Doubles[edit]

Class Construction System. Are they different? If not can we delete one? --Sabre070 04:31, 5 December 2008 (MST)

Classed under Policy?[edit]

Should this article be classed under the 'Policy' headline of the Help Portal? It has little to do with policy, and everything to do with vague, recommended, but not necessary, steps in the editing and creation of a homebrew article. --SgtLion (talk) 22:06, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Huh, I agree. I'll try and do this, if no one else does.--GamerAim (talk) 22:59, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
That would be pretty neat, since then we could change the General section of pages like 5e Homebrew to be like the Main Page, with Community Projects and Help Page titles. --Green Dragon (talk) 10:03, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Guides or Guidelines[edit]

Maybe just a nuance but why are some guides and others guidelines? Is there a reason for the inconsistency? ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 11:02, 31 January 2019 (MST)

I imagine it was because the "Guides" where not to have an identifier. Since this is the reason, they should probably be seperated on this page. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:03, 27 February 2019 (MST)

What about D20M?[edit]

Pathfinder too I guess, but I’m not too worried about that. I see all the editions, but not d20m, is this a mistake, or is it on a separate page.   ━Kanon   Talk   19:42, 6 July 2020 (MDT)

Nobody has taken the time to develop those guides/guidelines. Red Leg Leo (talk) 08:39, 7 July 2020 (MDT)

Replacing Stub Templates[edit]

It's become standard to lead some guideline pages with a stub template. Would anyone be opposed to replacing these with a {{Design Note}} instead? Doing so would make it easier to prevent the DPL from listing guidelines that functionally incomplete, like the 5e Universal Meter Guide that has been a mostly unusable WIP for the greater part of a year. - Guy 16:07, 19 March 2022 (MDT)

Can't DPLs have notcategory=guideline and then they'd be filtered out from DPLs? curious Revival (talk) 12:51, 21 March 2022 (MDT)
I mean, sure? But the point is for the DPLs I'm talking about to include guidelines that finished enough to be useful, and exclude guidelines which are deliberately marked as unfinished.
I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. - Guy 12:58, 21 March 2022 (MDT)
If it's a DPL for guidelines, then excluding pages with the guidelines category is a bad idea. Don't know where that would apply, but still. -SwankyPants (talk) 13:11, 21 March 2022 (MDT)
Am I understanding the idea right? Replacing {{stub}} on guidelines that are currently being worked on with {{WIP}} and then adding {{Design Note}} to all the guidelines, so people know that that the ones that are inherently unfinished and should be edited (like Spell Design (5e Guideline))? This would show up on this page.
Then using the guidelines without the maintenance templates on the main list pages outside of this page? I think I am slightly confused somehow of what exactly we should change. --Green Dragon (talk) 13:16, 21 March 2022 (MDT)

I'm not sure why I'm failing to communicate this. On this page there are sections like this:

;5e Guidelines
{{#dpl:
|category=5e
|category=Guideline
|notcategory=Supplement
|order=ascending
}}

I am suggesting changing that to this:

;5e Guidelines
{{#dpl:
|notcategory=!
|category=5e
|category=Guideline
|notcategory=Supplement
|order=ascending
}}

I am suggesting to then replace {{stub}} with {{Design Note}} on the guidelines that are effectively finished.
Doing so would prevent effectively unfinished guidelines from appearing on this page. - Guy 13:33, 21 March 2022 (MDT)

Hey my bad. I knew what you meant, but I should have known being the guideline talk page the dpl was for guidelines. Really dumb idea I suggested, please disregard.
I read up on the purpose of the {{Design Note}} and I am curious how you/others feel about a simple message box on the pages instead of the stubs? Revival (talk) 12:11, 22 March 2022 (MDT)
A simpler message box would be fine with me. - Guy 14:49, 22 March 2022 (MDT)
I find a simpler message box better as well. --Green Dragon (talk) 14:43, 6 April 2022 (MDT)
