Talk:Frost Bringer (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
This is my class and to all those interested in editing this class, I would ask you to please make a new class if you want to make major changes.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silverking (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
You do not own the page.--Lavie (talk) 14:07, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
I am the original creator of this class and main contributor of its content if anybody has a claim to this class it is me —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silverking (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- It has been five months since you've touched this page. Lavie had every right to try and improve the thing, and just because they weren't you, doesn't mean they aren't allowed. I suggest you look at this page, as it applies here too. --SwankyPants (talk) 14:46, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
Your edits to my original class have changed core features to its functionality. All I ask it that you leave my class as it was and make a variant class for your changes. I do not mind you taking the whole class as it is now and just pasting it into a new class. Just let me return this class to my original design. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silverking (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
Just making a variant page with slight changes isn't worth it. Seriously, your version was improved by me and the one IP that helped balance it. You had three features that would easily kill any creature. No first party class has anything like that. You used wrong terminology (reflex saves don't exist in 5e), this class is still missing a class feature at 13th level, making the player have to wait until 14th level to get anything. You kept removing links which was completely unnecessary, you gave this class two common saving throws (Dexterity and Constitution) when all classes have 1 common saving throw (Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom) and 1 uncommon saving throw (Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma) and you didn't state when some of the features had their uses replenished. You also had things lasting a weird amount of rounds (not the usual one round, minute, etc., type of time tracking. Go ahead and read the 5e Class Design Guide and make sure the class is balanced around official first party content. --Lavie (talk) 15:24, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
I understand that it wasn’t perfectly balanced but there are many unbalanced classes on this site. Its unbalanced nature does not give you the right to strip half of my work away and replace it with yours. How is it fair for me to finish my class the way I want it and for you to jump in change it and call it your own, leaving me to have to make the variant class because you are so hellbent on taking this page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silverking (talk • contribs) . I never claimed ownership of the page. The page belongs to the wiki. Just because there are other unbalanced classes does not mean this one should be as well. --Lavie (talk) 15:46, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
Look if I went and made a class call “Unbalanced Frost Bringer” with my original content. will you leave that class alone?--Silverking (talk) 15:56, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
Put that on your user page and I will not.--Lavie (talk) 16:06, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
I’m sorry put what on my user page. I am honestly confused --Silverking (talk) 16:11, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
Put your version of Frostbringer onto your user page (click your name while not in edit mode and you'll head straight there).--Lavie (talk) 16:12, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
- "Look if I went and made a class call “Unbalanced Frost Bringer” with my original content. will you leave that class alone?"
- No, as members of the community, we would be obligated to do something about it.
- "I understand that it wasn’t perfectly balanced but there are many unbalanced classes on this site."
- And we're working on that, but it doesn't excuse all other bad content for being bad. That's like giving every prisoner the death penalty because some of them get the death penalty.
- I hope you understand we aren't trying to take ownership, or ruin this page, or anything like that. We just want this thing to be better, which it can be, if you work with us instead of against us. There's better ways to handle this, folks. --SwankyPants (talk) 16:12, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
I understand the need to have a balanced version of a class, but I also know that it is a lot of fun playing an unbalanced one and doing crazy stuff with your friends around a table. Reading your changes to the class made me feel that it was no longer the class that I had put so much work into. I am sorry for removing your balancing edits as they probably took a lot of effort to achieve but I just wanted a place to keep my original design alive.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silverking (talk • contribs) . - Ah, I see. Naturally, if a page is to be publically available on the site, then we have to try to maintain some form of balance/quality, but you can always take an old version and put it into a user page(as said above). You won’t be allowed to put any categories on it, and it won’t show up on the site anywhere unless directly linked to, but it avoids judgement by most measures, and you’re free to do whatever you want with it. I can assist with that, if need be. --SwankyPants (talk) 20:53, 25 May 2021 (MDT)
Can you please explain why the frozen arsenal feature keeps getting removed. It is basically spiritual weapon its not unbalanced. Also I don't understand your version of frostburst mine was a cold version of the spell sunburst. --Silverking (talk) 18:29, 11 June 2021 (MDT)
Most of it is due to the fact that you keep removing links. It's easier just to take a few things from your edit, undo it, and take the few things, add links where appropriate, and leave it. Seriously, stop removing the links and your edits are more likely to stay due to me not wanting to deal with going through everything carefully again and adding links. --Lavie (talk) 18:44, 11 June 2021 (MDT)
Woops sorry got our lines cross right their--Silverking (talk) 18:47, 11 June 2021 (MDT)
Hey what "fluff" needs to be added to get the stub removed--Silverking (talk) 23:30, 11 June 2021 (MDT)
