Daughter of the great Ox King, Chi-Chi largely relied on her ki-focusing armor as a child. It was during this time that she met Son Goku, an odd monkey boy with almost no regard or knowledge of social convention that she fell madly in love with, proposing to him on the spot, to which he gladly agreed. Despite being children, and Goku believing marriage to be a food, she was heartbroken when Goku left her kingdom, and further saddened when he did not return for seven years, despite having a grand public appearance as a finalist competitor in multiple World Martial Arts Tournaments. Training in the seven-year interim, she joined the 23rd Martial Arts Tournament, where the now grown man didn't even recognize her, angering her, and promising to only reveal her name is he could beat her. As the two fought in the semi-finals, he ringed her out with a single punch to the air. Keeping her promise, she revealed the truth, shocking him. Now cognizant of what he promised, he doubled down, proposing to her. In the years following, she would give birth to Gohan at 20, naming him after Goku's very own adoptive grandfather. Despite Goku becoming strong enough to shake worlds and battle gods, Chi-Chi would become the one person he truly feared, as well as the only person he truly loved. |
