From D&D Wiki
Welcome to D&D Wiki!
- Welcome!
Hello SgtLion/Archive 1, and welcome to D&D Wiki. I hope you have been enjoying this site, and I hope you have been finding the information here on D&D Wiki useful. I am an admin (and, actually, the owner as well) here on D&D Wiki along with a couple other people who make up "The Face" of D&D Wiki. An entire list of admins can be found here.
- Questions
If you have any question about D&D Wiki, D&D, formatting on D&D Wiki, what day today is, or whatever, an admin will, many times, give the best answer. Please feel free to ask any admin any question (ask me a question!).
- Formatting
Formatting on D&D Wiki (or any wiki for that matter) can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain the basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Again, if you have any questions about formatting on D&D Wiki please ask them as, I imagine, anybody will be more than happy to help you get them answered.
- Community
A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I am sure you will find it rather nice. Most discussions take place on content talk pages, however please feel free to walk into The Tavern (our local chat room) and talk to some fellow D&D Wikians. Anyway, on D&D Wiki, possibly since discussions are never deleted, people try to be nice. This means please follow Wikipedia's guidelines on Civility and Etiquette when discussing anything. And, if an argument does arise, please use Wikipedia's Dispute Resolution to make sure everyone comes out happy. Also, on a pretty different note, to ensure people know who posted what, please sign your name after a post with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon. This will automatically produce your name and the date. Anyway, I hope you come to love the close-knit D&D Wiki community and welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. --Green Dragon 14:11, 5 October 2008 (MDT)
Barnstar
Barnstar | |
I give you this Barnstar for your outstanding work in helping to correct spelling, grammatical errors, and other language issues with articles. These small changes help improve each and every page, as well as improve upon the quality of D&D wiki as a whole. --Hooper 03:32, 19 October 2009 (CST) |
- Barnstars are normally added to one's userpage; if desired (or Awards, cont., etc). --Green Dragon 10:07, 20 October 2009 (MDT)
- Uhm.. O-okay? --SgtLion 11:40, 20 October 2009 (MDT)
- I'm just not going to be content until I'm straightforward and clear. Initially I thought you were telling me to have it on my talk page where it already was. Then three years later I read it again and realise you meant my main page. I don't even think you work on dandwiki anymore but goddamnit my intentions are going to be understood. --SgtLion (talk) 13:58, 26 July 2013 (MDT)
Thanks
Lion, thanks for fixing my homophones! Yeah! --Jay Freedman 22:31, 20 October 2009 (MDT)
- Ah, yes, 'twas a good article. You're welcome. --SgtLion 23:57, 20 October 2009 (MDT)
- Another big thanks for editing black lion. What would I do without you to save my butt. Peace. --Jay Freedman 13:16, 23 November 2009 (MST)
- Heh, you're welcome. Just small things that I notice really bug me, gotta fix 'em. --SgtLion 13:30, 23 November 2009 (MST)
- Thanks for fixing my Illusionary Weapons Master class a while back. Take a look at what I've done with it now! Your edits put me on the track to make it easily the best thing I've made yet, and I've done quite a bit. --Salasay Δ 11:18, 14 January 2013 (MST)
Wording Issues
A few months ago I looked into Category:Wording Issues. I noticed that on the talk page you said you had gone through and cleaned it up. However when I checked it there were about 30-40 articles still in it. I fixed all of those and have been monitoring and keeping the category clean for a few months now. I was just wondering, could you help me out with this? As much as I like fixing wording issues, sometimes I just need a break. Thanks. :) --Vrail 11:27, 18 August 2010 (MDT)
- Oh my, being asked for something. I totally forgot about that category already, which is pretty irresponsible of me, having taken it into my hands to prioritarily take care of wording issues. No problem, anyway, I'll totally keep my eye on it whenever I'm around. --SgtLion 12:16, 18 August 2010 (MDT)
Paragaphs?
Maybe it was a useful note, because there weren't any when I left the message [1], and then someone improved the article as a result [2]. However, they didn't remove the note. Marasmusine (talk) 03:58, 5 June 2013 (MDT)
- Don't get me wrong, the note put the point across. But when something like this happens, I'm not sure if you're questioning the validity of the paragraphs, or if it's a remnant before paragraphs. It wasn't a jab intended to offend, and I suppose making notes in anticipation of a mistake is probably not an optimal way to write these things, so okay, fair point. --SgtLion (talk) 04:08, 5 June 2013 (MDT)
- Thank-you for your proofreading contributions, it is an unglamourous but much needed task. Marasmusine (talk) 07:16, 5 June 2013 (MDT)
- Hah, I came by to give you a barnstar for going through all those maintenance templates, but I see you already have one, and I already thanked you in June. Tch, my memory. Anyway, have a mini barnstar: * Marasmusine (talk) 06:13, 7 August 2013 (MDT)
- Oh I see, "Can't give SgtLion loads of big pretty barnstars, he's fine with juuust the one.". By which I mean thank you, gratitude is big motivation for me, and it's also good to know I've been doing things right, to a large degree, thus far. I'll put the barnstar up on my user page, however big it may be. Thanks again <3 --SgtLion (talk) 05:50, 9 August 2013 (MDT)
Helpers Page
I am attempting to implement a "Helpers" page to assist users with their problems. If you would like to help other users with wiki problems, simply add all of the following categories that you feel that you could assist in to your User Page. The Categories available are: , , , , and . If you choose to put one of the above categories, please also add as well. Thank you, Salasay Δ 13:44, 5 February 2013 (MST)
- Whee, I'm a helper! What flatters me most is you dare to give me this message at all. Unless you put it on everyone's profile in which case I'm kinda sad. Thanks~ --SgtLion (talk) 06:50, 24 September 2013 (MDT)
- You're not a Helper yet. You have to pick the categories for which you wish to become a Helper in. Also, I picked you because of your barnstar and the help you gave me on the IWM (plus I could see from other peoples comments that you helped many people other than me). Im putting the ads on the pages of people who I think would be interested in joining the Helper "system". If there is anyone that you know of who would help, please feel free to adjust my message and post it. --Salasay Δ 14:26, 27 September 2013 (MDT)
:::::Uhm. I'm not silly. I swear I even copypasted it.. Well. Thank you! I'm just a silly dude! Not that I'm hugely around for a few weeks still, but whee! --SgtLion (talk) 04:32, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
Templates
Some of the template that you are doing are not right. Abandoned are for articles that are not really playable, or have serious problems. For example Crusader (3.5e Class) just needs stub. Not delete. Please keep this in mind because, although we prefer finished content, some people only care about the "playability" of a certain page- not other "fluff" or "not needed" parts. How complete people are varies from campaign to campaign, and person and person. Thus, we do not blanket delete peoples things if they care more about "finished and polished" products than "working and interesting" products (for example). --Green Dragon (talk) 08:05, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
- As far as I read, abandoned tags, when formatted correctly, automatically turn into delete templates after 1 year. And if they don't, then I remember reading that it at least was their intended function. If that's not the case, I do apologise. --SgtLion (talk) 08:33, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
- Well, aye. It says on Abandoned that, in most cases, they're changed to delete one year after abandoned template is added if they're not improved. As this was the case with at least most of the articles in question, I simply assumed I was furthering the purpose of the system. If there is another clause, or something I overlooked, I dearly apologise. As far as I was aware, I was simply enacting the guidelines set. --SgtLion (talk) 08:40, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
- Yes, you were.
- However, I am stating that those templates were not added in good faith. This is because people may put hard work into parts of pages that they find important, albeit well, and not do those that they consider "superfluous". Although not the case, and the page's templates will reflect this until fixed, many gamers may come back with "whatever- not my concern if that is how D&D Wiki treats this page: so be it".
- I am just asking for you to double check the good faith of these templates before going to delete since that one is much more immediate and often with more completed consequences via time, etc. --Green Dragon (talk) 11:19, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
- Didn't mean to pass off your warning as a 'whatever', I apologise if you took it that way. It didn't occur to me that abandoned templates would be added improperly, I admit. Should I do another round of Abandoned -> Delete, I will be sure to check the validity of said templates before doing so.
- It really wounds me when I realise I've caused an issue in my attempt to help, so please do not think I am deflecting your advice. I apologise for the problems caused. --SgtLion (talk) 12:02, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
- I actually appreciate the effort, and I imagine this entire community does. I just don't like to have to keep checking all one's edits, and if I can get to the root of the problem as it is just starting then I avert checking them (well, whatlinkshere and some delete's still grate me, but I know that at this point I would just deal with it myself when it comes up).
- So, please, continue with one's good faith in mind– and don't feel "intimidated" by the process, rather the content is the most important thing to review, improve, or remove. --Green Dragon (talk) 13:02, 14 October 2013 (MDT)
Issues with yo' work, SgtLion
So it occurs to me that I've gone a little haywire as of late, changing pages all over the board. If I've done something you didn't like or was objectively wrong, then I do apologise, and please tell it to me straight, doc. I'll probably return to doing just my wording issues job for now.
I should also note, for clarity, that it was not my intention to do anything disliked or wrong, I was merely exploring the various functions of wiki, and thought I would change things for the better on my way. --SgtLion (talk) 04:05, 15 October 2013 (MDT)
- Your edits look fine to me. For reference, use "move" (top option bar) to move pages to locations with correct identifiers (e.g. "3.5e Class") and conventions present. Of course pages that need the delete tag added do not need to be moved, since that's just more work that's required after their deletion. --Green Dragon (talk) 06:20, 15 October 2013 (MDT)
- If you are planning on keeping to move pages I can give you temporary admin rights so that you can suppress the redirects (but then you also have to double check WhatLinksHere after you suppress the moved page redirect). Let me know please! --Green Dragon (talk) 01:28, 17 October 2013 (MDT)
- Okay, now when you mass move pages please uncheck leave a redirect behind. Just reply here letting me know when you have corrected most of the page locations that you are concerned about. --Green Dragon (talk) 04:56, 24 October 2013 (MDT)
Alright. My hand hurts and I'm finally hurting to find many pages without an ID that are meant to have one. I am proud and fully content with this result. My job is mostly fulfilled, for now. I appreciate the trust~ --SgtLion (talk) 13:10, 24 October 2013 (MDT)Waaaaaaaaaait, I found mooore --SgtLion (talk) 15:50, 24 October 2013 (MDT)
- Thanks a lot for your assistance! I noticed that you modified some of the links to these pages, so it seems that you got all those links. If you are looking for a bot, see also User talk:Green Dragon/Archive 25#Fixing double redirects. All you need to do is change some of the properties, but it should work just fine for bot-assisted tasks. Feel free to mention if you need temporary administrator rights for a task that you are going to complete. --Green Dragon (talk) 13:13, 26 October 2013 (MDT)
Achievement Unlocked
Hey, congratulations, you've reached an edit count of 555. Marasmusine (talk) 13:45, 15 October 2013 (MDT)
- Yay, that is actually a lot more than I imagined, I guess I do such little edits. Now that I have gained this great number, it's time to never edit aga-DANGIT. --SgtLion (talk) 01:13, 16 October 2013 (MDT)
- Yah do 555 edits in 5 years, then another 500 in like two months. What a true hero I must be. By which I mean Whee --SgtLion (talk) 14:32, 10 December 2013 (MST)
- You're doing great, thanks for your help with the Aethar leftovers!
- I have a piece of advice. If a 3.5e feat, class, spell or something seems suspiciously well written, see if it is listed at http://dndtools.eu/feats/ - a small proportion of the time it's been copied from a sourcebook. Marasmusine (talk) 14:49, 10 December 2013 (MST)

It might be helpful if you were an admin
Hi SgtLion, I was thinking, you can be trusted with the admin tools. I think this will help you with your maintenance of the wiki, and the wiki will benefit as a result. Win win! As well as being able to delete pages and move pages without redirects, you'll be able to use autowikibrowser to automate repetitive tasks like fixing typos. If it's okay with you, I'll nominate you for adminship. Marasmusine (talk) 09:15, 10 November 2013 (MST)
- I always find it hard to not look immodest and impolite when talking about things like this. But I will do my best in saying, yes please, I'm very much interested in being nominated for adminship, and thank you very much for being willing to do so <3 It's certainly a status that would be rather helpful.
- Even aside from the nomination thing, I've always considered you a pretty great dude, and it is but a pleasure to know you exist here. --SgtLion (talk) 16:40, 10 November 2013 (MST)
- Requests for Adminship/SgtLion! Marasmusine (talk) 06:27, 11 November 2013 (MST)
- Welcome to Adminship. You are now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. You have more burden on yourself now that you are an admin because users will be looking at you for editing help, knowledge about pages, etc. Make sure to familiarize yourself with Meta Pages to help address this burden. I recommend you take a look at Special:ListGroupRights if you have not already. Some of the new feature's uses follow. You can now delete pages, protect pages, rollback edits, block users and IP's, edit every page, patrol edits, and do a couple more minor things.
- Deleting pages is normally done through Category:Candidates for Deletion. Anything with a good reason to be deleted on that page should be deleted. Other times pages should be deleted is in the case of vandalism, spam, or even when someone makes a page and after a few edits they either blank the page or replace it with something like "Please delete this". If this page consisted of close to just the preload it is fine to just delete it.
- Protecting pages has quite a few different times when it should be used. Pages should be protected according to the author's wishes (with Template:Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of conflict (with Template:Temp Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of OGC published materials (with Template:OGL Top added to the top of the page in question and Template:OGL Bottom added to the bottom), or finally if the page is a vital part of D&D Wiki's organization. Also, if it deals with D&D Wiki's organization the page needs to be protected. For Example 3.5e Homebrew is protected from all non-sysop edits whereas a different page like LA 0 Races is only protected from IP edits. No template needs to be added to pages if they are part of D&D Wiki's organization (even though some do exist like Template:Admin Locked Page)
- Blocking a user or IP should be used with respect to policy. To block someone just click "block" (found on Recent Changes, the diff in question, the userpage, etc) and fill out the corresponding form. For a typical vandalism attack I normally block the user for two weeks. Certain things demand a longer block and others a shorter. No standards have been set for block lengths so use your best judgment.
- Editing every page on D&D Wiki mostly means you can now edit the SRD and the MSRD. Feel free to edit them if inaccuracies are found. If interested further please look at the SRD ToDO List or the MSRD tasks; I am sure your help will be appreciated.
- Now that you are an admin I would say more burden is placed on you, but I really hope you enjoy being an admin and I hope you decide to stay around on D&D Wiki for a while more to come. Welcome to Adminship. Again, you're now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. --Green Dragon (talk) 10:30, 18 November 2013 (MST)

Thanks for the help!
Hey, Ixidor here. Thanks a lot for going through and adding the breadcrumbs to a bunch of my pages! It really helps make it look professional and look like the rest of the site. If I may ask, how did you end up adding the breadcrumbs to my page? Was I on a list or was someone other than my players checking out my stuff haha? In any case, thanks! --Ixidor (talk) 17:59, 17 December 2013 (MST)
- Well, I generally start my wikiventure with some random 'needs fixing' list. But I started lookin' at your stuff, which interested me enough to look at more, and before I know it I've noticed they all need breadcrumbing, so bam. So it was a bit of both, I guess. Your gratitude is well-timed, 'cause I've been having a kinda sucky time recently, so I thank ye kindly! I'm glad you appreciate it, and your stuff is coolio interesting!~ --SgtLion (talk) 15:15, 18 December 2013 (MST)
- Sorry to hear that, I hope it gets better soon :/ And I really do appreciate the drops, I'll make extra sure to add those in when I get the chance. I've been running the world for nearly 12 years now and I'm making the wiki as a resource for my players, but it's great when other people come in and take a look! There's a lot yet to do really all over the place, but if you had to pinpoint a few things that I could work on to improve it at a glance what would they be? I know there are content holes and I'm adding that as fast as I can edit/compile all my dang notes but does it need more pictures, more internal links, what? Thanks again! --Ixidor (talk) 21:30, 18 December 2013 (MST)
- I'm not sure, to be entirely honest. I wouldn't worry too much about internal links unless it points to content I'm missing out on. Pictures are always fun, but far from easy to find appropriate ones. I couldn't honestly say I have useful feedback beyond the fact that I enjoy the content. --SgtLion (talk) 13:26, 25 December 2013 (MST)

Abandoned Userspace pages
I think we should treat user subpages (but obviously not the user page) as we would mainspage pages. In the example of User:Slowlearner/Furnace Spirit the guy made 6 edits nearly 4 years ago and nothing since. The piece is missing descriptions and no-one's picked up on it for the year it was marked as abandoned. It's just going to languish there. What do you think? Marasmusine (talk) 14:07, 30 December 2013 (MST)
- It's a kinda tough one. I agree in principle, but sometimes people can use pages for reference or somethin' for ages, without editing it at all. So it's hard to really tell how important the page is. I guess though as long as we follow deletion proposal procedure it's easy enough. So 'aight, yes, I agree. --SgtLion (talk) 12:32, 3 January 2014 (MST)
Questions
Hi, I hope I'm doing this right. How do you rename a template?--PowerBuildPlus1 (talk) 18:47, 12 January 2014 (MST)
- "Move" tab at the top of the page. Sorry for help-ninjaing, sarg. --Salasay Δ 19:42, 12 January 2014 (MST)
- Thanks a bunch! I'm still doing work on my Red Mountain Ogre template, but she's pretty close to being done, I just have add a little more background and she should good to go.--PowerBuildPlus1 (talk) 21:45, 12 January 2014 (MST)
Helpers Page
Could we please get the Helpers Page put up on the meta pages or main page or something? As it is, the only way to find the page is to search "Helpers". Danke in advance. --Salasay Δ 12:03, 15 January 2014 (MST)

Class Review
Yo, Dawg (lion, cat, ?), wrote a new class. When you get time, could you please give it a once-or-twice over? This is it. WARNING: May cause head trauma from too much flavor. Rhyltyrr
First off, I have no idea what I'm doing, so if I'm making a mistake with formatting or phrasing or whatever this question, please tell me. And, hi. I'm new here. I made an account because I had a slight issue with an otherwise awesome Race I saw someone had made and wanted to tweak it a little, so I made a Variant version. Only afterwards did I figure out how to see who created the page, and I see that s/he is no longer a user. I copied most of the Race info over, fixed up a few things, corrected some spelling and grammar issues, but it's essentially still the same Race, so now I'm wondering if I should just take over the original page with my edits, or leave it be and keep my Variant? -Rhyltyrr (talk) 3:19, 17 March 2014 (CST)
- Hi Rhyltrr, sorry for the delay, I've been rather caught up in work for a while~ It's up to you, to be honest. If your edits are constructive, like they're refining and improving the current race in a way it was originally meant, then you should merge it (and tell me so I can delete the extra page). But if you're changing the race in a way that branches it into something meaningfully different from the original, the variant page is probably apt.
- To properly add to a talk page, by the way, you should leave your words at the bottom of the talk page, and if adding new section, use == <title> == to make a title, but with a title, obviously. --Sargento Léon (La plática) 14:33, 25 March 2014 (MDT)
- Okay, thanks. Actually, I did change a few things, but I mostly just added missing things like Base Speed and Abilities, so it really is basically the same. I just wasn't sure if my edits went in too different a direction than what the original guy wanted.
- I also noticed that, just because their username is in red doesn't mean that the account isn't active, so I have no way of knowing whether s/he is still a user or not. The original creator of the class, Bladesprite, was Krahazik.
- Also, thanks for answering. I understand a busy schedule. --Rhyltyrr (talk) 5:46, 25 March 2014 (CST)
- Keeping an eye out for activity is a good thing ta' do, but don't be afraid to edit articles, especially if you're just essentially completing a class. Since Bladesprite was last edited by Krahazik almost two years ago, I would be surprised if they were active still anyway. Even if they are, constructive edits are often (and should be) welcomed by creators; It's an open wiki after all. --Sargento Léon (La plática) 17:19, 25 March 2014 (MDT)
- As a side note, either you edited your signature to have strange properties, or you're not signing your posts by simply typing ~~~~. No worries either way, just a weird observation. --Sargento Léon (La plática) 17:23, 25 March 2014 (MDT)
Sorry I'm A New Guy
Wasn't sure how to add to user talk so tagged it onto this guys hope he doesn't get upset. Thank you for the fix on my new class. It was my first time so it was pretty drama filled. From looking at your page I can see that you help out a lot of people, so maybe you will help me more in the future. I (in)tend to make numerous mistakes so thank you in advance as well! If you know anyone that enjoys reviewing classes or races please let me know. I want to get involved in this site and feel I have a lot to offer. I love your little poem at the beginning of your page and just want to add that you are the support in my bra!(just kidding I'm a guy)--Warden (talk) 04:21, 21 April 2014 (MDT) always forget the signatures.
- No worries, people tend to respond by adding a response on the same page (as I'm doing now), but this is perfectly fine. I hope your drama was of a fun variety. I generally do my work by just fixing lil' things, so I guess we will interact a lot if you keep contributin'. I simply posted on your talk page so you could know how to name future articles without them having to be fixed. I'm already ecstatic that somebody cared to comment on my stupid tiny poem, so consider yourself the favourite catch on my corset. --Sargento Léon (La plática) 04:26, 21 April 2014 (MDT)
PFSRD
Is there any particular reason we haven't taken the main PFSRD page and linked it on the menubar on the left, like we have all the D&D Editions and Modern? Seems like its got enough to at least begin to try to get more PF Homebrew added in. Hooper talk contribs email 07:25, 6 September 2014 (MDT)
- Not to my knowledge. Last I talked it over with GD, he was just sayin' how it needed more content before being on the main sidebar, which I think is fair. To be honest, I ain't know at what point it's worth anythin'. --SgtLion (talk) 11:13, 6 September 2014 (MDT)
Kenshi
My dear illustrious militant leonine. I hath been attempting to creat a class called the Kenshi, of which there be many styles.
Ive been trying to make them all on one class body, and I've got it sort-of worked out. Could you take a look at it and give me suggestions for how to make the (consolidation? compilation?) work. Kenshi--Salasay Δ 16:40, 22 December 2014 (MST)
- Oh, such flattery, my lovely Salasay, you are truly a charming one.
- That kind of conglomeration of paths is always awkward to make work, I'd take notes from existing usefully formatted classes, one that came to mind was the Oracle from Pathfinder. Currently you've got the abilities and bonuses of each 'style' grouped by level, but you almost definitely want to group them by type, because that's what a player advancing their character would need. As a side bonus, it also allows people to homerule their own 'styles' if they wanted.
- In terms of things like mechanics I don't see any issues at the moment, myself. --SgtLion (talk) 13:18, 23 December 2014 (MST)
My Campaign Setting
My dear illustrious militant leonine. Thou hast thought that I hath requested of thou before. Methinks they shall pale to the hugeness of this one.
I have been making a Campaign Setting called Paramýth. I was wondering if you would be willing to look at the setting and what all I've got added (my user page has a section for it), and tell me what you think. Since there is a lot of material, I give you no pressure to look at it immediately, nor all at once. There is a lot not yet finished, but I'd like to get opinions on what I've got so far, and where to go next. Thank you and sorry in advance. --Salasay Δ 22:15, 24 January 2015 (MST)--Salasay Δ 22:15, 24 January 2015 (MST)
- Truly, you speak with such eloquence, my Salasay. Though that is a lotta stuff. I mean sure, I'll most happily look over it, not a worry (and also hunt down any rogue, evil grammar). I can't promise particularly useful opinions, though I'll try my best. --SgtLion (talk) 03:08, 26 January 2015 (MST)
Great Grammar Work
I, personally, appreciate all the grammar errors that you have been catching! As a side note, if you see the wording template and you have resolved its concerns please remember to remove this template. Keep up the good work! --Green Dragon (talk) 14:45, 4 February 2015 (MST)
- W-Wuh. I saw you made an edit and I'm not sure why I was so convinced I had accidentally ruined everything, but instead appreciation, whee~ I do try hard to get all 'da grammar, it makes me happy to know thatcha like it.
- I appreciate the friendly side note and I'll certainly keep it in mind. Buuuuut, if your reference to removing the wording template is about Vizison, I'd note that I was autofixing spelling, not fixin' any 'Grammatical' or 'spacing' errors. Since yooooou were the last editor of it, I assuuuumed they were still there. ;P I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot elsewhere though.
- Honestly though I live for the odd appreciative note, so thanks a bunch for also makin' the effort to thank me~ --SgtLion (talk) 05:24, 6 February 2015 (MST)
- I see what you mean. I just looked at the revision history and saw that someone had fixed all the errors that the previous wording template mentioned. I should have read the race over for grammar of course. I changed the template to better address how the grammar on the page currently reads. Thanks again! --Green Dragon (talk) 08:40, 6 February 2015 (MST)
Magazine
Hi SgtLion, here's some links for the magazine.
- The main page for Issue 0 is at D&D Wiki Magazine/Issue 0
- Discussion about specific features is happening on the talk page Talk:D&D Wiki Magazine/Issue 0
- The work-in-progress PDF is at https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=A87315F00A0F6581!626&app=WordPdf
Any help is appreciated, particularly with 3.5e material - are there any good-quality fire-themed 3.5e articles that could go in? General feedback on the magazine's formatting also. Thanks! Marasmusine (talk) 02:27, 19 March 2015 (MDT)
Taming Beasts
The history seems a little wonky. It looks like the original creator moved the page to correct its title... And then you moved it to make it wrong again? There is a redirect page which prevents it from being moved to its correct name. Am I reading the history wrong? Is that supposed to be spelled with two 'm's? --Kydo (talk) 15:31, 16 June 2015 (MDT)
- Oh, bit of a confusion has gone on there. I moved the old redirect page to the correct name. Which though kind of an improvement was probably a victim of multiple tabs. I'll take the opportunity to stress that I ain't moved things to the wrong name, I just didn't move the RIGHT thing to the correct name. I'll sort that out. --86.134.105.34 08:52, 17 June 2015 (MDT)
- My name is SgtLion and I approve that message. And thanks for bringing that up, 'twas my bad, in the end. --SgtLion (talk) 08:54, 17 June 2015 (MDT)
Redirects
I noticed you deleted a series of redirects left by me. (Thank you) I have also seen other users move pages without leaving redirects. How do I move a page without leaving all those useless redirects? --Kydo (talk) 18:59, 10 August 2015 (MDT)
- Thanks for the thanks~ Moving while suppressing a redirect is an admin-only ability, as without it, one can break all sorts of links, and we can't rely on users to check the 'What links here' page to avoid that if necessary.
- I wouldn't worry about it, most redirects are useful, especially when an article is linked to, I was only really clearing up double redirects.--SgtLion (talk) 08:17, 11 August 2015 (MDT)
Does this make sense?
Hey, I'm the newbie you inducted not too long ago. I made massive changes/ additions to the Mitani race and was hoping it all made sense. I'm still iffy on determining Level Adjustment and ECL, and I'm hoping I did the right math on the ht/ wt tables. Can you or another admin check it out? --GD-Psycho (talk) 20:55, 4 September 2015 (MDT)
- Cool stuff - It seems real good overall. I'd note that in the fluff you said they weigh ~200lbs., but the weight table seems to indicate 60-100lbs as the weight range, the tables look good otherwise. LA/ECL are hard to work out, especially when we start bringing racial hit die into the equation, so my personal opinion is that the +1 you have there is alright, but +2 LA could be justified too. I've done some minor formatting tweaks, just to make it a bit more traversable~ --SgtLion (talk) 02:35, 31 August 2015 (MDT)
- I use probability generators, mostly AnyDice, and see what's the most likely outcomes of the rolls to judge the tables. It told me that 3d6 will give 10 and 11 the most, and 5d6 give 17, 18. That tells me the average height/ weight is around 4' 7", 4' 6" and ~250 lbs. Should I broaden the scope of the averages?--GD-Psycho (talk) 20:55, 4 September 2015 (MDT)
Thanks for the assist
Thanks for reverting that edit on Catfolk, Tirr (3.5e Race). I didn't notice it until after I had finished that last string of regional feats. Much appreciated. Jwguy (talk) 14:20, 2 September 2015 (MDT)
- Not a worry, 's only because of that notice on top that I was double checkin' the edit there. Glad to be o' use --SgtLion (talk) 15:18, 2 September 2015 (MDT)
Editing Others Work
At first the title sounds touchy, but bear with me. When browsing through pages (I usually do this in the class index) I notice a lot of formats that can be edited to be clear or look better for organization. I looked through, but have a bit of difficulty finding a policy regarding this and wanted an answer from an admin who has been here for a while, and the question is "Am I allowed to edit someone else's page for grammar/formatting/ect; as long as it doesn't remove or edit class features?". If the answer is no or I missed where the rule is for this, can I get a explanation or link? --Bricius (talk) 14:44, 15 September 2015 (MDT)
- I suppose we should make it clearer, but we actively encourage editing others work, especially for grammar/syntax issues - So please, go for it, my like, first 300 edits are all grammar and format improvements. You should try to avoid any major changes to others' work, but all improvements are generally welcome. You can see guidelines over at Constructive Editing (DnD Guideline). --SgtLion (talk) 03:06, 16 September 2015 (MDT)
Hide/Show
Do you know if there are plans to implement a Hide/Reveal button to the wiki? I'm surprised it isn't available because some posts seem to get a bit on the lengthy side sometimes and this would help with organization...At least a little. --Bricius (talk) 07:19, 24 September 2015 (MDT)
- I guess it could be a cool lil' thing. I don't think there are any plans to add new extensions at the moment. I think if it's real necessary, you can use a class of table (as used in the source of Template:OGL Bottom) to make a show/hide button. But I've never really thought of it as a problem when the Table of Contents thingy is there to quick take me places, and talk pages are usually archived after 30 messages. --SgtLion (talk) 03:59, 25 September 2015 (MDT)
- It was also in thought for longer lists under class features. I ran into the problem of having too long a list of options for a class feature on he class I made recently, Incarnation of War (3.5e Class). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bricius (talk • contribs) . - Gosh, certainly is a lot of stuff, awesome. Personally, I think it look fine, but if you're set on it, you can try to master using that table stuff, or it might be worth leaving a message on Blue Dragon's talk page and askin' if we have something to achieve it. Though he seems distracted lately, he deals with all the wikicode adminnin' stuff, so maybe we have an extension I don't know about. --SgtLion (talk) 13:24, 25 September 2015 (MDT)

Review
Hi! Thanks for the welcome. I only have one question right now. I wrote this page a while back and was wondering about the "it needs review" tag. How do I get it reviewed? Do I ask an admin to review it, or just wait for someone to notice it, or go around begging for someone to look it over? And would you mind reviewing it yourself? Here's the page:
https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Gatherer_of_Souls_(3.5e_Class)
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely, Isaac Excalibur Drake
P.S. sorry for the double post, WiFi crapped out on me and did a weird thing.
--I fear a lot of things. Myself included. (talk) 13:30, 28 September 2015 (MDT)
- No worries - That template is automatically inserted so that we admins and experienced users can easily check over new articles we've missed on recent changes. The article looks pretty complete and well formatted, so awesome job. Though it might be worth putting that Soul gem list into bullet points or a table or something. I'll remove the review template for now, because it seems decent and good; You'd be worried at the odd quality content we get sometimes.
- P.S. Since you first made that class, I've been implementing a Pathfinder Homebrew section. I don't mind it being in whatever space, but might be nice to have that class in there too~ --SgtLion (talk) 03:27, 29 September 2015 (MDT)
- I've created it as a Pathfinder Class this time. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Gatherer_of_Souls_%28Pathfinder_Class%29 Right here. You can go ahead and put it on the Pathfinder homebrew list, and you can delete the 3.5 copy if you'd rather not have two of basically the same thing on the site. Thanks for your help!
