While Boruto temporarily retired as a shinobi, Kawaki began formulating ways of protecting him from Momoshiki's control. Presenting the plan of implanting his own Karma on Code, Kawaki was sidetracked from his path as a shinobi when Code attacked the village. Offering his life in exchange for the village's, Code mocked him, promising to kill anyone with a hand in Isshiki's death. When he was saved by Boruto, who became overwhelmed with exhaustion, the worst came to pass. Breaking through Momoshiki's control for only a moment, Boruto agreed with Kawaki's decision to simply kill him, putting an end to Momoshiki forever. However, despite what anyone considered possible, Boruto awakened fine, having been saved by Momoshiki at the cost of no longer being able to resurrect. |
