Trouble formatting a Homebrew Class

Hi Peter,

I am not new user here, but I have not really posted much to really understand how it all works. I recently finished a Homebrew Class I would like to post, but I am having a really hard time getting it to appear in a neat, orderly and easy to follow fashion. I was wondering if you could help me or maybe refer me to another admin if you are really busy. Thank you.

Okay, I took a look at it. --Green Dragon (talk) 03:37, 5 May 2019 (MDT)
Sorry! I should have said that one has been giving me trouble but the one I am talking about I have not even posted because I can't really get any where with it. It you want to take a look at it I have PDF on my Google Drive (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w2_RHVhz-pDYHuQfQaONl_BLEbCoQjFs/view?usp=sharing). The main issue is the organization of the class on the page here and the tables make things easier to follow and I can't add any here plus when I try to rearrange them it becomes hard to follow.

Again, I am sorry I don't think about specifying which class at the time.

I can't help you there, sorry. I don't know about that formatting at all. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:08, 5 May 2019 (MDT)

Slayer Mage Class

Hey man, sorry for just editing your Slayer Mage without asking, it was on the too overpowered list, and since the class was based off of fairy tail i couldn't help but do something, sorry for just doing stuff without checking with you, but would it be fine if i would like to add some more ideas if i hav any? If not, then fine. Garret 23.28, 6 May 2019 (GMT+8)

Be bold. Your edits are most welcome, and can always be reverted if they are counter-collaboration. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:47, 13 May 2019 (MDT)

Actually, i did make some sort of downside part of the class to make it not that op in later levels, but i reverted it back bcoz of god slayer, demon slayers and god slayers arent as fleshed out as dragon slayers, so not much are known about them. Dragon Slayers after a certain point, when their power is very high, they become vulnerable to motion sickness. Demon slayers has a downside, but idk how to work with it. If someone learns demon slayer magic too fast, they'll get cursed, but how to make it doable is hard, so i just settled sith them getting more damaged by radiant type attacks. God slayers are like the least fleshed out ones even now, you need to be really experienced to make a downside for it. Garret

I agree that some good changes have been made since the page has been protected. You really need to address the issue which is stated on {{needsbalance}} however. --Green Dragon (talk) 21:35, 14 May 2019 (MDT)

Also. Is it fine to take out this rule about using only a handful of spell schools it really brings it down to more or less 20 spells that can be learned. Garret

Requesting eyes and balance edits for the Samurai

Hey just wondering if I could get a balancing eye on this class please: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Samurai_(5e_Class). It's pretty loaded with features and some of them definitely ignore a 5e's bound accuracy model. I like the flavor of it, I just think that it needs to be reigned in some. Mostly in the raw number of features. Heck, it learns more stances than are actually available. Will drop a NeedsBalance tag on it as well. Thank you for your time.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 17:17, 30 May 2019 (MDT)

Transmutation Alchemist (Variant) Edit

The edit you undid was just taken from another page, and doesn't make sense on that page. Note how it references "Circle size" and "Alchemist Stamina" when they aren't mentioned. And the whole text is copied and pasted from https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Transmutation_Alchemist_(5e_Class). Just letting you know :)

Swordmage, Variant 2

Thank you for protecting my Swordmage, Variant 2 class. I don't log in as much as I should anymore, but I do every so often and saw the edit history between you and the non-registered user for this post. I appreciate you looking out for people's individual works. Thank you again.

Help With Forge Master Formatting

Heyo I checked the helpers page and it said you are a helper with formatting, I can get by with formatting, but I can't get past ugly and clunky. If you get a chance could you help me out with the Warlock Subclass "Forge Master Patron"?

How to make a class private

How would one make a class private, I was shown once but forgot. I saw a class for which I wished to tweak but not jus make it and slap it to the public view. Just for private fun for my game. My apologies for troubling you

There is a move button at the top that lets you move the page, I could move it to your user page for you to edit freely there if you give me the link. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 22:45, 27 June 2019 (MDT)
https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Solar_Knight_(5e_Class)
You mean a copy, since you didn't create that class? --Green Dragon (talk) 23:27, 27 June 2019 (MDT)
Yes that's what I meant. Many apologies for the confusion on my part.
You can find your copy here: User:Bigboi21/SolarKnight. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 00:13, 28 June 2019 (MDT)

Thanks and would the move button work when ever I wished to copy something to my user page? Sorry to be a bother

No, you'll have to edit>select all>copy and then paste into your user subpage. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 00:37, 28 June 2019 (MDT)

Okay thanks, again sorry for the bother

Thanks for moving the page back to the subpage. I was trying to just fix a spelling error in the title and it got put on to the user and had no idea how that happened. And a thank you to geodude for deleting those excess pages.

Would it be possible for you or Blue Dragon to have Dandwiki Helper bot-delete all pages in Category:Duel Terminal: Order of the Warlords? The main campaign page was deleted earlier today, but since that category has over 200 pages it would be a huge PITA to delete everything by hand. Just thinking about this for convenience's sake. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 10:52, 22 July 2019 (MDT)
I don't have the means. We also need to check the history, since it is possible that some of those pages have multiple authors. This is the main reason I think we need to change the policy so we don't need to have this extra workload. --Green Dragon (talk) 13:56, 22 July 2019 (MDT)

Curious

Do people in your professional life know you are the Green Dragon of D&D Wiki? and that you and ol' Blue run this thing? Is it hard or easy to contain being numero 1 (tied with BD) on the home user-generated homebrew and number 1 site for homebrew google searches?? ~ BigShotFancyMan 10:14, 10 July 2019 (MDT)

BigShotFancyMan, what makes you think GD isn't a WotC employee? --Redrum 17:28, 10 July 2019 (MDT)
I’ve got a hunch they aren’t :p   ~BigShotFancyMan   talk   18:15, 10 July 2019 (MDT)
What's quite interesting is when I tell someone I know who doesn't know in real life that I am Green Dragon, but knows D&D Wiki, that I am Green Dragon. That normally makes the conversation more interesting. And, no, neither I nor Blue Dragon are WotC employees. --Green Dragon (talk) 22:51, 10 July 2019 (MDT)
Oh man, to be a fly on a wall for one of those conversations would be so cool lol   ~BigShotFancyMan   talk   06:50, 11 July 2019 (MDT)
Green Dragon, the employee comment was a half-joke. --Redrum 13:10, 13 July 2019 (MDT)
LOL Redrum. But that's interesting, GD. I would be so amused to tell someone' "Wait, you know Green Dragon on D&D Wiki? Hey, that's me!" XD Good question BSFM. --Cosmos (talk) 11:44, 16 July 2019 (MDT)

Editing my race Stolen (5e)

Hello Mr. Dragon,

I had just whipped this class up and say the edits you were putting on the class and was wondering if you had time to talk a little more in depth on some of the points you made. I edited the page and left some small remarks next to each point you made regarding the traits for the race.

I'd appreciate the chance to perfect the race as I very much like the idea of it!

Thanks, Nathan (Eagle)

You will have to ask ConcealedLight about your changes, since he added the maintenance template in the first place. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:34, 17 July 2019 (MDT)

Book

Hello! I'm writing a little D&D book and I was wondering if I'm allowed to use ideas found on this page, or any page of the wiki: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/100_Adventure_Ideas_(DnD_Other)

I apologize - I tried to look through the licenses so I wouldn't have to bother anyone, but I'm bad at that stuff. If I'm reading this page right (https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/D%26D_Wiki:Copyrights#GNU_Free_Documentation_License) I believe I am allowed to do this as long as I allow the same kind of copying of the book I'm writing? And include the GNU license within the first pages of the book? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bonanzastirring (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Essentially, yes. The GFDL means that you can distribute your book, commercially or non-commercially (i.e. you are entitled to ask for, and receive money if you want to), provided you place no restrictions on further reading or copying of your book. Based Quincy (talk) 11:54, 18 August 2019 (MDT)

Wiki version

Hey, I am wanting to make a wiki specific to my campaign. I like the layout of dndwiki, and wondered what version or "flavor" of wiki did you use? Thanks!

saiyan fighter

wanted to talk with you about a few of the changes that you reverted, the super saiyan adding extra 1d4 makes no sense when the die itself is increasing and no longer deals bludgeoning

there is also the fact that you take your own attacks damage in final flash, the attack is super underpowered

there is also the transformation effects, why would a temp transformation let you pick a stat out of three to increase when it should be increasing all three of them?

oh and double your proficiently modifier is expertise, why would you revert that?

if im not allowed to edit said page please let me know

Why does an additional 1d4 make no sense? It would then be 2d4, 1d6 + 1d4, etc.
Why should the transformation increase all three stats? This is just adding more power to a class which is better than the monk.
"Expertise" is not an official term. This mechanic needs to be explicitly stated. --Green Dragon (talk) 08:22, 26 August 2019 (MDT)
Expertise
At 3rd level, you choose two of your skill proficiencies. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of the chosen proficiencies. (PHB p. 54)
That’s the name of a class feature, not a game term. It might seem like splitting hairs but the phrase “you have expertise in [skill]” doesn’t actually make sense given a strict reading of RAW. — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 07:00, 27 August 2019 (MDT)

Can't find a certain class.

Hi Green Dragon

I was just wondering if you happend to have any knowledge on where the Gods, Leviathan, Titans class might be, if it was deleted, then i seem to be unable to locate it in the deleted section, last I saw of it, it was in the unbalanced list and that was back in February 2019.

Thank you for your help in advance.

An Overly-Complicated New class

Hello Mr. Green Dragon sir,

I'm an old user of your site, but a new account. (and hopefully contributor!) I've recently started working on designing my own campaign based around the idea that humans were a once-thriving now-extinct species. They were technologically advanced and magically gifted, and most of the "fantasy" creatures in-game are the result of their experiments. (I say most because while humans may have opened portals to the other planes of existence, they clearly didn't make everything. But I digress: as a result of making a campaign, I've decided to design items, three subclasses, a race, and a whole new class to accompany it. I plan to post all of these things eventually, but my main concern is the custom class, which I will refer to as the Industrialist (tinkerer and inventor were already taken, and my ideas were so different I felt like calling it a "variant" was inappropriate). One of the main features of the Industrialist is going to be their mechanical innovations, and how they can be changed and improved over time. If I create the class, would I be allowed to create separate pages for the different features? For example, steam power is a vital part of the class, for purposes of manufacturing, transportation, and generating electricity. Would I be allowed to create a separate page covering Steam Engines (and the various upgrades and combinations of them and other D&D elements) and have it be a page that can only be accessed via link on the Industrialist class page? And if so, would I be allowed to use this idea for other aspects of the class? (such as weapon creation, enterprise management, etc?)

Yours Truly, Jakmanseven

Bot

Hi GD; I've created an account for my bot to use rather than running the script through my account. The bot's username is Geobot671; could you or BD grant it admin perms when you get a chance? — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 11:57, 5 September 2019 (MDT)

Sure. We have had multiple discussions about marking pages with maintenance templates for long periods of time for deletion. The only consensus we have reached was to mark them as abandoned. Please replace the templates on these pages with your bot. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:09, 5 September 2019 (MDT)
Thanks! I didn't realise there wasn't a consensus around that. I don't need to use the bot for that though; the Replace Text extension will perform that function just fine. :) — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 00:22, 6 September 2019 (MDT)

Random Page Function

I just noticed this, and not sure if it is something that can be controlled on the backend or not, but the "Random Page" function includes the possibility of a user clicking it and ending up on a talk page. I would assume that someone clicking on Random Page would be mostly interested in the front-facing content, and not the behind the scenes discussions as much. Unless others think differently. Is it possible to control the parameters of what spaces are in the pool to be dropped into randomly on that or is that just a default wiki setting?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   11:19, 8 September 2019 (MDT)

Of course what you're saying is right. I really doubt that it can changed since it's a part of MediaWiki, but maybe there is an extension which would change it. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:04, 8 September 2019 (MDT)

Question Regarding a Homebrew Subclass

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Way_of_the_Six_Forbidden_Seals_(5e_Subclass)

In the Subclass linked above there is what I find to be an interesting set of mechanics, but they leave me wondering due to the wording of how the seals are dealt with. It says, "Each Seal takes a bonus action to be released, and each Memory Seal takes one full action to be released." But I could not find anywhere where it says what it takes to reseal any of the seals, maybe I am being a blind fool and just missing it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Midnyte64 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

You're right, it seems like it does not list how long it takes to reseal the seals. Feel free to add that in yourself! :) --Cosmos (talk) 06:52, 10 September 2019 (MDT)
Sorry about the whole not signing thing, and it seems like the Memory Seal part might have been intended to be for resealing the Seals, but was typoed. Thank you for replying though. ^-^ Midnyte64 (talk) 10:48, 10 September 2019 (MDT)
No problem, glad I could help! --Cosmos (talk) 11:09, 10 September 2019 (MDT)

Duplicate Template Calls in SRD.

I've been going through the "Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls" category, and have fixed all the trivial calls, but there are a bunch I don't know because I don't have the original texts. If you get the time, or someone with the source material, to double check which are correct that'd be great.

I believe the only things that deviate from this are the majority of the spells that have a conflict with multiple |tsea and |subj arguments. I'm not sure how those should be resolved.

Thanks. Coaldstone (talk) 22:53, 10 September 2019 (MDT)

Pit Fighter

Hi there!

This is talentlessgm, sorry about breaking the rules. I thought by comparing the differences in real life, it would show the issues with how I felt the class was overpowered. [Basically when you would use those rules in real life and RP, versus how they worked in the class.] I didn't realise this fell under that policy as I was discussing the class, however, I'll be sure to keep that in mind for the future!

I didn't want to apologize on the page as that would potentially fall under the same policy, however, I wanted to make sure that you knew I saw that and will make sure I don't break those rules in the future.

Thank you very much and have a great day!

people that edited my content

i received a message saying Blobby383b edited my page. he turned it into basically an alternate combat focused wizard from D&D instead of anything similar to a naruto type ninja.this is about the thread https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Talk:Naruto_Ninja,_Variant_(3.5e_Class) i would prefer it was deleted instead of altered to something not at all like what i had originally made.Blobby383b basically made it into a copy of another page i have seen. i made this page cause i had already looked through the created homebrew content and found nothing close to what i wanted—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Techpriest35 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

I would appreciate it if you didn't accuse me of things I didn't do as on the history of that very page, you can see that I only added the wording to the page and moved it so it had an identifier(3.5e Class) and included the variant name.--Blobby383b (talk) 21:13, 18 September 2019 (MDT)
Techpriest35, I don't understand what you're asking. Multiple IPs Revert?

Hey, I was wondering if you could take a look at the Vessel (5e Class). It appears, to me, that a lot of unwanted changes were made to the page by different IPs. I was wondering if you could take a look at it, and possibly undo those changes if deemed appropriate. Thanks. Coaldstone (talk) 18:14, 1 October 2019 (MDT)

It looks okay to me. The edits fleshed out parts of the class which were missing before, and tied it together with the parts it overtook. Although there are formatting and capitalization mistakes, overall it's constructive. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:21, 14 October 2019 (MDT)

D&D 5E: Warlord

Hey. So sorry for skipping the whole chain and coming here first, but I couldn't figure out how to actually message your other admins.

So basically I was skimming through the Warlord class and I noticed that someone had gone through it and replaced certain sections with "pussay", give or take seven or eight S's. I changed one of them back, but I honestly have no idea what the rest of the content was that had been changed. I figured I should tell someone.

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:12, 14 October 2019 (MDT)
