Recovering from his injuries relatively quickly, Gohan gave himself a personal mission to bring back the Earth's Dragon Balls using Namek's due to being somewhat responsible for Piccolo and Kami's death, going so far as to don a copy of Piccolo's gi to honor him. Landing on Namek alongside Krillin and Bulma, they immediately had runnins with Vegeta, who wasn't immediately concerned with killing humanity, Zarbon, Dodoria, and various other Frieza Force soldiers dedicated to the extermination of Namek, in one such conflict even rescuing a young namekian named Dende. Stealing one of Vegeta's Dragon Balls and returning to the Namekian Grand Elder's residence, the large namekian recognized the good inside Krillin and Gohan, unlocking their potential for the survival of Namek. When Vegeta arrived, enraged at what had transpired, he was moments away from slaughtering everything in sight before anger turned to terror; the Ginyu force was arriving. Barely surviving the elite onslaught, it was only the arrival of Gohan's father that saved them. Finally having the chance to summon Porunga, reviving Piccolo with their first wish, Frieza suddenly attacked. While able to seriously injure the tyrant with various ki barrages, only a Super Saiyan could hope to defeat him at full power. Returning to Earth with Porunga's final wish, Gohan mourned his father's death for months until they could wish for his return, only to learn he was not dead, and was only getting stronger on alien planets. Expecting a time of peace once his father arrived, instead he was warned by a mysterious youth that in three years, two androids would attack South City, ultimately killing the Z-Fighters if they did not prepare, forcing Gohan to become much stronger. |
