bit. -TheInfamousSage1
I see a lot of really interesting ideas here, though a lot of them seam a lot better as their own thing than as additions. I've been wanting to add jutsu ranks for a while, but we've already been trying to sort out hand seal and non-hand seal jutsu so that might be a minute. There's some other interesting stuff that I might adapt if that's alright (mostly jutsu), so thanks for sharing this with me!--Ref3rence (talk) 11:29, 6 March 2022 (MST)
No problem, I'm working on Kekkei Gankeis(Combined Transformation Natures) and clan stuff at the moment. And had ideas for a prestige base classes for things like sage mode and MS. There should be a special Feat that can give you a option for one just, need to add the first. -TheInfamousSage1

If you have any questions on how things works I can go into details as best as I can for typing. There are things I want to note that should be followed. Like how only Buki and Tai can have Combos and Finishers. -TheInfamousSage1

Discussing the saiyan fighter second variant class[edit]

if you have a discord, would be more then happy to talk with you about the edits to the class, you will find me as Hypnoshadow on discord in the dnd wiki discord

Moving Work In Progress Stands (5e Subclass)[edit]

Hey there reference, I am here to ask you about potentially moving the Work In Progress Stands (5e Subclass) to a better place. I was thinking that since there was a need for a workplace of some sorts to work on stands, why not make it so the WIP page is a subpage to Stand User Variant (5e Class) as opposed to having the page on its own? The new name in question would be Stand User Variant (5e Class)/Work In Progress Stands and a link to the subpage could be provided on the talk page of Stand User Variant (5e Class) saying that all incomplete ideas or thoughts on possible new stands could be put here. I hope you will consider the thought as it will make it much easier for users to find the WIP page and for users to find which class page the WIP page belongs to. Thanks again.--Blobby383b (talk) 14:39, 30 September 2019 (MDT)

Wraith Suit[edit]

You completely changed how my armor works! It's not per rest, it has a set recharge time, and when you screw with that you get a spell, not an armor. Next time you want to alter one of my articles that changes it mechanically, let me know. I write these things in this way for a reason, and you may not see the reason, but that doesn't mean you should just change it without talking to me first! Flamestarter (talk) 14:44, 25 October 2019 (MDT)Flamestarter

While I understand where you're coming from, my main reason for changing it was because "once per day" is imprecise, though your most recent edit fixed that. The other reason was that mechanically a long rest is 8 hours long at least, thus players taking more than one long rest per day is very unlikely. Ultimately, I changed it to be somewhat more mechanically to how it works in X-Com, but that's subjective. If I did modify it to be more inline with your reasoning, I would use the wording "until the same time the next day", but it's up to you. -Ref3rence (talk) 14:57, 25 October 2019 (MDT)
Well, thank you, and I'm sorry for losing it. Just make sure to make a detailed note of what you've done and why in the discussion area, or I will undo it. I really hate it when I get edits snuck into my articles. Flamestarter (talk) 15:52, 25 October 2019 (MDT)Flamestarter

My One for All Class[edit]

Hey there, I see you left a comment on my One for All page. I'm not sure how you located it since it is a user page, and since it is such I would prefer if it isn't edited. The class is going through lots of changes as it's playtested and worked on. While you're welcome to use it or suggest changes on the talk page, I request it not be edited directly. Thanks and sorry for the inconveniences. Celestial Mechanist (talk) 17:12, 26 October 2019 (MDT)

Homunculus (5e Class)[edit]

Ahoy Reference! This page has been untouched for months and I was curious if you have plans to return to it? Red Leg Leo (talk) 08:07, 3 March 2020 (MST)

I have been meaning to go back and continue working on it, I just got stuck in a rut on what to add. Rest assured, one day I will complete it. -Ref3rence (talk) 09:50, 3 March 2020 (MST)
Sounds good. If you could just touch up something that'd take it of a dpl that tracks WIPs or having it on a subuser page wouldn't require a WIP. Red Leg Leo (talk) 10:37, 3 March 2020 (MST)

Image attribution[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to give you some info on using images and properly giving attribution. If the image is a screenshot from a show or movie, that counts under Fair Use and should be uploaded to the wiki so that the link can't be broken. If it is an image from somewhere else, you should provide a link to the official page for the artist and attempt to link directly to the original image. --PJammaz (talk) 09:43, 4 April 2020 (MDT)

Sorry for the delay. While I understand the risk of redlinking, I don’t believe that having a fair use image not uploaded to the wiki counts as incorrect attribution. --Ref3rence (talk) 13:21, 5 April 2020 (MDT)
The important part is providing links to the original source. Just mentioning the name of the artist or series is not enough. --PJammaz (talk) 14:28, 5 April 2020 (MDT)
Fair enough. --Ref3rence (talk) 14:47, 5 April 2020 (MDT)

Variant Features for Homebrews[edit]

I'd disagree they aren't for homebrews. I think Soul Siphon doesn't need its own article though. But if there is a user war over what can be put on a page, I'd understand a user doing something like this. Red Leg Leo (talk) 12:02, 27 April 2020 (MDT)

It also looks as though three minutes took place before a users idea was thrown in the garbage. I've encouraged people in the past not to rush so quickly to delete or stamp IRR templates on newly created pages. Users would be more encouraged to collaborate if our community did the same. Red Leg Leo (talk) 12:05, 27 April 2020 (MDT)
I apologize for my conduct, the edit was hasty and unnecessarily hostile. My intent was that variant features for homebrew classes should be on their respective class page, not that they shouldn't exist at all, and that as such the content should be moved there, thus making the page redundant and deletable. I will work to correct my behavior in the future.--Ref3rence (talk) 12:17, 27 April 2020 (MDT)
That would have made a lot more sense, and much easier to understand when going through CfD. Red Leg Leo (talk) 12:41, 27 April 2020 (MDT)

The Titanshifter (5e Class) Edit War[edit]

Hey there Ref3rence, I just wanted to let you know that I am thankful for what you did when you were dealing with User:DEUSVULT9000's edits on the titanshifter class. Specifically, you did do the right things in explaining your reasoning on the talk page after the initial edits, and when that didn't work, you contacted the user to try and reach them, and finally you contacted an admin to try and resolve the situation. If you do encounter situations like this in the future though, try to contact the user or an admin to help with the situation sooner before a full blown edit war ensues on the page in question.--Blobby383b (talk) 21:38, 9 May 2020 (MDT)

Will do, thanks again. --Ref3rence (talk) 21:40, 9 May 2020 (MDT)

On the Saiyan Fighter...[edit]

So I'm a huge munchkin and love making incredibly powerful characters, and I was wondering which of the variants are the most powerful? Sorry if this sounds dumb. Also, which of the subclasses do you recommend? They all sound cool and I cant decide. Thanks in advance! --Mushroomwizard (talk) 22:03, 10 July 2020 (MDT)

Saiyan Fighter, Variant (5e Class) was the original, with Saiyan Fighter, 2nd Variant (5e Class) having extended (and typically more powerful) subclasses. If you plan on going above 20th level, I'd suggest Ascended Saiyan (5e Class) over its variant simply for more options (balance-wise they're about the same). Any of the subclasses are about as good as the others, but I personally have a soft spot for Successor and Traveler. --Ref3rence (talk) 23:03, 10 July 2020 (MDT)

Alright, sounds good. Thank you. I have been dming my group for little over a year now and I wanna try something new by making a BBEG from a cool themed homebrew class. Found this one and it fit very well. Thank you! --Mushroomwizard (talk) 23:15, 10 July 2020 (MDT)

Naruto Shinobi Pdf[edit]

Hey! ive been working on a pdf using the regular 5e format, and the Bestiary is taking forever, but im including as much info from the shinobi world setting you made, as i possibly can without spending forever on it. If you wanna check it out so far feel free to pm me on twitter @AshBoyo Thanks for the setting forreal tho been playing it and its by far my fave way to play dnd 5e. 5:14 am EST 8/30/2020

I'm really glad you're enjoying it! I might check it out if I get the chance. --Ref3rence (talk) 12:49, 30 August 2020 (MDT)

On the Shinigami, Variant (5e class)[edit]

Worked up a lot on it. Also mentioned in the discussion for the class what all I addressed from your concerns. -- Wes1996 (talk) 14:06, 14 September 2020 (EST)

Worked on the newest concerns as well. Hope they look a bit better with the examples and moving around of the wording on Soul Ignition. -- Wes1996 (talk) 17:24, 14 September 2020 (EST)

I just finished up the last few abilities on Bakudo and Hado Master. I would love for you to look over them and leave any thoughts in the discussion on the class page. -- Wes1996 (talk) 13:31, 25 September 2020 (EST)

The new additions look great. --Ref3rence (talk) 11:46, 25 September 2020 (MDT)

Languages as they Relate to JoJo content[edit]

On my neverending crusade of enforcing good homebrew, I came across a certain Narancia_Ghirga_(5e_Creature). Let me get this out of the way, I'm a huge JoJo fan, and thus love seeing stuff based off it. Howevwe, one thing stuck out to me like a sore thumb, that being the use of Italian as opposed to Common. After a small editing war, the conclusion was reached that this was for a unique setting, to which I say: Make a note of it.

Thanks,

Someone404 (talk) 07:56, 10 November 2020 (MST)

Except it is very clearly marked. The use of the supplement category keeps said page from showing up effectively anywhere beyond the setting itself, it has the JJBA Setting category, and its breadcrumbs lead to the JJBA campaign setting. Maybe check for markings before complaining that they aren't there next time. --Ref3rence (talk) 08:06, 10 November 2020 (MST)

Warning[edit]

Hi Ref3erence, this is a warning for profane language on Talk:5e Mashup Classes]. D&D Wiki has a [[Help:Behavioral Policy|behavioral policy] that can be reviewed to help with this, as well as a warning policy. Red Leg Leo (talk) 09:22, 10 December 2020 (MST)

My apologies, in my lexicon it was about as mundane as referring to a dimension of infinite suffering as hell. Nevertheless, I recognize my error and will ensure I no longer use such language on this wiki. —Ref3rence (talk) 15:07, 10 December 2020 (MST)

Formatting Issues[edit]

Hi. You fixed the image on my Mokele Mbembe. I don't mean to sound rude, but the same thing appears to be happening to my new ropen creature, and I was wondering if you could fix it? —Dinomaster337 (talk) 10:23, 24 March 2021 (MST)

There's nothing rude about asking for help. It looks like SwankyPants fixed it before I could, but for future reference, fandom wiki images typically end in .jpg/revision/bunchastuff or .png/revision/bunchastuff, but anything past the file type (.jpg/.png) should be removed to make the image show up.--Ref3rence (talk) 08:33, 24 March 2021 (MDT)
I see. Thanks :) —Dinomaster337 (talk) 10:50, 24 March 2021 (MST)

Dragon ball campaign setting[edit]

Hey there, I'm Paul from the Naruto campaign setting, I absolutely love your work and I've recently seen you work on a dragon ball setting which is still work in progress. And I'm a huge fan of the show, as much if not more as I'm a fan of Naruto, and even more so of playing D&D themed as it. I've been looking for a proper setting for the past two years but haven't got any luck and the few I found weren't that good. So I've been wondering if i could contribute to the setting, if so, a guideline or two on where i should start would be appreciated. P@uL (talk) 02:41, 1 June 2021 (MDT)

Absolutely! Right now, the main focus is on the Bestiary, though if you wanted to get started on Adventures or Treasures that'd be great too. Just like with Naruto, all creatures are built from the ground up as players, with CR = level. If you start making a creature only to realize that a big technique of theirs/a reasonable equivalent isn't in the class page, feel free to add it (I feel there are enough techniques already in place to make a reasonable comparison when making a new one). Any NPCs from late DB classic/early Z onward should be at least level 15, with levels 1-10 being almost exclusively for characters considered incredibly weak (i.e. Beets or World Martial Arts Tournament competitors that do not pass the elimination round). Hope this helps, I'm really excited to have another pair of hands on this.--Ref3rence (talk) 08:55, 1 June 2021 (MDT)

Got it. Thanks! P@uL (talk) 13:08, 1 June 2021 (MDT)

I've started working on the bestiary, I use point buy for the starting stats. Here's the stat block if you want to take a look Nappa (Dragon Ball Supplement)

And please do look at the class' talk page when you find the time. P@uL (talk) 10:13, 2 June 2021 (MDT)

Fullmetal Cloak, Variant (5e Equipment)[edit]

Recently I've been rooting around in the incomplete magic items, and found this thing. It seemed like an easy fix, but I checked the history and found that you were the one that made it. Figured I'd check if it was alright if I screwed with it a bit. --SwankyPants (talk) 20:19, 24 July 2021 (MDT)

I can't find any actual evidence of it, but I'm 99% sure I "made" that page during a bit of an edit war around the now-deleted original Fullmetal Cloak. Regardless, bombs away, go for it.--Ref3rence (talk) 20:25, 24 July 2021 (MDT)

Topic[edit]

Thats adorable, now you AND your little friends are trying to mess with my page, im glad i can make you triggered and waste your time like this! :D

Aye, you finally figured out how talk pages work! Swanky just cares about civility and vandalism on this wiki. If you've read anything I brought up on your talk page, you'd know that the only thing I'm "triggered" about is figuring out what you're taking issue with. Now's your chance, what specific edits do you take issue with?--Ref3rence (talk) 11:58, 30 September 2021 (MDT)

Elvis Remarks[edit]

Greetings, Ref3rence. I want to start off by thanking you for voicing your opinion on the Elvis Presley statblock that I made, I was hoping for someone to do that so I could explain some details.

First off, your complaint about DnD wiki becoming a political forum because of pages like mine. To reply to that, the stats I make do not have that intent behind them. I'm simply fascinated with the idea of real people existing alongside fictional creatures and people. The real Elvis Presley could certainly not cast spells and was probably unskilled with a blade. You said that he would make more sense in a mystified version of the real world, and that's sort of what I have going. I don't know how you thought I would do otherwise. The first and foremost goal of my stats is to provide creatures for DM's to use, getting something across is secondary.

Now to your comments on drugs and art. First to art. I never said art was intrinsically evil, but I do hold to the reality that all evil things are good things twisted. I happen to quite enjoy good music, and I respect artists and musicians everywhere, even those like Presley. However, art of any kind can be twisted to something evil. So what is twisted art? Porn is a great example. Why is it evil? Because it reprograms the neurotransmitters to make people view love, marriage, and family as though they are mechanical processes. What comes out of twisted music? Rebellion, inability to concentrate, and anarchy, to name a few.

So what about drugs? You said that drugs are what people go to in despair. One answer to this is that there is anokther reason for drug abuse: witchcraft. Our own word "pharmacy" comes from a Greek word for sorcery: "pharmacon". Another answer to you statement on drugs is that there is always a choice in whether to use them or not. Elvis could've turned to something else (like his own music or the Most High) so his decision to be an addict was totally not forced by any means. As for my calling his ddiction a mark of evil control, many of the Adversary's greatest minions are drugs addicts.

Now for your comment on me attacking someone personally by representing him with my opinions. I tried to base Elvis on facts, and if anything sounds like an opinion, I got it from someone else (not another user). Also, I have nothing personal against Elvis or anyone like him. And even if I did, I wouldn't use it as reason for representing them with statblocks.

I hope this clears some things up for you. If you have any further complaints, I'm all over seeing them. Best wishes.

Are you okay? — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 23:44, 20 October 2021 (MDT)
I would much rather we discuss this on the relevant talk page, but I'm glad we are at least discussing it at all.
While sure, Elvis never knew how to cast spells, the description is almost 1-for-1 with heavily opinionized ideas spread about Elvis at his peak. The reason I brought up Appalachia is because there is at least the attempt at lore created to fit the mysticism and the roles of people within it. Meanwhile, what you present is given no greater context beyond the man himself. Me giving a page about Joseph McCarthy that paints him as "the legendary commie killer" a fireball doesn't make it anything other than a heavily opinionated page on a real person.
I'll admit that I was wrong about your portrayal of music, though the leap isn't that hard to make when every other aspect of Elvis's life presented is demonized. That being said, your idea that evil is the corruption of good doesn't hold up particularly well either. What's the good version of murder? Sure there's self defense, but that is stopping a greater evil with a lesser evil. Also, to say that rebellion and anarchy are brought about by music is a very big claim. Music gives a channel to emotions one already feels, so while it could be the final push, they would already need to feel as if the rule over them is unfair. If I told you I listened to Death Grips and King Gizzard on a weekly basis, does that make me a criminal despite happily working my 9-5? Clearly not.
I understand that you are deeply religious, and I'm doing my best to be respectful, but you aren't making it easy on me. So before I get into your response on drugs, know that some very close family members have been drug addicts, and I've seen the process from start to cold end. With that being said, we don't define words by their etymology. Etymology is the process through which the meaning and structure of words changes (see the historical definitions of "assume"). In this case, traditional sorcery, while seen as something magical, has been proven time and again to have been knowledge of substances' effects on the human body (particularly in cultures where they weren't exterminated). When we started understanding how compounds effect the human body on a scientific basis, we pulled from the name of those who came before.
Your idea that it was a flat, unbiased yes/no choice shows me that you have no idea of Elvis's life. The man was barely out of boot camp (which in my experience is the lowest a man will ever be outside of some incredibly extreme things) when his mother died, whom he was very close to, shortly after which a superior officer offered him amphetamines. This was not a fair choice, and certainly not the kind of thing turning to his music (that he couldn't do since he was still in the military) or belief outside of a miracle could help with. If you would like to present exactly how you know that many of Satan's minions are drug addicts, go ahead, but be warned that "addiction = bad, Satan = bad, therefore Satan = addiction" isn't that compelling.
Just because you got an opinion from someone else doesn't make it less of an opinion, it just means you didn't analyze what you were presented with. The idea that anything I don't like is someone else's fault is also a bad take, since you're still the one that decided that it was right by including it. Calling someone a "perverted dopehead" and a minion of Satan sure doesn't sound like you have nothing against them. I'll concede that you probably weren't trying to be offensive, that you probably don't have anything against Elvis, but we measure people by their actions, not by whether or not they stated intent. AcidRat never said he had anything against you when he called you a "religious fanatic", and yet what he said and how he said it clearly shows contempt. I'm glad you're reaching out, and I look forward to reaching a conclusion.--Ref3rence (talk) 10:12, 21 October 2021 (MDT)

It's me again[edit]

For sometime I've been thinking of making a soccer based class and some soccer game mechanics. Based on Inazuma Eleven a bit, but I've no idea where to go with that yet, seeing as you're very active with pages recently I decided to ask if you'll be interested in helping out with that. P@uL (talk) 01:45, 22 November 2021 (MST)

While I'm not too familiar with Inazuma Eleven or soccer as a whole, and as such don't feel like I'd be too much help hands-on, I do have some ideas that you might find interesting.
Rather than creating a full soccer system, I think most of it could be put on a soccer ball piece of equipment (general sports ball?). When the ball takes bludgeoning damage, it flies 5 times as many feet as points of damage taken (which would necessitate an unarmed damage die for the class) in a line of the attacker's choosing. Any creatures in this line must attempt a Dexterity saving throw (DC 10 for non-soccer characters, class saving throw DC for soccer characters) to stop the ball on a failure (or on a success depending on the blocker's intent). The first creature within 5 ft. of the ball becomes its "possessor" (range can be increased by subclass features). Attacks against possessed balls have disadvantage (which can be increased by subclass features).
Even if I can't be super useful in creating features, I'd still love to watch its development and continue to make any suggestions there.--Ref3rence (talk) 10:04, 22 November 2021 (MST)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm not too familiar with it either, I only remember a few things from the show when I watched it as a kid so it'll take a lot of going through the wiki to get things done. This is my first time making a class which is why I felt the need to ask for help. P@uL (talk) 10:13, 22 November 2021 (MST)

Here's the item and the class so far, I've been using a lot of text from classes you've made to help me get through the basic parts faster. Soccer Ball (5e Equipment) and Hissatsu Soccer Player (5e Class)

P@uL (talk) 10:38, 24 November 2021 (MST)

Looks great! Sorry for the delay, once I get through some stuff I've been meaning to work on for a while, I might add a handful of features to the class.--Ref3rence (talk) 15:48, 26 November 2021 (MST)

Could use a bit of help[edit]

Hey, so I know you mentioned that my Dagger creation was unfinished, but Renowned Weapons? That actually sounds pretty cool, there a way you could help me with that? Still kinda new when it comes to making stuff, so that's why I'm kinda reaching out here. Thanks. Glass (talk) 20:56, 21 December 2021 (MST)

No worries. For the most part, all it needs is a basic template change and a move, which I can do if you want. It might also benefit from scaling with rarity like +1/+2/+3 weapons, but I leave specifics like that up to you.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:47, 21 December 2021 (MST)

If you can do it I would greatly appreciate it. Also I will take those rarity variants under advisement, thank you. Glass (talk) 18:37, 27 December 2021 (MST)

Glad I could help!--Ref3rence (talk) 19:12, 27 December 2021 (MST)

Once again, just wanted to say thank you, the wording on it is pretty solid and well thought out. At least far better than I can think of, so yeah. All in all, thank you. Glass (talk) 19:15, 19 January 2022 (MST)

No worries, I'm glad I could help.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:05, 19 January 2022 (MST)

Can I make a request?[edit]

Hello there. You don't know me, but I've known about the JJBA supplement you made since about a month ago, and despite not playing D&D myself, it seems like you've done a great job adapting its characters into the system. I've made a few edits here and there on some pages where links weren't working properly, but I've come up here to ask something: can I request for certain characters to be added to the Bestiary? I'd add them myself, but as I've said, I've not played D&D, so I'm worried I might not make them right.--Pablo 18:46, 23 March 2022 (EDT)

You absolutely can make any suggests you want, though it might take me a bit to make them since I'm at a bit of a lull in my energy to make homebrew, and I'd prefer you to make said suggestions on Talk:Bestiary (JJBA Setting) for the sake of being more obvious for others who might also make them.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:03, 23 March 2022 (MDT)
Thank you. I will take that into mind. Also, I don't mean to make it seem like I'm rushing you or anything. Whether or not you wanna pursue these is your choice anyways.--Pablo 23:45, 23 March 2022 (EDT)
I get you, no worries.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:46, 23 March 2022 (MDT)

One Piece[edit]

Do you think you would ever consider working on a system for one piece?~~—The preceding unsigned comment was added by DaddyPlague (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

I've thrown it around occasionally, but I've never been a huge One Piece fan, and I typically only make things I personally enjoy.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:45, 24 August 2022 (MDT)

Broken Sword[edit]

Hi Ref3rence, I like your version of the Broken Sword, but would you mind creating it at (for example) Broken Magic Sword. We seem to have gone from a flavour item to a magic item. I'd like to revert back to OwenLeaf's revision. Marasmusine (talk) 16:42, 20 February 2023 (MST)

I had originally intended to that, but in doing so realized that what it was trying to be was already covered under 5e's improvised weapon rules. The only differences are that it has the finesse property (which it probably shouldn't, it's edge alignment would be nonexistent), and the 10% chance to break (which is confusingly worded, and probably shouldn't be present since it's already a broken sword, if it breaks again it would probably be usable to the same degree).--Ref3rence (talk) 10:52, 1 March 2023 (MST)

The Coyotefolk[edit]

Hello there Ref3rence! I just wanted to thank you for your help with my Homebrew race page, it took me a little while to figure out how to see the pages history but I saw your edits and greatly appreciated it! (I definitely goofed the template but the more you know ) I think I fixed everything immediately pressing, and would appreciate if you had any other input, be it troubleshooting or just advice :3. Thanks again! EthrixTheProtogen (talk) 08:41, 30 May 2023 (MDT)

No worries, I'm glad I could help, and it looks like it's pretty much complete. For future reference, if you feel like you've resolved any issues listed in an improvement template like a stub or unattrib, it's perfectly acceptable to remove them yourself.--Ref3rence (talk) 09:14, 30 May 2023 (MDT)

Power Mages[edit]

Hi Ref3rence, Just wanted to quickly thank you for the edits to Power Source, I really appreciate the grammatical touch-ups and category addition. As a complete newbie here, I would never have thought to do so myself. Thanks! --Annonymouse (talk) 01:02, 6 July 2023 (MDT)

Glad I could help!--Ref3rence (talk) 08:57, 6 July 2023 (MDT)

Halo: Thanks From A Massive Fan[edit]

Hello Ref3erence! I've been playing Halo since I was young, from Halo Reach to going back to playing the old ones, I've loved every single Halo game with all my heart. Your work on the Halo Campaign, while I have read that you don't feel inspired to work on it right now, is amazing and wholeheartedly inspiring. I'm new to the Table-top world and DND and me and my friends are playing with the system that was there before you began working on it last week, I hope that when we finish our campaign and come back to this setting again that it's been altered to your design. Thank you so much for your work, from the Halo forum, to all the others! --Zacharoni (talk) 09:18, 2 October 2023 (MDT)

PS. The energy dagger SENT me into total excitement.

Thanks! It was actually your edits to the equipment page that drew me back to it after a fairly long absence working on other projects, so thank you for that.--Ref3rence (talk) 08:00, 3 October 2023 (MDT)

Regarding the Shinobi World (5e Campaign Setting)[edit]

Hey, we're having some issues with this setting here. We have a group of people from a separate group claiming that they've made this, and that our version is a copy that they don't want here. What exactly were your additions/work on this? --SwankyPants (talk) 21:59, 5 February 2024 (MST)

I basically built the linked supplement from the ground up as a companion to Naruto: Shinobi (5e Class) (there's an entire section in its talk page on exactly when and why I decided to make it). It is sum work of this wiki, any edits with my name attached to it were my own (which is most of them), and anyone trying to claim upward of 5 years of homebrew creation as their own has no right to do so. Go through the Naruto: Shinobi talk page archives, look at the creative process regarding the creation and application of Player Equivalent CR (5e Variant Rule), look at the dozens of hands that have each contributed to make this content what it is and tell me some vandals have the right to claim what we have created. As far as I'm concerned, if they had an actual case, they would have handled this with any amount of decorum, instead they decided to vandalize the wiki with blanking and memes.--Ref3rence (talk) 22:23, 5 February 2024 (MST)
Hi Reference. What we're concerned about in particular are pages made by the user TheInfamousSage. They made many pages for the Shinobi WOrld setting, despite there being another name entirely on their supplements. You edited on some, but were not the page maker. Would you know anything about the content on those pages in particular?--Yanied (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2024 (MST)
As far as the Ultimate Ninja stuff goes, it is entirely independent from the Shinobi World setting (Sage's most recent edit to a Shinobi World page was in April of 2021 unless I missed something). My only interactions with Ultimate Ninja were when I proposed a name change and created the template footer to keep down page size, otherwise I just kinda let Sage do their own thing over there while I handled Shinobi World (though clearly our vandals didn't read enough to realize Ultimate Ninja and Shinobi World were separate projects, and yet they still claimed both).--Ref3rence (talk) 22:54, 5 February 2024 (MST)
Ultimate Ninja is built on existing homebrew work outside of this wiki, which is called Naruto 5e I believe, it's a very detailed system which takes every little aspect into account, too much for my own taste as then it feels like you're learning a whole different system than 5e. Nevertheless it's also been worked on for many years from what I could tell, perhaps more than the one in this wiki, what sage is doing in particular is copying and pasting chunks of their content and making a few additions/tweaks. This is the link to the main page, with the links in the first comment being the discord that gives access to all of their content, considering that ultimate ninja is mostly being copied and pasted, it of their community my have felt offended and confused our setting with the other one P@uL (talk) 01:32, 6 February 2024 (MST)
That does indeed seem to be the case. The Shinobi World content itself is fine, it seems, but the Ultimate Ninja items are posing a bit of an issue in lack of credit, which seems to have been the impetus of the rash of vandalism. Per the original documents, they seem to have various credits that are lacking here. The association I believe is coming from the fact that Ultimate Ninja is using the breadcrumbs to Shinobi World. We are handling accordingly and appreciate all patience and collaboration in the effort.--Yanied (talk) 08:17, 6 February 2024 (MST)
After having actual evidence brought up instead of flagrant vandalism, I agree that Ultimate Ninja seems to be built on preexisting work without credit, and I admit I may have overreacted due to the combination of a difficult work day followed by the accusers going about it in the worst way possible.--Ref3rence (talk) 08:29, 6 February 2024 (MST)

Damage threshold and reduction[edit]

Sorry for posting straight on your talk page but since you're the one who makes these stuff then I wanted to ask, what's the point of features that give equal amounts of damage threshold and damage reduction? For example something that gives a damage threshold and reduction of 5, how would both these effects interact? Since damage threshold is ignored if the damage is above 5 at which point the reduction comes in and simply reduces 5 from the overall damage. Why not just keep it as just damage reduction of 5 then? P@uL (talk) 15:31, 13 March 2024 (MDT)

The intent is that if a player already has a damage threshold or reduction they both increase.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:12, 13 March 2024 (MDT)

Halo: Sorry, Thanks, Question[edit]

Hi, it’s me. We’ve talked briefly before on the Halo campaign setting page. I’m the guy who was making all the undos and I just really wanted to apologise. I was very new at the time and I kind of still am, so I didn’t understand how all of this worked. I liked the way things were before and I was worried that the page overhaul would make it worse but I was evidently wrong. You are very good at what you do so I just wanted to apologise for making your life more difficult. Really, really sorry.

Thanks so much for all the work you’ve done on the page. As a diehard Halo fan it was awesome seeing someone working to bring it to life in D&D. I’m going to be running a Halo campaign for my friends soon and your work has made it so much easier. Thanks so much for all you’ve done!

You’ve done a lot on the page but haven’t worked on it in a while. You mentioned you wanted to make major changes to the Bestiary and although I’m not sure what your plan was, I doubt you’ve finished on it. I’m sure you’re busy working on other projects and that this isn’t top of your list, but I just wanted to ask when you think you could return to finish up the page. If you could give me a rough time I’d really appreciate it. As I’m not sure what your vision was, I’m worried that I’ll change or add too much that you’ll just end up with a mountain of fixes to make. If you could also let me know what you had planned to do I think I might be able to help. Thanks for all you’ve done, sorry for making things difficult. I’d be happy to help, just let me know what to do.

(P.S I added the old stat locks to the new pages but I don’t know what else to change)

There's no need to apologize for anything, it's a communal wiki. My intent was to use PECR to build creatures as players. Off the top of my head:
  • Grunts, jackals, bugs, and marines would range from levels 1 to 4 and mainly have non-support specializations
  • Prophets, engineers, and fringe Covenant would range from levels 2 to 5, but have support specializations the chaff lack
  • ODSTs and other UNSC officers and special forces would range from levels 3 to 6 and have the full range of specializations
  • Elites, brutes, and spartans would range from levels 4 to 8
  • Hunters I'm unsure of an exact level range, but they would have more hit points and more opportunities to score criticals or take more damage from them (I planned on using it to test out a further extrapolation of PECR and traditional CR that scales individual creatures off of group sizes, so a creature could be balanced specifically for one 5th level character while another could be balanced for three 5th level characters, and another for five 5th level characters. Hunters would be equivalent to 2, 3, or 4 characters of a certain level; again I'm very undecided on their specific numbers)
Hopefully this helps. I'll hopefully return to it soonish, but ultimately this is just a hobby for me that I return to when inspiration strikes.--Ref3rence (talk) 12:29, 23 March 2024 (MDT)

PT-BR Version?[edit]

Hello, I wanted to ask if it is okay to create a page that's basically a translated to brazilian portuguese version of the Naruto:Shinobi pages? Naturally i would link the original pages. Right now I don't even know how to create a page but me and some friends are using your work and one of them doesn't know English very well, so I thought there may be others that could use a translated version. Anyway, thanks for your time. AlienNinja (talk) 17:58, 13 September 2024 (MDT)

I personally don't have any objections, I would love for more people to be able to use things I contributed to, but I'm not sure if such a thing would be allowed within this site's policies (off the top of my head, I know that this wiki is generally English-only for moderation purposes). That being said, I'm sure a user subpage (something like User:AlienNinja/Naruto: Shinobi (5e Class)) wouldn't ruffle too many feathers, and even if that isn't allowed for some reason nothing would be keeping you from passing it around as a google doc. If I were you, I'd ask on either the policies talk page or admin talk page if this was allowed, just to be sure.--Ref3rence (talk) 20:14, 13 September 2024 (MDT)
Oh, okay. Thanks a lot! I will check it out! AlienNinja (talk) 16:16, 15 September 2024 (MDT)
