Long ago, Son Gohan trained under the great Master Roshi alongside the future Ox King, becoming not only his number one pupil but arguably the strongest human in the world at the time, though his semi-immortal master would eventually surpass him. In his old age, he retired to Mount Paozu, foraging and hunting for sustenance. On one such journey, he discovered a young boy in a strange pod. With nobody in range of sight, sound, or ki sense, as well as an accidental blow to the head erasing any memories the boy had of his past on Planet Vegeta, he adopted the boy, dubbing him Son Goku. As he raised the boy as his own grandson, he taught him everything he could teach, mostly basic martial arts knowledge. However, one night, Goku accidentally looked at the full moon, which he had been forbidden from doing. Transforming into a Great Ape, the boy rampaged all night, killing Gohan in the process. Years later, on his adopted grandson's journey to revive Bora with the Dragon Balls, Grandpa Gohan's soul was temporarily brought back by Fortune Teller Baba to be his final match before revealing the location of the seventh ball, though he was disguised by a rabbit mask and Goku's poor memory and deduction. However, as the two battled, Goku recognized his wisdom and care, putting the fight on hold to hug his father figure. With this, Gohan surrendered due to satisfaction with the boy's progress not only in strength, but in finding reliable friends and a strong meaning, causing Goku to win and Gohan to gladly return to the afterlife forever. |
