Kaltamorn People and Society
The Kaltamorn Region is a crucible of numerous cultures, races, customs, and a blend of all manner of lores, legends, histories, songs, and more. The fact that most mortal races of the region have banded together has allowed for this growing community to thrive and prosper through the centuries. Here one may find detailed information on the Kaltamorn region's people, culture, and society.

Racial Population Percentages
Kaltamorn is host to a wide variety of humanoid races, most of which live in general harmony with one another. While exceptions do apply, most of the races below coexist relatively well not only with other races but generally with different versions of their own kind. In fact, each of the racial varieties have formed various factions to better represent their kind's interests. These factions are not known for being violent or in any way hostile. At worst they are similar to political parties, and at best they are akin to clans.
It should also be noted that hybrid races such as half-elves or half-orcs are not scarce due to any kind of racism or xenophobia. But from the simple fact that interracial conception has a low success rate. Interracial marriages are not unheard of, but nor are they very common. Also miscegenation is not discouraged culturally, at least not usually, but it isn't exactly encouraged either. The fact of the matter is that most families wish to produce an heir and their fertility will last only so long. Since orcs tend to be more fertile, and elves tend to live longer, they possess many more chances at interracial conception than others do. Hence the commonality of half-elves and half-orcs over other hybrid races.

(E) Usually violently hostile to other races by default.
(*) In the Kaltamorn Region the dark elves are not an evil race by default. Their appearance is a result of evolving to blend in with their surroundings with their dark skin (at the cost of having more sensitive eyes and bleached hair). They are not accursed or shunned. Instead they are reclusive and are rarely seen above ground. They usually are seen interacting with Deep Dwarves, Deep Gnomes, and Deep Halflings. They do not worship Lolth since she does not exist in this campaign setting. Instead they tend to worship Xarlen but they are not a particularly devout race, deferring to a republic over a theocracy.
Socioeconomic Status
The Kaltamorn Region is host to a wide variety of socioeconomic classes (SE Class) and while most citizens do not live in squalor, there is still a noticeable divide between the lower and upper classes, as usual.
Category: | SE Class: | Percentage: | Roll: |
---|---|---|---|
Lower-Class | Lower | 1% | 1 |
Middle | 23% | 2 - 24 | |

Interracial Relations
The Kaltamorn Federation is a multiracial society where most of its member races get along generally well with others. That said, the individual races have maintained some cultural differences over the years but just about all of them agree that they need to stand together or else risk being eliminated one by one should the Dark Conclave ever be re-formed. This section is intended to give a cursory view of how each race interacts with other races. Bear in mind that this table is only meant to help give a general characterization of how each race generally views the other races. It is not meant to dictate what a character might think personally, merely to help players and DMs get an idea as to how each race interacts with other races.
The following table gives a numerical value to help represent the opinion each race has on each of the other races. Meaning each row describes what the race in the row-header thinks of the races in the intersecting columns. The numbers mean the following:
- Hated
- Predjudiced
- Disdainful
- Disliked
- Tolerated
- Appreciated
- Liked
- Respected
- Idolized
- Adored

Racial Geniality & Popularity
Using the values given in Table: Interracial Relations the following table illustrates how well each race generally gets along with and is perceived by other races overall. Geniality is calculated by adding up all the scores in a race's own row whereas Popularity is the summation of all the scores in a race's column. Social Acceptance Score is the sum total of both Geniality and Popularity and it is intended to outline how accepting/accepted a member of a particular race tends to be in the Kaltamorn Region.
