Swankypants is a VERY active user with a more vigilant eye (than me) on the wiki and has been instrumental in finding and putting down vandals quickly. In addition, he has helped a lot with cleaning up the 5e spell list.--Yanied (talk) 21:28, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- Candidates Prelude
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve D&D Wiki in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list on Wikipedia before answering.
- A: Since the only major reason I'm doing this is the massive uptick in vandals in recent days, dealing with these people is mainly what I intend to use admin powers for. Most SRD pages and such are already well maintained, and don't need my assistance. --SwankyPants (talk) 22:05, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to D&D Wiki, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: Besides wiping the incomplete spell list for a time, which was no insubstantial amount of pages, along with the incomplete equipment and monk subclasses that I managed to barrel through, a personal favorite of mine is probably Laborer's Bane (5e Spell). It's a small one, but the idea seemed pretty unique to me at the time. --SwankyPants (talk) 22:05, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Well, I have had trouble in the past, generally with new users being protective of pages. Didn't deal with it too well back then, mostly just deferring to other users to help. Now, I try to make some time between the creation of these brand new pages, alongside trying to keep to talk pages or tags before doing anything major. --SwankyPants (talk) 22:05, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
Discussion
Support
- Per the above.--Yanied (talk) 21:30, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- Swankypants definitely has a history of being a helpful and competent user, and is very vigilant as well. I believe they'd do well as an administrator. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 21:33, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- Seen him actively fighting against vandals and notifying admins, along with clearing the spell list of incomplete pages and is showing good diligence dealing with the incomplete pages for the equipment list. Definitely has my support for becoming an administrator. --Lavie (talk) 21:36, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- Definitely am for Swanky being an admin. I see him cleaning up pages and even give advice needed to fix the pages. He has been nothing but polite and impartial in his critique if he has any so I feel he is fit to be an admin. --DonMafia (talk) 11:38, 23 October 2021 (GMT+8)
- SwankyPants has been a supportive, kind user to everyone. He is very active, takes a huge role in fighting off vandals, and has brought so many positive things to this community. If Yanied hadn't nominated him as an admin, I definitely would have. He has done so much for this community, and he most certainly deserves the role. --MarshDASavage (talk) 21:44, 22 October 2021 (MDT)
- Swank has been around on the Discord as long as I've been on it, likely more. He's been tough on the vandals, diligent on the completion of unfinished works, and has been a great comrade and friend to many in the community and on the Discord. My vote is "Aye", and I'll be the first to raise a glass in his honor should he accept it. Glass (talk) 21:58, 22 October 2021 (MDT)

- I have seen Swankypants learn a lot since I met them and I believe that they have what it takes to become an admin. More than just adressing vandalism, for a while now, they have played an active part of the wiki's community. In my opinion they have experienced a tremendous growth in their ability to calmly talk and explain things to other users while also learning the nuances of D&D and constantly working to fix and rework pages on the wiki. I believe the additional tools that come along with becoming an admin will only expand what help they can provide to the wiki. -Blobby383b (talk) 00:50, 23 October 2021 (MDT)
- I personally think that Swankypants is a great fit for an Adminship. As he is very knowledgeable, He is incredibly creative with his solutions for keeping the original idea intact while balancing it as well. He has thought me about everything I know. Also, he is very active in deterring vandalism. -Juki12 (talk) 22:09, 22 October 2021 (CET)
- I am in favor of this adminship proposition --PickleJarPete (talk) 15:05, 23 October 2021 (MDT)
- I may be fairly new to the wiki, but SwankyPants helped me balance out my first few brews. I am in favor of this proposition. --Toshio N (talk) 17:29, 23 October 2021 (MDT)
- SwankyPants for admin? Great call! As an admin or not, It would be great if I could be contributing to this wiki knowing that someone like SwankyPants is there to help as an admin. SwankyPants has been a big help to me in the past and knws as much (possibly more) than I do about formatting and what not. SwankyPants' objective as an admin is just what mine would be if I was one: to fix up this wiki and get rid of this vandal problem. Despite what AcidRat12345 and his spawn, AR and The Revenge of AcidRat12345, say, SwankyPants is not my sockpuppet, so don't worry. Sockpuppets don't wear the Crown of Akura`m, anyway. I wouldn't vote no for this in 1,087,675 years. --MythicActions2000 (talk) 22:11, 23 October 2021 (MDT)
- SwankyPants is very valuable to the community. He has fathomable knowledge about the wiki, syntax, and many less knowledgeable users seem to get to know SwankyPants before most other users! Really great fit for an admin position, also for the diligent work on stopping vandals- and I am in support of the nomination. --Green Dragon (talk) 10:18, 24 October 2021 (MDT)
- SwankyPants was incredibly helpful when I was creating my Demonic Knight class out of the ruins of the old one. I was grateful for his advice when it came to balancing the class, as well as how he took into account what my desires for the class were. I am fully in support of him getting an Admin position. --Delta1138 (talk) 18:41, 24 October 2021 (MDT)
- I support this nomination and agree with all the points raised by other users. SirSprinkles (talk) 01:43, 25 October 2021 (MDT)
- Absolutely yes, because you are a) a very active member and b) a very helpful person. I really appreciate his help. Thetrue1 (talk) 12:43, 25 October 2021 (EST)
Oppose
- I must be honest and say that I do not like SwankyPants. The one time that I had to deal with them I was left feeling unwelcome on this site and regretting putting my ideas on it. The issue eventually came to an amicable conclusion but the experience has left me wary of posting anything on here. In my opinion an admin must show more tact then what I saw of SwankyPants and be more neutral in differences of opinion regarding content. I don’t know their entire history of work here and can only judge them based on their interactions with me so my opposition may only apply to me, but if I felt so strongly about this then I am sure there are others who have felt similar. As an admin your job would not just be one of only policing but one of guiding and teaching as well. I just want nobody else to feel like I felt, so I can only ask that when they become admin that they be wary of how they are making other users feel --Silverking (talk) 16:54, 27 October 2021 (MDT)
- Can you link to where this was, so other people can see it? — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 20:52, 27 October 2021 (MDT)
- See this page. Don't think this oppose would come from anywhere else. --SwankyPants (talk) 20:59, 27 October 2021 (MDT)
