trying to sign up[edit]
Hi there Green Dragon, I am trying to sign up to the wiki and discord. My username is jeffythedragonslayer. I am not getting a password reset email and it looks like a help page was supposed to be created (linked from here https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Special:PasswordReset after filling out the forms) but it doesn't exist yet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.36.249.87 (talk • contribs) . - Hello there jeffythedragonslayer, although I am not Green Dragon, I am another admin who may be able to assist you. Looking at your situation, it does not appear like you managed to create an account on the wiki based off of the recent usercreationlog not listing your username and the fact that when one looks for your username on the creation log one can't find it. With that in mind, are you able to create an account by yourself? If you are having issues creating an account, you can DM me at blobby383b#1332 and I would be happy to assist you. --Blobby383b (talk) 17:54, 8 January 2022 (MST)
- Thanks, I tried again and got an account. --Jeffythedragonslayer (talk) 7:28 PM, 9 January 2022 (EST)
User page vandalism[edit]
As you've no doubt noticed, certain individuals are causing trouble by moving other individual's user pages to new page titles, many of which are quite flagrant violations of wiki policy. Here is a particularly egregious example. Would it be possible to instate a block on all user's ability to move user pages, perhaps with the exception of pages within their own namespace? I can't think of any legitimate reason that a user would need to move someone else's page, so it seems best to nip this in the bud before it happens yet again. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 19:08, 22 January 2022 (MST)
- Compared to the quagmire on normal vandal edits, preventing moving seems easier to take care of. Users being the only ones able to move their own talk pages makes sense --Yanied (talk) 19:38, 22 January 2022 (MST)
- If this somehow isn't possible, perhaps moving user (talk) pages could be barred altogether for non-admins? If anyone needs a page moved, they can just post on User talk:Admin. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 19:53, 22 January 2022 (MST)
- The main issue with this vandalism seems to be the move subpages function which normal users have access to. Either making this function admin only or as Geodude said, barring the movement of user pages/talk pages all together by non-admins would help solve the vandalism. --Blobby383b (talk) 04:54, 23 January 2022 (MST)
- Users should only be allowed to move their own talk pages now. Good idea! — Blue Dragon (talk) 15:32, 23 January 2022 (MST)

Vote Stuffing[edit]
Hey GD, today a user created a large number of alternate accounts in order to give multiple ratings to a page they created, Way of One Strike (5e Subclass). The alts have all been blocked, and the user warned, but the votes remain. Is there any way for admins to remove clearly fraudulent ratings from pages? — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 13:23, 12 February 2022 (MST)
- The offending votes have been removed from this page by Blue Dragon. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! --Green Dragon (talk) 12:42, 5 March 2022 (MST)
Creating a new type of reward?[edit]
Hello! I have flown up to the lair of a green dragon to ask how to create a Reward page. This is probably a stupid question, but I have a cool idea for a new reward. How do I make a page for it that shows up in the Other Rewards section?
Thank you for answering! "Enough small trees can kill anything" -- NerdyAarakocra (talk) 18:54, 21 February 2022 (MST)
- Those links are all static links, so you will have to create your page and then edit Other Rewards and add a link like the other links on that page. As soon as you have created your page, I can help you make sure that your categories are correct. Just link to the page here when it's made. The categories and formatting should be similar to the other rewards from that list. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:27, 22 February 2022 (MST)
- The link is https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Epic_Feats_(5e_Reward). I'm going to add more content, but for now, this is the page in all of its non-glory. Thanks for helping out! "Enough small trees can kill anything" -- NerdyAarakocra (talk) 17:03, 23 February 2022 (MST)

Specify :)[edit]
Hey, I saw that you commented on my class "Master Mirror" :) Thanks btw! I was just wondering if you could be more specific about this: "Mechanics without using game rules are present." As this is my first time ever making a homebrew :) Thanks :)

vandalism?[edit]
Has the vandalism stopped (for now)? I've been on overtime the last 4 (or 6) weeks. Redrum (talk) 09:00, 19 March 2022 (MDT)
- It seems to be waning, slightly. I assume it's a lot less fun when they can't spend 10+ minutes wreaking havoc, and are now basically relegated to 30 second bursts of nonsense. One or two still roll by every day though. --SwankyPants (talk) 10:04, 19 March 2022 (MDT)
A question[edit]
Am i allowed to make things blatantly overpowered? Like, i fully understand the need for balance in the game, but i just feel like we could make a page tag for overpowered things, so people stop getting needsbalance-ed for stuff. User:Bananaoverlord2345 10:19, 29 March 2022 (EST)
- {{Design Disclaimer}}, though this isn't encouraged or condoned for egregious ignorance of homebrew. There is still a level of balance expected. Revival (talk) 08:48, 29 March 2022 (MDT)

questions[edit]
hello im new here and i accidentaly got banned for editing, i didnt know theres a limit or it was perminent so i apologise..how do we post our own version of a race or creature to be considered for the page without upsetting the people out there and the admins i just want to contribute so have no problem following rules i just dont know the exact rules for everything —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jonger (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- I understand wanting to contribute, but the only thing you seem to be contributing is buffs to pages that really don't need to be stronger, which is why you recieved a week long block after a previous one day block. Even if it would be more accurate or appropriate for larger numbers, we try to reign things in as much as possible here, and that generally means conforming to the system's standards as much as possible. Feel free to contribute anything else to the wiki, but this isn't exactly the right avenue. As for making your own version, pages that are just "an existing page but better" are promptly put up for deletion or speedy deletion, for the same reasons similar edits on those pages would be undone. I don't want to be rude about it, but this is how things work here. --SwankyPants (talk) 13:16, 9 April 2022 (MDT)
- Adding on to what Swanky said, if you think a page needs to be stronger, you should justify the buff either in the edit summary, or ideally on the talk page. Be advised that pages should generally be on a power level comparable to first-party content. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :) — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 16:16, 9 April 2022 (MDT)

Is there a 3.5e (or 5e) creature called a wererabbit? Also, Is it possible to use a jackalope as a familiar? 23.251.18.223 16:57, 20 April 2022 (MDT)
- You can make a wererabbit easily in 3.5e using the SRD:Lycanthrope template. Yes, you can use a jackalope as a familiar just ask your DM and you may want to use an appropriately similar familiar creature stat block. --Green Dragon (talk) 12:56, 25 April 2022 (MDT)
Needsbalance reasons[edit]
Hi GD, can you please try to give more detailed reasons when applying maintenance templates, especially with {{needsbalance}}? A Discord user was concerned about the needsbalance you placed on Natural Weapon Master (5e Feat) being rather nondescriptive, and I agree. Just saying "this needs nerf" without describing why it needs to be nerfed is not very helpful to the OP, especially on such facially innocuous content as Natural Weapon Master. I've removed the needsbalance template for now; if you do re-place it, can you please provide more detailed reasoning? — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 13:20, 9 June 2022 (MDT)
Need help with renaming article[edit]
Hello, recently i started creating a class and just have noticed, that by mistake i named it the wrong way (currently its Infernal elf, should be Infernal Elf). Homunculus class changes[edit]
I was wondering if you could go back and fix the homunculus class it is very underpowered with a d6 hit die it cannot take advantage of regen and it seems that its unarmed combat based there is no scaling martial arts die or ac please fix this and it could do with fighter ability score improvements and an earlier extra attack then this class would be great and for hit dice go d12
- Hi there, can you link the specific page you're talking about? — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 22:46, 23 July 2022 (MDT)https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Homunculus_(5e_Class)
Here it is thank you for responding I'm just not sure how the unarmed are supposed to work if you +5 strength it 5 damage granted it's a big range but maybe I'm seeing something wrong why does homunculus have d6 why not d8, d10, or d12
- I changed the hit die to a d8, but a d12 is too much with all the features the class gets. Ability score improvements are the same for all classes. However, I changed the AC to use the proficiency bonus. More bonuses are simply too much, with features like Beyond Mortal which is probably actually not playable. --Green Dragon (talk) 10:32, 25 July 2022 (MDT)
- Did you give it a martial arts die like how monks level there unarmed attacks every few levels. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:1700:81d2:1c50:b14c:8dda:b15:8528 (talk • contribs) 21:07, 25 July 2022 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

If you very much want to not have this account anymore, you can change the password to some gibberish and not write it down. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 13:20, 15 September 2022 (MDT)
Foodstuff[edit]
Is there a 3.5e class or 5e Archetype called an Ultimate Chef? I mean something that deals with food(magical or not). 23.251.23.83
- There is the Adventure Chef (3.5e Class). There is also the deleted page Master Cook which is vastly incomplete, and has been deleted. If you me to restore the Master Cook so that you can move it to your userspace I can do it. There are a few 5e subclasses with food as their main theme. A simple search will yield a few good results. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:33, 24 October 2022 (MDT)
World Hopper[edit]
Is there a background about a character that travels between (campaign) worlds? 23.251.23.83
- If there is a connection between different campaign settings, then this should be covered by the setting (and not a character that is designed to break the bounds of the game). #OpenDnD[edit]
Hey GD, when I heard of WotC drama I immediately thought about this site. A few things I've been wanting to ask you about:
- Are you aware of the leaked OGL 1.1?
- Are you able to give any insight regarding the wiki and its relation to new *leaked* license? or;
- Are you able in discussions with legal people to protect this site?
I am assuming you are waiting for something official before making plans, but my understanding is the new OGL was/is going to give one week... I hope they give more. Cheers sir! Revival (talk) 18:35, 9 January 2023 (MST)
- Do you mean the possibility that Wizards of the Coast will revoke the OGL? Otherwise, can you provide a link?
- If it is possible for a company to claim counsel through a license of published pages, then obviously D&D Wiki will follow the legal Miranda. Luckily, this site uses mainly the GNU Free Documentation License 1.3 as you know, so this is only for pages like the SRD and some other ones. "Open licenses can involve a lot of legalese that makes them hard for a layperson to understand, but if you’re going to rely on one, or if you want others to rely on your own open license, it’s important to use one that is robust and meets your needs. Licenses like Creative Commons and the GNU Public License were written to serve the interests of creative communities, rather than a corporation, and it shows."
- OGL offers the benefit to "copy verbatim some descriptions of some elements that otherwise that otherwise might arguably rise to the level of copyrightability". This means, that if the license were to get revoked, as long as the SRD isn't accessible then we are not using the benefits of the OGL.
- I personally do not believe that a company can update a license for already published pages, like the following statement points to. In the existing literature (D&D Books) this content is under a specific license, and no one needs to add Wizards of the Coast's errata to their books. "Since the contract is accepted when someone “uses” the licensed material, then people who relied on the OGL 1.0a have a good argument under contract law that Wizards of the Coast cannot unilaterally withdraw the value that it offered under the contract. This would apply to people who “accepted” the OGL 1.0a by using the relevant material prior to receiving notice that Wizards is rescinding that offer. In short, games that held up their end of the bargain under the OGL 1.0a are entitled to the benefit Wizards of the Coast promised them under that contract. But Wizards can revoke the offer of the OGL 1.0a as to new potential users who haven't yet accepted its terms."

Pathfinder 2[edit]
Hiya GD, you might have noticed I've been working on transcribing the Pathfinder 2e Core Rulebook to the wiki. Could we get "PF2 SRD" added as an actual namespace? — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 12:56, 11 February 2023 (MST)
- Thank you for adding the namespace, however when you added it, it seems you made the searchbar default to searching the 3e SRD instead of the main namespace. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 11:37, 24 February 2023 (MST)
- Are you certain that your default search settings are not set for the 3e SRD? Have you tried logging out and searching without being logged in? --Green Dragon (talk) 12:26, 16 May 2023 (MDT)
4e Ritual[edit]
I know this is a long time ago, but I would appreciate your help. The templates "4e Ritual (Form Input - Top)" and "4e Ritual (Form Input - Bottom)" are currently unused, but it appears as though they would have been placed on 4e Ritual Preload but weren't. Are they obsolete, or mistakenly not on the preload. Coaldstone (talk) 13:23, 7 April 2023 (MDT)
- Oh yes, they where added to see if we could use forms to automatically fill out generated lists without using the confusing form code, but it didn't work like it was intended. --Green Dragon (talk) 11:55, 11 April 2023 (MDT)
News[edit]
Can we be allowed to add to the news section, instead of restricting the privilege to the admins?--Sorcerer (talk) 22:41, 10 April 2023 (MDT)
- You can use the talk page and we can add the news items that you want added. It's a sensitive area of D&D Wiki so the restriction that only admins can edit the page makes a lot of sense. --Green Dragon (talk) 11:52, 11 April 2023 (MDT)

Hi GD, can you please try to give more detailed reasons when applying maintenance templates? A Discord user was concerned about the {{delete}} you placed on Brutal Blade (5e Spell) being rather nondescriptive, and I agree. Brutal blade deletion template reason[edit]

Need help balancing a 5e homebrew race[edit]
I’ve been working on a homebrew race for the past few months, the Sphurx. I’ve just made a new iteration of it, but I’m not sure if it’s actually balanced. Note that while the document does have a crap ton of grammar mistakes, I’m currently focusing on balancing since I have a DnD session coming up that I plan to use the race for. I can always shove it into grammarly later if I need to. I don’t intend to upload it to the DnD Wiki for the time being. If you’re interested in helping me out, the document is in the link.
Edit: I no longer need help.

Questions on the Muscle Wizard class[edit]
Hello Green Dragon,
I wanted to message you since you've contributed to the Muscle Wizard class. I've been trying out the vanilla D&D classes (still have 4 more to try) but when I encountered the Muscle Wizard, I feel like one of my next characters has to be a Muscle Wizard. I've read the class multiple times to understand the class (damn it's pretty OP in some places). However there were a couple of things about the class that I'm unsure of, and I'm hoping to clear a couple of things.
1) For the Brutal Fist, does the damage die stack on top of the regular damage from unarmed strikes (1 + Strength modifier) or is it just damage die? And if so, do you add strength or intelligence modifier to the attacks?
2) For the Serious Fist, I'm a bit confused about the last bullet point, the "ground cracks and debris is scattered around in a 25 ft radius from the shockwave". Except I've never seen anything about a shockwave mentioned in the Serious Fist ability. Does it refer to the 50ft conical blast wave or the explosion that comes in a 25ft radius?
That's all I need to know. Thank you so much for your response! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.164.5.224 (talk). Please sign your posts.

Hey, you don't watch the discord server as much so I figure I'll let you in on what happened there. There was a copyright issue, the original creators of the content(which IS was taking to put on the wiki) came and wanted it removed. The plan was to remove the material altogether, he was just doing it the wrong way. --SwankyPants (talk) 15:50, 6 February 2024 (MST)

Permission to make a variant class of your Planar Sniper[edit]
Good evening Peter,
My name is Dom and I admire the Planar Sniper class you have made. I saw there was a lot of really cool aspects behind it and was wondering if I may have your permission to make a variant class of the one you have designed. My goal is to edit some of the abilities and condense them down with my knowledge of military weapons, to include experience. I have play tested this class and found it fun, but noted that some of the ideas could be reworked for a better overall experience.
If you would grant me permission, please message me.

Is there a set of tools that can be used to make SIMPLE toys? (I don't just mean from just 1 material like cloth, wood, and clay but a little of EVERYTHING.) 23.251.23.105 13:47, 26 July 2024 (MDT)

The Plagiarism Is Strong With This One[edit]
Hello.
I recently requested a DELETE of a variant 5e homebrew monk class page that was a near-complete copy of one of my own classes (Brother Superior) and added no variant value. The only difference was the addition of an image of a martial artist, and it was created by user giovannigonzales and "moved" (by what process, I'm not certain) by ADMIN SirSprinkles. I don't see it showing up any more so I presume the deletion process was completed.
Yesterday, I noticed another monk class with the same Summary text as the one I'd requested deletion of: HKR Style (https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/HKR_Style_(5e_Class). When I opened it up, I saw it had that same image of the martial artist in it, and that it ALSO had copied excerpts from my OWN monk class! It was ALSO authored by giovannigonzales and again had some editing by SirSprinkles. Now, I understand that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" but in the world of literature, it's called Plagiarism. No permission requested for copying, and no credits referenced in the discussion.
HKR Style opens with the same "So, young ones..." introduction as Brother Superior, and it copies the top-tier class ability "True Enlightenment" word-for-word as I'd written it:
"At 20th level, due to a monk’s harmony with the universe, for one minute, he can perceive Order in the chaotic maelstrom that is reality and apply his Wisdom bonus to ANY die roll, or DOUBLE the wisdom bonus on all rolls that allow wisdom bonuses. This can make him a more effective combatant, or allow him to perceive something the unenlightened would miss outside of combat. The monk can harness his True Enlightenment again only after finishing a long rest to realign himself."
This plagiarism still exists and requires correction. But here's where it gets really interesting:
The Brother Superior class used to have SEVEN tweaks that made it different from the official SRD monk class, including True Enlightenment. A couple months ago, I relented and replaced Brother Superior's "True Enlightenment" with the original "Perfect Self" ability. If I went back and looked at an older version of the class in its history, I should still see that, right? But the only thing remaining of True Enlightenment are some editing datestamps mentioning it in the history. Surely, my text of the ability should still exist (all seven tweaks, including True Enlightenment) in an older version, but it's almost as if it was edited out without any record...? Is such a thing even possible and if so, does it require more than User permissions?
I'm not certain if User: giovannigonzales exists any more, or if other users have experienced unusual editing issues, which is why I'm bringing this issue to you. Twice now, I've seen portions of just a single contribution copied elsewhere and it tends to stifle my willingness to contribute more. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
- I agree that those pages aren't different enough to justify being a separate page. Both pages have been speedily deleted. I don't believe giovannigonzales edits any more, so I'm not very concerned about them continuing to copy other users' work. As for the True Enlightenment feature, I'm not sure what you could be referring to as far as not being able to find it again. This edit is where you replaced True Enlightenment with the Perfect Self feature, and I found this in just a few minutes by clicking on a random old revision, seeing that the feature existed in that version, and clicking "newer revision" until I found the edit where the feature was replaced.
- Please let me know if you have any other issues that need addressing. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 20:03, 29 September 2024 (MDT)
Dark Artist[edit]
How would you define the Dark Arts? 23.251.23.105
- I think that calling something "Dark Arts" means that there is sort of evil presence that a certain player, NPC or creature resonates with. Defining evil can only be done by setting certain criteria for why these certain acts are detrimental to the same types of people. For me, the dark arts is a way of supporting and using imagination to explore these "evil" criterion. --Green Dragon (talk) 12:51, 29 October 2024 (MDT)
