Fire is a damage type.

  • Heat, flames, lava, a dragon’s fire breath, catching on fire, and burning temperatures cause fire damage.
  • Lava and ignited terrain can cause fire damage. Such areas might be overrun with smoke.
  • Often effects which cause fire damage can render a creature or object Ignited, and sometimes this can spread to other creatures or objects.
  • A Soaked creature has resistance to fire damage, but when the creature takes fire damage while out of water the Soaked condition evaporates.
  • Particularly inflammable creatures and creatures acclimated to extreme heat both often have resistance to fire damage.
  • Highly combustible creatures and objects, such as those made of paper or, are likely vulnerable to fire damage. Webs and mummies, for example. Creatures that rely on being cold, such as those made of ice are snow, are also likely vulnerable.
