Watchlist Additions
Hey Mr. SgtLion, sir! I've become annoyed confirming when I add things to my watchlist. I used to have to do it sometimes before the update but so far, I think I have to do it every time. This does not pertain to adding things to my watchlist that I edit or create, that works normal. I went through preferences and didn't see anything that stuck out for what I am looking for. If anyone knows an option I can switch, or if there is something on the back end that can be done, this tedious process being nixed would be such a joy for me. Cheers! BigShotFancyMan (talk) 14:03, 30 July 2018 (MDT)
- There is no simple solution to this that I can find, sadly. I personally think that ideally, it'd be cool to have a little star to easily watch things like [en.wikipedia.org Wikipedia], but that's some function of the theme, I've no clue how easy implementing that would be. Perhaps I'm simply missing some simple option, I'll have a looksie if I can address this some other way. --SgtLion (talk) 15:14, 30 July 2018 (MDT)
- Well shucks. You’re efforts are much appreciated either way. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 16:55, 30 July 2018 (MDT)
- By chance, is the "Sledged" skin a highly modified version of the default "Vector" skin? If it is, would it be possible to add the star function simply by enabling $wgVectorUseIconWatch in LocalSettings.php?
- I have barely even dabbled with MediaWiki CSS, so I'm genuinely unsure if a function like that would be preserved in sledged.css even if it was modified from vector. - Guy 12:04, 26 August 2018 (MDT)

Sadist (3.5e class)
I use this website often. And I find an error in description or spelling I try to correct it.
As I was looking through your 3.5 Home Brew classes today. I came across a home brew classes called Sadist (3.5e class) see link below:
https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Sadist_(3.5e_class) although the class is titled as sadist (3.5) EVERY part of the description talks about a Masochist class. I tried to change the title. But either I do NOT have that permission. Or I have NOT figured out how to change the title. If I'm able to correct the title, please explain to me how to do it. If not please let me know that as well. If you have access to my email you can contact me there. Otherwise, I'll check back from time to time. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Grymmlocke (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- Hi Grymmlocke, your efforts to make helpful edits are appreciated. You do have permissions to the change the title, to do so you should click the 'move' tab at the top of the page, which will take you to a screen that will allow you to rename the page. --SgtLion (talk) 23:51, 31 July 2018 (MDT)
A confused "Weapon"?
Hi there, sorry to bother, I'm actually pretty new here, just made an account mostly for the sole reason to report what I believe must be an error.
So, I'll just hurry up and get to the point. Im working on making a homebrew and while I was going through the 5e Traditional Nonmagical Weapons page in the "Martial Melee Weapons" Section I came across a "weapon" labeled as Quietus (5e Class) and well, as you can see by the name and the content of the link, I really don't think thats a weapon.
I mean, there IS a weapon described in that link at the bottom which is the "War Scythe" but I'm not sure that warrants for the whole page to be added in the weapons list? Perhaps a new page should be made for the War Scythe since it doesn't seem to be held exclusive to that class since it literally has no description and no special property.
Sorry I'm not really sure if theres anything there that needs fixing, I just found that kinda confusing. Rakgnarok (talk) 03:19, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- Thanks for pointing the issue out Rakgnarok. In the case of the quietus class, you are correct, it is showing on that list because it has a weapon on it, when a separate weapon page like the War Scythe (5e Equipment) should have been created and linked to. In any case, the issue should now be resolved since the weapon is now only linked to instead of included in the class.--Blobby383b (talk) 03:39, 14 August 2018 (MDT)

Hey Sarg. Geo marked this campaign setting[1] as abandoned a little over a year ago. Could I enlist your bot to delete the whole thing? I ask here because I know you don't like pings over Discord. —ConcealedLight (talk) 05:56, 22 September 2018 (MDT)

Discord opinion
Hey buddy....ol' pal...friend,
not sure what I want to ask, or how to ask...but..well…
your comments about Discord users are quite condemning, and I know you don't mean to insult me or offend but I am one of those users.
any way to lighten up? please?
most earnest and well wishes BigShotFancyMan (talk) 20:14, 12 October 2018 (MDT)
- Apologies if you took offense. I don't mean to say that every person on the Discord is a troublemaker, just that the current balance of users in Discord is heavily weighted in favour of 'childish people who don't care to avoid stressful and pointless drama'. Yes, the couple people like you and Cotsu are wonderful, this is undoubtedly true - I am sorry for not clarifying that enough.
- Normally I'd live and let live with such communities, but what deeply upsets me is that it's spilling onto a site I've traditionally relied upon for solace, fulfilment, and calm enjoyment; And instead, thanks to that community, all I'm constantly finding is upset and drama and stress. And all I want is for that toxic influence to go away so I can start reliably having a positive experience here again. Is that really too much to ask?
- Sigh. As you say, I don't mean to denigrate you. I really am sorry. Perhaps I just have to accept I don't fit in any more? --SgtLion (talk) 01:28, 13 October 2018 (MDT)
- You're fine Sarg dw.
- I've also had a ? about it. Though it has mostly been about if I'm included in that group since you often seem quite upset with me. You don't have to respond but it would be nice for a clarity between comments. Cheers. —ConcealedLight (talk) 06:16, 13 October 2018 (MDT)
- kinda like CL said, I don't mean for you to worry. quite hesitant to say anything 'cause I didn't want you to worry. really just wanted to say "hey, I think people get it. You really dislike the community of wiki discord server" can we still be friends? :D <3 BigShotFancyMan (talk) 07:22, 13 October 2018 (MDT)
Night Mode
Did the new media wiki update allow some feature to turn the page into a dark mode or something where the screen isn't so bright at night time with all its brightness?
and for anyone wanting to comment turn the brightness down, it doesn't achieve the desired outcome. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 23:46, 13 October 2018 (MDT)
- Are you saying something already changed, or are you asking for a 'Night Mode'? I can look into it, but I'm not sure it's an easy addition. I personally have good experience with f.lux. --SgtLion (talk) 03:01, 14 October 2018 (MDT)
- I meant to respond, apologies. Requesting a "Night Mode". I did DL that flux thing, just need to adjust since last night everything was amber/orange when it auto setted haha BigShotFancyMan (talk) 13:55, 16 October 2018 (MDT)
- Hah. Aye, F.lux takes a bit of config, but I like it; You may not have any luck, but worth a try~ I did have a look around for nightmode extensions to no luck, but I'm wondering if we can just make a simple Sledgedskin variant that looks nicer in dark settings. --SgtLion (talk) 14:03, 16 October 2018 (MDT)

Invalid IRR Parameter
May I ask what is invalid about these[2][3] parameters? Ideally you should be bringing this up somewhere or provide further clarification in your summaries before using automation to blanket removing content like this? —ConcealedLight (talk) 11:33, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- I thought I'd confronted you about this issue in the past, and I apparently mistakenly thought the point was acceded. The use of American English is specifically not a requirement, just encouraged, and therefore not a valid IRR template. Same for references - encouraged, but a lack of them does not constitute to being 'not formatted correctly'. IRR templates are essentially for what is 'required', rather than what would be a minorly handy addition. This has always been the case, otherwise it'd be pandemonium and every article would be eligible for every IRR template ever.
- I'm happy to discuss this politely like we are now, but if this is going to turn into another dandwiki soul-destroying argument, then let me know first so I can just concede the matter and go cry. And for what goodwill it's worth, I'm sincerely impressed by the effort in writing the article-specific stuff you oft put in IRR templates, nice job on those. --SgtLion (talk) 13:32, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- Interesting enough, I was just talking the GA about this. People need to know what to fix in these templates, and I caught myself putting that vague commentary of wording issues without examples and thought how do they know what to fix? Well, if I list the issues, why didn't I just FIX IT lol but then I circle around thinking of all the time that would be spent curating others' verbiage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. I find it such quite a mess :( BigShotFancyMan (talk) 13:40, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- <,< Are you ok?
- The case is normally the opposite for me so thank you for the praise. Like most people, I'm trying to improve the overall quality of pages in any way I can. I've discovered that it's better to try educating users on "how we do things" rather than just one man going through every page on the wiki. While I
despiseam not a fan of using US English or writing Strength every time I want to say Strength I concede to those things. If these aren't valid IRR parameters how would I go about encouraging their use through a template to users who don't read the Help Portal? - I also remember others taking issue with the referencing one for it belonging in {{wikify}} rather then {{wording}}. Thoughts? —ConcealedLight (talk) 14:01, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- Nay, not really; But I honestly appreciate the constructive and friendly tone in the face of a jarring situation, so thank you. <3
- In terms of language, the exact discussion that bred the help article's wording concluded only that you shouldn't revert efforts to change your content to US English, there isn't really a need to bother users into doing it. I do see your point when it comes to the references, though; I can understand wanting to promote good practice in non-Help-reading contributors, as references are handy. I don't feel an IRR is appropriate, but I'm not sure what would be a better tool would be to encourage it, hm. --SgtLion (talk) 14:15, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- np. I have two ideas atm: An exception to allow referencing in templates for the more static pages on the wiki such as locked paged, quality articles, and featured articles but not for like every other page OR just sticking the template on the talk page? Idk about the last one but the first one I think is alright. —ConcealedLight (talk) 15:23, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- I'd like to point out that many wikis don't hyperlink every reference on a page. Look at Wikipedia articles, for instance, and you'll see the first reference of a page is hyperlinked but many of the ones below it are not. I'm not saying we can't do it all the way, but it's accepted practice to not do them all.--GamerAim (talk) 15:54, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
- I can't quite understand what your first idea means, as it's currently worded? If my vague guess is correct, then it sounds good, but it'd helpful if you could clarify it what you mean by 'An exception to allow referencing in templates'. --SgtLion (talk) 13:41, 16 October 2018 (MDT)
- It would be like... I have a FAN or I've like to have a page locked from editing for whatever reason. These types of pages. I could say in a maintenance template or on the talk that SRD references should be added to the page or when a reference would serve to better clarify a complex or confusing concept like on the Vampire (5e Race) page where I have to clarify every time I say vampire which vampire I mean: the vampire spawn race or monster or the vampire race or monster. I get the feeling this is doing the opposite of clarification though. —ConcealedLight (talk) 07:41, 18 October 2018 (MDT)

- No hard feelings, and thanks for stopping by to apologise - Only took me five minutes to fix and I do appreciate you were just trying to do useful things. As a possibly relevant note, some current admins do have a tendency to flout both wiki policy and spirit, so I'd simply advise you to more often refer to written policy than to trust recent precedents.

Those CapTcha Puzzles...!
I'll be honest, I hate those things. I'd like to bet they're the reasons I can't get any of my races of classes on here! I understand the need, but they have a hold on those with legit ideas. Plus, You have almost 1500 homebrew options, climbing every day. How do you know that none of those are breaking some rule somewhere even though they have the stupid puzzles?
- It’s not meant to stop bad human actors; it’s meant to stop the spambots. The captcha puzzle is the reason we don’t get 9 trillion spam accounts made every millisecond. If you want to be exempt from having to solve the puzzle, create an account.
