Edit with Form
What is this new tab? ~ BigShotFancyMan 06:38, 15 May 2019 (MDT)
- I assume because the rating system has been implemented to many related pages? --Green Dragon (talk) 08:49, 15 May 2019 (MDT)
- Alright. It seems to be gone at the moment. Thanks :) ~ BigShotFancyMan 09:03, 15 May 2019 (MDT)
So the other day, I noticed a few pages created like this one [[1]]. It says it has value of 2 which is one of the options that pops when you try to "Edit with Form". You can see the user contributions they made more, to include the exact sequence of numbers on this page [[2]]. I am not sure what they are for but I'd like to delete them lol :p ~ BigShotFancyMan 11:37, 15 May 2019 (MDT)
- I noticed them too and am not sure what the OP is up to. It might be worth asking what the intent is but ultimately those pages are going to be deleted. Marasmusine (talk) 12:53, 15 May 2019 (MDT)
Pages for Deletion
There's quite a few of pages I've marked and keeping in spirit of accountability, I am waiting for another admin to review/delete those. ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:50, 28 May 2019 (MDT)
- Same here. Maybe we are all thinking the same thing? --Green Dragon (talk) 11:06, 28 May 2019 (MDT)
- I've got your backs. boop —ConcealedLight (talk) 02:38, 30 May 2019 (MDT)
- thank ya! ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:01, 30 May 2019 (MDT)
The page remaining are ones Varkarrus PfD. The edits made didn't change the concept or add to how the article is used but rather srd links, capitalization, grammar, etc. The edits are quite a bit at times though, compared to 1/4 of the ones I deleted with only a few of these types of edits.
With that, I think the deletion can go either way and if another admin wants to remove the templates or delete the pages that would be great! ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:55, 20 June 2019 (MDT)
- I've gone through the rest of these. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 11:20, 20 June 2019 (MDT)
Article Spotlight
Max7238 mentioned on Discord something to give attention to articles. There was a concern for bias amongst active users so I got the idea to shine light on a random article. I used Special:RandomInCategory/5e and got Spelljammer Setting Page which isn't an ideal article to review. I was hoping someone could help with a random page generator that includes race, class, subclass, feat, and spells (and any other categories I may not be thinking of). I think that pages with IRR templates are okay too. My goal is just to bring attention to users' creations, good or in need of tweaking. I can start with doing one a month, and if there would be more users interested, we could rotate the weeks. If there are 4 users participating, then we'd have a weekly article spotlight, absent of bias (assuming the user reviews the first page the receive from the generator). uhm...that's all! Thanks :-) ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:31, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- P.S. I could reclick till I got a page without the campaign setting category -_- ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:33, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- P.S.S. could also be something to share on the Facebook page....maybe... ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:41, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- Is the idea to have the spotlight article a "community project" to bring it to standards? Or is it to highlight pages that are good? Is there a crossover with the Quality Articles idea? Marasmusine (talk) 09:46, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- The idea is to put a light on an article. If it needs brought to community standards then so be it. If it is up to snuff, then a blurb about what is liked about it should suffice. I wouldn't associate any spotlight article with QA or FA; those have their own criteria and process. If a QA or FA came up, then that's coincidence and a write up for the page could be done just like any non-QA/FA page. This would simply be bringing articles to attention on the front page....which I don't think I included in the original message :/
- Perhaps I give it go for an example and then community can decide if it looks like something beneficial to the site. ~ BigShotFancyMan 09:57, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- Here is an example, written quite briefly but I think gives the picture of my idea or intent. Article Spotlight Carpet of Shadow (5e Spell). ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:12, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- Just watching for now but just wanted to let you know that the spell is a bit too similar to the entangle spell for my liking. —ConcealedLight (talk) 13:00, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- Here is an example, written quite briefly but I think gives the picture of my idea or intent. Article Spotlight Carpet of Shadow (5e Spell). ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:12, 29 May 2019 (MDT)
- This is an interesting idea especially for social media. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:27, 2 June 2019 (MDT)
Nepotism
I don’t feel like Admins should be involved with Sysops for articles by their family or significant others, or conflict resolution and discipline that involves their family and significant others whether said persons are victim or violator. ~ BigShotFancyMan 22:30, 2 June 2019 (MDT)
- How are any relationships to be defined? --Green Dragon (talk) 23:19, 2 June 2019 (MDT)
- I'm not sure, but there is at least 1 admin that is involved with another user, as per their own admissions. I don't know if BSFM means to reference those users, but in cases of self-declaration at least the relationship is well-defined. Obviously, we cannot otherwise speculate on relationships between users.--GamerAim (talk) 14:00, 4 June 2019 (MDT)
- I vaguely recall an old admin bringing this up a long time ago, too.--GamerAim (talk) 14:00, 4 June 2019 (MDT)
- Well, we can only do something when we are aware of situations. At this time though, there are apparently none. Just good friends. ~ BigShotFancyMan 09:19, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- This was a ridiculous request suggested in frustration of perceived abuse between ConcealedLight and ConcealedWife after Vark’s review of a page CW rewrote. Any sort of favoritism cannot be proved and any attempts at it will only undo friendships and good working will of the site. I apologize for my shortsightedness in the matter. ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:34, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- There's no need to apologize. If there's an issue, it needs to be confronted whether the accused parties like it or not. If they're making you or other users feel unwelcome or unhappy here, that must take priority. Not being able to prove favoritism is perhaps a good reason to restrict powers where a relationship has been proven. Not just favoritism, but also personal non-site grudges.
- As I've said, instituting such a policy should have no negative effects as we have enough admins to cover for a rare conflict of interest. Considering this and the potential to safeguard against abuse, I cannot see why GD would object to it when two long-standing admins with a proven track record have voiced favor for such a policy.--GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 11:36, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- because it’s a highly subjective topic and futile effort to prove. ~ BigShotFancyMan 11:48, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- It's not subjective or hard to prove if we have proof of users declaring some form of relationship. In the instance of CL and CW, this has been affirmed by them both on multiple occasions. In this case, the relationship has been proved. I see no harm in making this policy, so long as it's clear that only confirmed relationships apply. Heck, I'll even concede that I shouldn't be allowed to administrate SgtLion.--GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 11:51, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- Edit: I'd like to note that this isn't about CL and CW. I only just returned and don't know anything about CL and CW and Vark, so this isn't in response to anything anyone did recently. I'm just supporting a user/admin who brought up the same concerns that I did by providing a simple, no-harm policy to allay any concerns users may have.--GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 11:56, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- As I requested on my talk page please avoid discrediting my judgements due to perceived information about my personal life as I endevor to keep it separate from my administrative duties and remain lawful neutral in my application. I should not have to share such information about myself in order to ease your own concerns about my judgement. This is the last I will say on the matter unless a futile policy like this see's concensus. —ConcealedLight (talk) 15:37, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- Please do not refer to the honest concerns of other users and admins as "futile policy." If you'd like, I can make a serious inquiry into your conduct, which present policy would prevent you from being involved in.
- With that formality out of the way, this is not about you, personally, CL, despite whatever importance you may or may not blatantly express about yourself. I am more than happy to post the public record of this "perceived information.". Nobody is forcing you to share anything - you have already shared this information and it can be corroborated if you insist that it isn't true. To be frank, the more defensive you appear to be, the more I'm inclined to believe that you've done something wrong.
- And so, to be clear: you have been accused of nothing except disrespectfulness towards other users. The policy would apply to all admins where information regarding their relationship to another user is already a matter of public record. No one would be forced to share anything. That your relationship is already a matter of public record is beside the point. Now, I do apologize if you feel as if your privacy is being invaded, but you shared this knowledge freely, and your presumably unwarranted defensive gestures only serve to point blame at you where otherwise none would be.
- So, again, I see no reason why any innocent, humble administrator would oppose stepping back in a rare case of administrating someone that public record shows he has a relationship with. But then, I would not dare make assumptions about the character of my fellow administrators :) --GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 17:58, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- I agree with ConcealedLight that a neutral point of view is necessary for an admin, and there are no restrictions about who they should interact with. This is a core policy already, NPOV. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:35, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- NPOV is about maintaining a neutral point of view in articles themselves. Since D&D Wiki is not a factual wiki, that policy is not relevant. The policy you are thinking of is WP:INVOLVED. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 23:46, 5 June 2019 (MDT)
- Okay then, as per NPOV, it seems that BSFM and I both agree that CL is unable to administrate matters involving CW, and I am unable to administrate matters involving SgtLion. Glad we got that wrapped up, Geodude!--GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 04:45, 6 June 2019 (MDT)
- Can't we all just be one big happy family. Marasmusine (talk) 05:16, 6 June 2019 (MDT)
- That is why I back down from this; it only stirred the pot. Nothing good comes from this witch hunt. ~ BigShotFancyMan 06:40, 6 June 2019 (MDT)
- As I have made the point of many times before, there is no witch hunt going on. I do distrust the conduct of a man who lashes out at even the faintest hint of questioning him, but that is beside the point. D&D Wiki is not served well by backing down from what's right just because a single user always causes drama over it.--GamerAim (2:0) (talk) 12:21, 6 June 2019 (MDT)
←Reverted indentation to one colon
- Obviously WP:INVOLVED is the right policy to link to. Like it says, if there is a potential WP:NPOV violation on a page (e.g. maintenance template issue) then the request for another unrelated admin to close up the situation should take place. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:17, 10 June 2019 (MDT)
Factions
(I don't know if I'm doing talk pages right this is only my second time) If it's within the admins' power, I'd really appreciate a homebrew section for creating factions, guilds, religions etc. I'm working on a faction at the moment and I noticed there was no real place to put stuff like that.
- If talking about guilds, they could slide into backgrounds considering they are to replace a background. For the other things such as factions, (5e Other) seems appropriate to me since these factions could be used multi-edition. ~BigShotFancyMan talk 13:44, 31 August 2019 (MDT)
Homebrew Class: Multiattacker
This page was recently deleted in spite of supposed active discussion that was to take place to prevent it from being deleted. It was marked for deletion from another user, who never participated in the talk of deleting the page, and deleted by admin Quincy, who failed to recognize my defense of the class, in spite of my attempts to prevent the page from deletion because not only do I use the class but I also proposed, if need be, a possible rebalancing for the class that never intended to be taken as be a proper class, but on a fundamental level is mostly balanced. I wish for the page to be restored, because not only was the reason of deletion refuted, but was deleted in violation of the presented procedures. >Owlbreaker 21:09, 19 Sept 2019

- If worst comes to worst you could always store a copy of the class on your userpage where no-one can edit it. Based Quincy (talk) 23:11, 19 September 2019 (MDT)

Deleting A Userpage
I need some help dealing with an issue I have on one of my userpages. The User:Blobby383b/Contributions page used to list a breakdown of my contributions to the wiki and allowed me to see where I spend the most time making major edits. However one of the mediawiki updates before the most recent one broke it and made it so it no longer worked. It sucked, but it was no big deal. With one of the more recent mediawiki updates(I am not sure which one), the page has gone from just having a broken dpl on the page and could still be edited to being completely inaccessible. As such, I hope that an admin with more knowledge than me about the issue could delete the page so the history of how to make a page unusable is scrubbed and so I can put a new dpl for my contributions on it that does work. If a way is found to be able to fix this issue, it would be a good idea to apply the same fix to User:ConcealedLight/FocusedContribs as well. Thanks.--Blobby383b (talk) 12:35, 20 September 2019 (MDT)
- I would like to say for posterity stakes that Geodude has already fixed the problem and I no longer need my contributions userpage to be deleted.--Blobby383b (talk) 22:46, 20 September 2019 (MDT)
Revolver, Variant (5e Equipment)
The time frame for this to pass or fail quality article nomination has far surpassed its duration. The voting is 2-3 in favor of oppose and due to my feelings, I'd prefer more input or another user's involvement of succeeding or failing this article. Thanks y'all! ~BigShotFancyMan talk 13:13, 20 September 2019 (MDT)

Hiya - I was wondering if an admin could please give my page a look, and consider locking it: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Spirit_Lord_(5e_Class) If you have any recommendations, I'd be most grateful - I haven't played a spellcasting character that much in games yet, but wanted to develop this homebrew class from one of my favourite games. --Pegasucks (talk) 08:31, 26 December 2019 (MST)

Wording Confusion
I need a little help here. Can someone please explain the difference between a rod and staff? It feels like there is no difference at all except that one is for spellcasters and the other is for everyone. Is that all? Flamestarter (talk) 17:11, 24 November 2019 (MST)Flamestarter
- A rod is typically 2-3 feet long, usually made of metal, and can be easily wielded in one hand. Kinda like a mace (and indeed, many rods can also be wielded as maces). On the other hand, a staff is usually made of wood and tends to be 5-6 feet long (the full height of a man, basically). Based Quincy (talk) 17:43, 24 November 2019 (MST)
- staves are typical 2 hands, vs rods being one handed, and therefore staves are usually if not always more powerful ~BigShotFancyMan talk 21:28, 24 November 2019 (MST)

- the same reason you don’t call a dagger a sword, they are different. ~BigShotFancyMan talk 23:58, 25 November 2019 (MST)
- Yeah, that's helpful. Actually, a dagger and a sword have several differences other than size. I mean, yes, size is a big one, but the next big one is time. Swords were actually evolved from daggers and daggers were around much longer than full swords. Also, swords are more designed for thrusting while daggers are better for stealth fighting due to how light they are. Literally the only difference with rods and staffs is the length. Artificer Spell List
I was looking at 5e Spells on the wiki and noticed that the wiki didn't have a section for artificer spells yet. Since the class has officially released, I believe that the class should be added to all places necessary(as already seen by the section on them in 5e Subclasses). As such, I have gone ahead and created breadcrumbs page and the spell list for the artificer, but need assistance editing locked pages to allow users to create artificer spells on the wiki. Specifically, these two things need to be done:
- 5e Artificer Spells needs to be added to 5e Spells under the by class section and needs to say Artificer
- {{5e Artificer Spells Breadcrumb}}<br/><!--if this cannot be cast by Artificer, delete this entire line--> needs to be added to the 5e Spell Preload

Racial Magic
So, I have a question about magic from races. Do those spells that you get from your teifling race or something of the like count against you maximum spells if you're spellcaster? --Flamestarter (talk) 18:32, 18 February 2020 (MST)
- No they do not. Racially learned spells are completely independent from class features and do not interact with spellcasting abilities provided by a class. Take a look at the sorcerer class's spellcasting feature, for example. For both spells known and spell slots, the class specifically refers to sorcerer spells, not all spells in general. Editing Policies
I've noticed a number of changes to multiple pages of my creation recently by the same user, in an attempt to reach out to them, and talk about the changes and why they were made (in a respectful way, of course) I found that this user has made hundreds of changes to people's work in the last few days alone, often minute by minute. I understand, and agree with, the editorial policies of D&DWiki, but surely the difference between thoughtful, well meaning balances and hundreds of menial alterations to dozens of people's work must be noted. I, and I'm sure the others affected, would wish for changes to be made only when they aid the articles, not at the behest of someone giving little thought to the changes that they're making, especially if the classes, creatures, and settings in question are currently being used in a campaign. The user in question goes by the name "PJammaz", hopefully a mutually pleasing arrangement can be made. Edit: I've found that the edits to my personal pages have been to adjust for online etiquette, I am not aware of whether this is the case for others. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HawtDawg (talk • contribs) . - The user in question has been sprucing up the wiki's image policy due to lack of oversight, as such edits are necessary to maintain the integrity of the site and adhere to legal codes. I looked at a few of the pages altered, which have an "unattributed" due to not having the appropriate crediting to their maker. This can be remedied by sourcing the images. In regards to personal pages (I assume you mean user pages), I cannot say I know of it. Can you post the link? For future reference, please do not dismiss another user's edits as menial and also remember to sign your posts in the future!--Yanied (talk) 20:31, 11 April 2020 (MDT)
- Thanks both for the quick and insightful responses, when I said personal page, I merely meant various pages I had made, and as you've stated, I now see the changes are just to keep with the image policy, a poor wording on my part. I wish that I could sign my posts, but I have no idea how, so I'll just try copying and pasting the end of yours, while changing the username?-HawtDawg (talk) 20:31, 11 April 2020 (MDT)
FAN Aarongar (5e Race)
This article has passed 6 months and only has supports. I leave one week for any users to comment before it is approved. Wiki use to have some active users that haven't chimed on the article yet, and those insights may be valuable to maintaining the quality of FA the wiki desires. Thanks. Vandals
I think the Past Level 20 (5e Variant Rule) is being vandalized by some IPs. The page might need to be protected.
- I took a look and it is hard to say what is vandalism on this page since it looks like its an extension of shadow vamp elf :p Red Leg Leo (talk) 13:08, 30 May 2020 (MDT)
- Just seconding that I too cannot tell what is vandalism and what is not on that page. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 14:58, 30 May 2020 (MDT)
Edits by a non-admin on semi-protected page
I've just noticed a bunch of edits had been done by a non-admin user to this page ( https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Lycanthrope_(5e_Class) ) that's meant to be semi-protected, I've reverted the edits but is there a way to stop this happening? --Foxfire94 (talk) 09:48, 29 June 2020 (MDT)
- It appears that when Green Dragon protected that page, he only semi-protected it, which only stops edits from very new users and users who are not logged in. I've now fully protected that page, which stops edits from everyone except admins. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 11:56, 29 June 2020 (MDT)
- Thank you, although I was wanting to make an edit to the page myself to add in a large update to the page and can't do so. Would you mind making these changes for me? Here's the page source: https://pastebin.com/d1F5cDVd --Foxfire94 (talk) 12:20, 29 June 2020 (MDT)
- Thank you! I have noticed I made one error here https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Lycanthrope_(5e_Class)#Sacerdotali_Artes when trying to reference the Persuasion skill; if you have time I'd appreciate the fix to that, sorry for the inconvenience! --Foxfire94 (talk) 12:43, 29 June 2020 (MDT)

Keybearer Situation
I have recently reworked the https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Keybearer_(5e_Class) class in an attempt to address its severe balance issues and prune its excessive list of features. However, User:HyperShadic46 keeps reverting it to his version, which—as of this writing—allows a 20th level Keybearer to cast cone of cold 28 times per rest and make a theoretically infinite number of attacks in a single turn (with each attack inflicting 6d10 damage), amongst many other things.
I have listed my issues with the class and with his similarly unbalanced edits to the https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Keyblade_(5e_Equipment) article on their respective discussion pages, and he has ignored them. I would like to request that an admin look at this and figure out what, if anything, is to be done. --SlaadSack (talk) 20:37, 29 June 2020 (MDT)
- I've reached out on both pages. Red Leg Leo (talk) 07:34, 30 June 2020 (MDT)
Licensing
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License has {{needsadmin}}. I haven't learned this aspect yet if someone can help. Red Leg Leo (talk) 10:15, 7 July 2020 (MDT)
- It's legit; I ran a diffchecker on that page and the equivalent Wikipedia page and the only differences are those made for cosmetic/display purposes. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 13:57, 7 July 2020 (MDT)
- So, the page isn't redundant and can also be used for beneficial reasons on the wiki? (also, thanks!) Red Leg Leo (talk) 11:32, 9 July 2020 (MDT)
Updating a map
Help! I attempted to upload a revision to a map in the Category:Dungeon Map section. The revision was to darken the graphics so it would be easier to see in that section and when clicking on it. But the version did not update; so I clicked on revert. So it reverted to the original version, but showed the darkened version in the file history. So then I reverted again, hoping that it would go back to the dark version and show it properly. But it did not. So now I have four versions in the file history, one of which is the desired darkened version, but I can't seem to force it to make that the current version. The map is "Gate to the Past 5e Quest.jpg" File:Gate_to_the_Past_5e_Quest.jpg.
Also, what is the difference between the Dungeon Maps section and the Category:Dungeon Map section? Seems like they are almost the same thing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dain (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- Hi there, when I tried to revert to the darkened version, the site says that that version of the file is identical to the current version, so there should be no issue here. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 13:15, 15 July 2020 (MDT)
Next Problem: I attempted to load another map in the Category:Dungeon Map section, but I used a pdf which does not allow for a thumbnail of the file. I don't see how I can upload a jpg version of the file (It says "You cannot overwrite this file.") How can I substitute a jpg for the pdf? Thanks, Dain (talk) 20:20, 15 July 2020 (MDT)
- Instead of trying to overwrite the pdf, upload the jpg as a new file. I'll delete the pdf version. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 20:39, 15 July 2020 (MDT)
