This creature was created as part of the Player Equivalent CR variant rule using the Stand User Class (JJBA Supplement) class and Sage background, and as such does not follow traditional CR.

Devo the Cursed[edit]

Spirit Points. Devo has 14 spirit points which he can expend. All spirit points are regained at the end of a long rest.

Hatred Spirit Points. Devo has 6 hatred spirit points which he can expend in the same manner as spirit points, but only while he is below half his maximum hit points. All spirit points are regained at the end of a long rest.

Evasion. When Devo is targeted by an area effect that lets him make an Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, he instead takes no damage if he succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if he fails the save.

Denting Blows. If Devo is grappling a creature or being grappled by a creature, his and Ebony Devil's attacks automatically hit the creature and deal an additional 5 damage. Devo may still make an attack roll to determine if he scores a critical hit. This feature extends to creatures who are too large to be grappled as long as he climbs on to them. Additionally, Devo may make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, or two unarmed strikes for 1 spirit point.

Long Travels. Devo has advantage on saving throws against gaining exhaustion from sources that are not creatures. When Devo completes a short rest, he regains twice as many hit points and loses 1 level of exhaustion. Furthermore, as a bonus action for 1 spirit point, Devo may take the dash action and disengage action.

I'll never forgive you! Each time Devo takes damage from a hostile creature that would not reduce him to 0 hit points while below half his maximum hit points, he regains 1 hatred spirit point. When he would be reduced to 0 hit points, he may spend 3 hatred spirit points to instead drop to 1 hit point.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. Devo or Ebony Devil makes two attacks with their unarmed strike.

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 bludgeoning damage.

Summon Stand. As a bonus action, Ebony Devil appears anywhere within 5 feet of Devo or is unsummoned.


Devo was a natural born Stand user and world-renown assassin, with his methods being a mystery even to Muhammad Abdul, who had knowledge of nearly every Stand user recruited by DIO, who recruited him to kill Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar, Muhammad Abdul, Noriaki Kakyoin, and Jean Pierre Polnareff, who were staying in a hotel in Singapore. Intentionally hiding in an obvious spot in Polnareff's hotel room, he was severely wounded when Polnareff easily found him. As he was thrown off the balcony, he bound his Stand to a doll and hid multiple floors below, allowing his Stand to menace Polnareff while being nearly invincible. However, with some quick thinking, Polnareff was able to escape, interrogating Ebony Devil on J. Geil's whereabouts. When the Stand failed to provide any worthwhile information, Polnareff tore him to pieces.

Manifestation of Will. Ebony Devil acts on Devo's turn and uses his actions, bonus actions, and reactions. Whenever Ebony Devil takes damage, Devo instead takes half as much damage. Any feature that effects Devo also effects Ebony Devil. Any effects that target Ebony Devil affect Devo instead, though any attack rolls or saving throws made as part of the effect are still made against Ebony Devil. If both Devo and Ebony Devil are targeted by an effect, only Ebony Devil is targeted. Ebony Devil can only move up to 60 ft. of Devo, and moves in parallel with Devo when he moves beyond the 40 ft. radius.

Invisible Force. Only Stand users and creatures with any form of spellcasting can see Ebony Devil, otherwise it is invisible. A creature that can not see Stands can attempt a DC 25 Wisdom saving throw after being damaged by a Stand. On a success, it can sense Ebony Devil, and it is no longer invisible to them. Ebony Devil can phase through creatures and objects, and Devo share Ebony Devil's senses.

Exploit Weakness. On a hit with Ebony Devil's unarmed strikes, Devo may spend 1 spirit point to decrease the target's AC to a maximum penalty of -5 until the end of the target's next long rest. If a creature is affected by this feature by multiple creatures, this maximum is equal to the highest proficiency bonus among the creatures affecting them.

ACTIONS

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d4 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

It grows more powerful the more hatred I have for my opponent! As a bonus action, Ebony Devil gains a +1 bonus to its attack and damage rolls, its AC, and any saving throws it makes for every spirit point Devo spends as part of this bonus action until the beginning of his next turn.

Bind Stand. Ebony Devil is bound to any humanoid-shaped object it is in the space of, such as a doll or statue, until the object is destroyed or Devo ends this effect as a bonus action. While bound to an object, Ebony Devil changes size to the object's category, any damage it takes is split evenly between Ebony Devil and the object, its range is increased to 80 ft., and the object moves with Ebony Devil. Additionally, when Ebony Devil uses this action, Devo may spend 3 spirit points to double the object's hit points until Ebony Devil is not possessing it.
