Staggered Turns (PSR Supplement)

This style of encounter tends to be the slowest, but it may be preferred by hardcore players who want to push the tactical limits of their game. For a narrator who routinely offers "deadly" combat, this is likely the best method. It affords luck the least opportunity to determine the outcome. |
Staggered turns offer balanced and methodical combat that appeals to intense strategy.
After the first turn, the 2nd turn goes to the highest check roll to the side opposite of the first. Then the 3rd turn goes to the second-highest of the initial side, and 4th turn to the second-highest of the opposing side, and so on. Alternating turns this way makes it more difficult for one side to quickly overwhelm the other.
