Formatting

Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Help:Portal also provides detailed explanation of information important specifically to this community.

I've been thinking, Yanied... You've been around for a while now, you're a prolific editor, and your contributions are consistently helpful and high-quality. I get the impression that you'd do well as an administrator, and you'd be able to do a lot of good for our website if you were entrusted with administrator tools. You can read about what admins do here on Wikipedia. In practice, on our wiki at least, it's not actually that big a responsibility - being an admin just means you're a "trusted user" and you have a bit more power than other users as a result. Image Links Tip (You may find this useful?)

Hello Yanied, I noticed the last edit on your userpage where you said that didn't know how to link to image pages without creating a huge picture. When you're linking to images, you can change the output size of the image by, instead of simply using [[File:Example.jpg]] to link to an image, adding a vertical bar at the end of the link followed by how many pixels in size you want your image to be. For example, if you want to limit the size of an image to 200 pixels, you could use the link, [[File:Example.jpg|200px]]. Does that help? Based Quincy (talk) 19:28, 30 March 2019 (MDT)

Ralis

Hello! I recently saw you edited up the Ralis race, and it is awesome that you did so, especially because writing isn't exactly my strong suit however, the direction you went with it is quite different from what I imagined the race to be. Essentially you created a perfect homunculus. The Ralis, while could be considered that are the orb itself, it is a soul cage. Or as one of my buddies calls it, it turns you into a meat gundam. The soul gets sucked into the orb, then you control the meat suit. I understand its confusing, but essentially I wanted to create a magical item, that is the race itself, the orb is the race, not the body itself.

Ah, yes, sorry if I mussed up your vision a lot... It's just that I have a preference against making races that use a base race, due to their variability, which can sometimes be a balance issue. The traits themselves also had effects that were either not wholly 5e standard, or made the race too strong at a starting level. It was awesome seeing what you did have though, and if you want to try and make your vision come to fruition in a different way, I'd say do it!--Yanied (talk) 19:41, 8 June 2019 (MDT)

Hey, don't know how to direct message on here, so this is how we message I guess. You asked about the Lospiri setting on my page (Cammino3). While I was originally planning on making it a 5e setting, after extensive homebrew work in 5e, I've come to the conclusion that it won't work for the setting. Pokémon Evolution

I noticed on the Deino page the feats act as the pokemon evolution and thought that was a pretty slick way to deal with that quality. Do all the pokemon you help with or create use the same process? Yeah, you could. Thing is that some of the races were made readily as last evolutions (because their first evolution may not be appropriate or enough to be a race), so this is not possible for all of them. Truth be, credit goes to CL for mentioning how feats act as evolutionary in Discord. Racial Help

I'd like some help making a race, small Cybertronians. Not normal size like Boulder or Bumblebee, but smaller ones like Arcee and Groove. Do you think you could help me? No, no, see, the "smaller" Autobots are actually like 10 feet tall. They're smaller because normal sized ones are almost 15. I think that would count as large. Ah. In that case, yes, the cybertronians would be Large. As a courtesy note of caution, for any large race maker: Large races have an inherent bonus due to their size lending strength and allowing them to wield certain weapons, as well as grapple easier (iirc). So Just be aware of that for the balance aspect.

Administration

All aboard the S.S. Adminship!

Welcome to Adminship. You are now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. You have more burden on yourself now that you are an admin because users will be looking at you for editing help, knowledge about pages, etc. Make sure to familiarize yourself with Meta Pages to help address this burden. I recommend you take a look at Special:ListGroupRights if you have not already. Some of the new feature's uses follow: You can now delete pages, protect pages, rollback edits, block users and IP's, edit every page, patrol edits, and do a couple more minor things.

• Deleting pages is normally done through Category:Candidates for Deletion. Anything with a good reason to be deleted on that page should be deleted. Other times pages should be deleted is in the case of vandalism, spam, or even when someone makes a page and after a few edits they either blank the page or replace it with something like "Please delete this". If this page consisted of close to just the preload it is fine to just delete it.
• Protecting pages has quite a few different times when it should be used. Pages should be protected according to the author's wishes (with Template:Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of conflict (with Template:Temp Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of OGC published materials (with Template:OGL Top added to the top of the page in question and Template:OGL Bottom added to the bottom), or finally if the page is a vital part of D&D Wiki's organization. Also, if it deals with D&D Wiki's organization the page needs to be protected. For Example 3.5e Homebrew is protected from all non-sysop edits. No template needs to be added to pages if they are part of D&D Wiki's organization (even though some do exist like Template:Admin Locked Page)
• Blocking a user or IP should be used with respect to policy. To block someone just click "block" (found on Recent Changes, the diff in question, the userpage, etc) and fill out the corresponding form. For a typical vandalism attack I normally block the user for two weeks. Certain things demand a longer block and others a shorter. No standards have been set for block lengths so use your best judgment.
• Editing every page on D&D Wiki mostly means you can now edit the 5e SRD, 3.5e SRD and the MSRD. Feel free to edit them if inaccuracies are found. If interested further please look at their To-Do lists; I am sure your help will be appreciated.

Now that you are an admin I would say more burden is placed on you, but I really hope you enjoy being an admin and I hope you decide to stay around on D&D Wiki for a while more to come. Hahaha, yeah that's actually creeping up on me too at the moment. I think it's holiday fatigue. You know, a marionette actually isn't that different to a puppet. The only real difference is that a marionette is normally controlled from above with strings while a puppet is hollow so it can be manipulated from within. That doesn't mean that a marionette can't be a puppet or a puppet can't be a marionette. They're kind of interchangeable nowadays, you can use either word for either product. The X

I’ve been considering moving the page of around 20 5e classes to remove the word “The” from the page title, as it just sounds clunky and often restricts makes the pages seem restrictive. took over a page that was abandoned did a total rewite

how do i remove the abandoned status on the page?
i have cleared all the other statuses on the page.

nope I'm done spent hours fixing that page and someone went in and reverted it to the original so i made a new page and none of the links work and it was tagged as incomplete and will be deleted in 3 days ... i dont know enought html to fix it and i have had it i took a screenshot of the page as it was i am just done i was planning to make several homebrew character races giving them back the power of the original race for the experienced dm to work into their worlds but this has put me off im doing all this on my phone and have to keep stopping to look up how to do things as i don't know html......

i don't know how to link it to here but if you look up harpy owl race you should find one that is awful listed as abandoned look at the edit history and look before it was reverted there should be a second page that is listed as incomplete and unbalanced it is the new page i tried to make with all the unworking links.

I believe this is the race: Harpy, Variant (5e Race). So according to the admin who undid your edits, it was because your formatting was off, using only raw HTML. Also, he thinks you copied it from the book due to the "kobold press tome of beasts" that was at the top of the page. And it was not properly written as a race. It had a lot of creature qualities. Lastly, you did the edits anonymously under an IP rather than with your account. Please use your account to edit when possible instead and sign your comments. thats the one and i used the monster from the kobold press book so i put the name and page in there as a reference for people i am aware it has ALL of the features of the monster they have been balanced out to have all its racial abilities by 5th level. i have been playing since 2nd ed came out and have made many races into player races in my homebrew i do not take away things from the monster race i slowly introduce them as the characters level otherwise arnt we just playing the core race mechanics with different shapes.

You might want to consult the 5e Race Design Guide for help and consider checking out some of the comparable Featured Articles. As I see it, the language and flavor of the race from your edits certainly appears to have been copied somewhat. The race template is also completely gone. Multiattacking and negative ability scores for a race is also not really something in 5e, and blindsight needs to have more constraints since it is so powerful. If you look around at some of the completed 5e races, you'll see what makes them different from official races is also their lore as well as their mechanics. Hey, Yanied, can you tell me what exactly a campaign seed is? My sister wants to put a faction that I created on here, but I have no idea how to do that, and all I've seen about factions is "campaign seed", a term I don't understand. Here is the page: Campaign Seeds (DnD Other). They're basically non-specific campaign ideas you can "plant" into generic settings. But they are generally not long enough to be entire settings themselves. Think of them as something like quests with environments or plot hooks to new things. Re-balanced Barbs Reaper

As requested, I went and made some changes to the Barbs Reaper subrace, but I do request that we keep the bonus of extra cash because not all dungeon masters allow XP, so GP is the closest thing to XP I can allow players to get while remaining true to the source material. And I also request permission to remove the incomplete tag. Thanks.

New Race Collab

Hello, Yanied, how are you? I joined the community a couple of days ago; as an admin, you sent me a welcome message and already helped me with my race's page settings, I thank you for that. I actually joined the community just to relax and let my creativity flow freely, thus aiming to create a couple of races and maybe a class. I am not a D&D player, and I don't intend to be. But then how did I get here? I have friends that play and presented this wonderful universe for me, as I love to create fictional characters for existing universes (OCs), I started creating a party and a story for them. I discovered this wiki when searching for different races for newer characters I was creating, and it was a great resource. Now I got to the point in my creation where I designed new races, a couple actually, for now, and I thought there was no better place to present them then in here.

So, a couple of days ago I started my journey here designing one of these races, and I am pretty much done. There are a few things missing yet, and I did not write their historical background until now, but I am sure to have this done by the end of this night. Though seemingly finished, as I told you I am NOT a player, therefore I do not have the knowledge needed to in fact make these races viable and playable, and that is what I would like to do. I desire to create these races in a way they are enjoyable for playing. So I would like to know if you would be interested in helping me out in this collaboration, as you will see, I got lost on the racial traits for instance. If yes, I am open to discuss anything about their history, society, and mainly traits to make them great for every player. If not, and thank you attention, and if you could indicate a user that might enjoy doing it, I would be glad to talk to him or her.

New Idea

Well, elementals, strictly defined in DnD terms, I believe are intelligent and pure forms that are living made from the essence of the elemental planes. In this category, I would say they can be mimicked in the form of something I like to call a spark, or energy. Basically, through the power of futurism, we can imagine energy as having its own mind. This energy can be manipulated in a variety of ways then. It can inhabit a conductive body like a metal golem, for example. Go a step further and it can basically attract or magnetize other elements to suit its form. But due to its volatility as a plasma, it will always need some suitable container.
