Welcome to D&D Wiki![edit]

Welcome!

Hello GamerAim and welcome to D&D Wiki. I hope you have been enjoying D&D Wiki and I hope you have been finding the information here useful. Before you start contributing it is recommended that you make sure your user preferences match your preferences.

Questions

If you have any questions about a specific page please ask it on that page's talk page. If you have a D&D-related question please ask it on DnD Discussions. Everything relating to D&D Wiki's administration can be found here. If your question does not fit into one of the above possibilities or you need to contact another user please use their talk page.

Formatting

Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Help pages also provide help in areas that have been decided as requiring additional explanation.

Community

A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I am sure you will find it rather nice. To enable the community to function policies are in effect. Most importantly follow Wikipedia's guidelines on civility and etiquette when discussing anything and do not delete content. Also, to ensure people know who posted what, please sign your name after a post with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon (Signature icon.png). This will automatically produce your name and the date. I hope you come to enjoy D&D Wiki and the community and welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. --Green Dragon (talk) 04:52, 23 September 2014 (MDT)

☯☭☩☪⚚⚖⚕✞ (5e Deity)[edit]

Now you're just hurting my feelings. --Calibri (talk) 19:36, 26 June 2017 (MDT)

I'm sorry if you feel that way, but I am simply doing my job. I have nothing against the theme of the page, nor did I even mention my personal dislike of ASCII non-standard article names. If you would like to improve upon the page and make it more readily accessible for players of D&D 5e, I will personally review it myself again to see if it meets our guidelines for non-deletion :) If you require help in doing so, please don't hesitate to ask for assistance.--GamerAim (talk) 20:04, 26 June 2017 (MDT)

Witcher Templet[edit]

It's cool its just in the past peopl would change my stuff before I was even finish that's why I made a completely new account but I'll be sure to let you know when I'm finished —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silnudovah (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Citations[edit]

I am not sure if you are already aware of this editing tool, but since you deal with the OGC transcription projects, it may interest you to know that I have added a citations section the editing help page, which explains how to make use of the wiki's built-in referencing system. --Kydo (talk) 10:03, 11 December 2016 (MST)

Thanks. I just have one question: in what cases do you think I'd use them? I'm sure citations are useful, I just can't think off the top of my head how I'd use them on any of the OGC pages so far.--GamerAim (talk) 05:40, 12 December 2016 (MST)
I'm not 100% certain myself. We basically don't use them at all anywhere on the wiki, though I've begun putting rules citations in the design guides so they are less cluttered and easier to read. I figure they'd probably be useful to any aspect of the wiki which does have an encyclopedic nature, like the publications section and the OGC transcriptions, but since we don't have any traditions set up for citations yet, we can pretty much make up our own uses for citations as we see fit! It just seems like a useful tool we should have in our mental toolbox for the rare occasion where citations come in handy. --Kydo (talk) 09:47, 12 December 2016 (MST)

D&D Wiki Plays D&D[edit]

You're Invited! --Kydo (talk) 21:15, 22 January 2017 (MST)

Adminship[edit]

I have found that you have shown a knowledge and dedication to activities here on D&D Wiki. I would like to nominate you to adminship. Would you accept this? --Green Dragon (talk) 13:58, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Sure. Whether or not anything comes of it, it's still an honor to be asked.--GamerAim (talk) 13:00, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
You have been nominated! The honor is mine. --Green Dragon (talk) 20:10, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Welcome to Adminship. You are now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. You have more burden on yourself now that you are an admin because users will be looking at you for editing help, knowledge about pages, etc. Make sure to familiarize yourself with Meta Pages to help address this burden. I recommend you take a look at Special:ListGroupRights if you have not already. Some of the new feature's uses follow: You can now delete pages, protect pages, rollback edits, block users and IP's, edit every page, patrol edits, and do a couple more minor things.
  • Deleting pages is normally done through Category:Candidates for Deletion. Anything with a good reason to be deleted on that page should be deleted. Other times pages should be deleted is in the case of vandalism, spam, or even when someone makes a page and after a few edits they either blank the page or replace it with something like "Please delete this". If this page consisted of close to just the preload it is fine to just delete it.
  • Protecting pages has quite a few different times when it should be used. Pages should be protected according to the author's wishes (with Template:Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of conflict (with Template:Temp Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of OGC published materials (with Template:OGL Top added to the top of the page in question and Template:OGL Bottom added to the bottom), or finally if the page is a vital part of D&D Wiki's organization. Also, if it deals with D&D Wiki's organization the page needs to be protected. For Example 3.5e Homebrew is protected from all non-sysop edits. No template needs to be added to pages if they are part of D&D Wiki's organization (even though some do exist like Template:Admin Locked Page)
  • Blocking a user or IP should be used with respect to policy. To block someone just click "block" (found on Recent Changes, the diff in question, the userpage, etc) and fill out the corresponding form. For a typical vandalism attack I normally block the user for two weeks. Certain things demand a longer block and others a shorter. No standards have been set for block lengths so use your best judgment.
  • Editing every page on D&D Wiki mostly means you can now edit the SRD and the MSRD. Feel free to edit them if inaccuracies are found. If interested further please look at the SRD ToDO List or the MSRD tasks; I am sure your help will be appreciated.
Now that you are an admin I would say more burden is placed on you, but I really hope you enjoy being an admin and I hope you decide to stay around on D&D Wiki for a while more to come. Welcome to Adminship. Again, you're now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. --Green Dragon (talk) 15:21, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
(If my reply seems less enthusiastic, it's because it got gobbled up by my browser) Thanks, GD! I already protected some OGC pages and it was nice seeing I could edit a protected page for the first time :D It's funny to think that last year, you suggested giving me temporary adminship to protect OGC pages. It feels less like burden and more like a gift, because it means I can fix more pages (even if I now feel compelled to work on the to-do lists) and help more people. And hey, being "The Face" gives me an excuse to play a bard ;) I hope I don't disappoint! :)
All aboard!
All aboard the S.S. Adminship!
--GamerAim (talk) 15:46, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Haha, great that you feel inspired to play a bard. Take the nomination at your own pace of course. Don't forget that you can also now work with your previous requests for an admin edit. --Green Dragon (talk) 16:18, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
'grats, GamerAim. Sorry I missed yer nomination, I didn't even know it was happenin'! But know that I woulda voted support, based on your history. You seem like a barrel of fun, so I feel sad that our paths haven't really met in any meaningful manner thus far. Lookin' forward to your exciting contributions and hopefully more fun drawings. <3 --SgtLion (talk) 11:42, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, thank you. I am now mentally scoring my nomination vote 3:0 in favor <3 It is indeed sad that Fate conspires to keep us apart, but she is such a fickle force, so such is the course of our lives ;_; Might Fate since conspire to allow our paths to cross once more, my friend. (You think I'm being dramatic, but you left chat like 30 seconds after I joined :P )--GamerAim (talk) 14:25, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Sorry I missed the boat to send you a vote of confidence! Congrats and welcome to the party. --Kydo (talk) 05:55, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Kydo! <3 Thank you, especially since this only happened because you replied to me on the Fallout talk page and convinced me to stay, which snowballed into...well, this :) I hope I can catch you in the Tavern some time and we can talk about design things!--GamerAim (talk) 12:49, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Help Pages[edit]

As I said in the Tavern, I noticed that some pages in the Help Portal were in the main namespace when it would be more appropriate for them to be in the Help or D&D Wiki namespaces. You said to make a list, so the pages in question are:

I'd fix them myself, but I'm worried about screwing stuff up. --Geodude671 (talk | contribs)‎ . . 01:34, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

I'll talk to SgtLion and see if his bot can help with some of this, but some notes: DnD Links, DnD Discussion and DnD Guidelines are sort of homebrew, so we might keep them there. RfA should definitely be moved. I'll look into this. Thanks.--GamerAim (talk) 13:50, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
I would be fine moving DnD Links and DnD Guidelines (though not its subpages, as they are instructions relating to DnD content) to Help:, as they are help pages simply for using D&D Wiki. This would be a simple manual undertaking of two pages.
I can happily move Requests for Adminship (or any other big sections that crop up) and its subpages to Help: to D&D_Wiki: with SgtLionBot, as it's entirely meta. But with such an important section, I would want to quickly seek GD's input on that, first.
Obviously, if consensus instead says I'm a dummy and I should move all pages to the SgtLion'sADummy namespace, then I'd submit to that, too. --SgtLion (talk) 21:45, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
I also found Old News which is in the main namespace and probably belongs in the D&D Wiki namespace. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs)‎ . . 09:41, 21 June 2017 (MDT)

hello i require assistance[edit]

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/User_talk:Green_Dragon#hello_i_require_assistance

Can I get your input on this, since I already discussed the page in question with you in Tavern? — Geodude671 (talk | contribs)‎ . . 22:06, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

D&D Wiki Social Media[edit]

OK, so the D&D Wiki facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/Dandwiki/

Just log in to the FB account you want to use with D&D Wiki and message that page proving your identity, and we'll (eventually) give you access.

I was going to use the D&D Wiki email to give you the YT username and password as well, but I guess I'll just do that over FB messenger while we're at it.

Don't worry if nobody's online when you send the message, it'll stay on there forever and notify anyone already in the FB team. This whole thing kind of winds up playing like telephone tag a lot of the time. --Kydo (talk) 00:44, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Oh, uh, "identifying yourself" at this time is as demanding as demonstrating a knowledge of this conversation and stating your D&D Wiki username. It's not huge yet, so we aren't super formal yet. --Kydo (talk) 00:49, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Assistance please[edit]

HI! I was wondering where I could get versed on official 3,5 dnd—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 107.77.215.108 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Well, the best way would be the official 3.5e Players Handbook, but the SRD can also help. Start with the basics and ability scores, then decide on what race and class you'd prefer to play. Everything is hyperlinked, so you can click on terms you don't know and just follow them down until you understand how everything that race and class does works. Then follow the same link-rabbit-hole-digging on how combat works.
Then find yourself a good group of players and learn from the mistakes you'll inevitably make. If it's your first RPG, what you learn will apply to others, but if it's not your first, it'll be easier to learn :)--GamerAim (talk) 13:42, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Site Suggestion[edit]

Sligo - 20 June 2017

GA and I were discussing modification and clarification of Article Abandonment, as it is very frustrating for a user doing research to open pages that are horribly incomplete and have been that way for a seemingly long time.

First is to add to the guidelines for adding new content, as well as modifying existing content, that an article that appears to be less than 50% (or so) complete, and has remained untouched for at least 2 months, will get marked with the Abandoned Article template.

The current window for Abandoned articles getting deleted is 1 year. I suggest making it 6 months.

And if it is at all possible, add a notation on the main index page (some form of symbol), indicating the article has this template attached.

Thanks!

Supernaturalist has been completed[edit]

MakerCaker here, and I've completed your request. It only took me a day!

Problem User[edit]

Several users along with myself have had problems dealing with edits by the user IgneeltheDragonbornMonk and both mine and Geodude671 attempts to talk with them about it has been unfruitful. If you check his contributions and their talk page you can see for yourself. I will be in the tavern and/or here for more explanation if needed.

PHB-Exclusive Spells[edit]

So, in light of the recent discussion on Blue Dragon's talk page, I made this page.

Is changing the name and description, but keeping the same mechanical effects, enough for an "equivalent spell" to be kosher? Or is there something else I'm missing? - Guy (talk) 13:04, 31 July 2017 (MDT)

In the USA, you can't copyright game rules, but can copyright the artistic presentation, including written passages. The SRDs allows us to use a large amount of that artistic presentation, meaning we can communicate the rules of spells in a similar way to WotC without getting sued. Instead of changing the names of terms, we can say things like, "this spell does 4d8 lightning damage" without WotC having a legal basis to sue us for copying their game. All we're legally doing is remixing terms and presentation they let us use, and adding our own words to produce new spells that happen to deal 4d8 lightning damage in specific circumstances. In the case of shock arrow, I actually took a Pathfinder spell, changed the effect, and ported it to 5e. Nothing illegal about that :)
So, you are correct. Rewrite them in your own words (or words you have the right to reproduce), and if they happen to have the same in-game effect as spells WizBro wrote, then so be it. Nothing illegal about that. Just remixing of existing OGL material (and you really should add the OGL templates to be safe). Nope, nothing wrong here.
Also, the spells were (officially) part of my System Reference Expansion (5e Sourcebook), which I wouldn't have any issue actually creating the page of and having other people make some stuff for it. It also has a couple subraces and a new cleric domain (the sun domain), with more to come. And thanks for making a list of spells that I, ahem, need to read.--GamerAim (talk) 13:26, 31 July 2017 (MDT)
Thanks for the clarification, and for the hasty response. If I make any more "equivalent" spells, I'll add the OGL templates to them, and list them on that page accordingly. Feel free to edit or copy that page if it helps you keep track of which ones are left to make, too. - Guy (talk) 13:36, 31 July 2017 (MDT)

Pictures[edit]

I have editted many of the images i was using for my pantheon on my 5e setting, some so much as hours doing simple little things. Images uploaded freely to google images should not be held to the same stature as professional pieces of artwork, especially when they are black and white in many cases, and anyone could have made them. It isn't even worth the effort it seems to include pictures for the pantheon. I am new to this and apologize for and issues. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Its just teddy (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Images aren't uploaded to Google Images; the search engine links to images from elsewhere on the internet. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs)‎ . . 22:09, 5 August 2017 (MDT)

Caves of Chaos: My Input[edit]

I'm probably going to be asleep by the time you get this, so I might as well go over a bit of my post on your PbP and the reasoning.

  • Jack did say he emerged from the forest, so I hope I didn't do anything off about it.
  • I left the squirrels' objects a bit ambiguous because I figured it could play into one of 2 options:
-1. Simple option, easy to clean up. The woodland creatures simply caught scent of food and came to investigate, thus they're probably holding nuts and berries.
-2. Humorous option, something to add a bit of fun if you want to take it- The woodland creatures are in fact, the Flying Squirrel-Monks of the forest, and are investigating why their Sacred Berries have went missing (or another reason if you want to change details up), thus they're probably carrying squirrel-sized Monk weapons.

I didn't want to do something too crazy, and could be wrapped up a tad quickly. In the end, I (tried) to do what you said. Nightmares are dreams too... (talk) 05:16, 7 August 2017 (MDT)

It's wonderful and I love you for it. I'm sorry I went to sleep and couldn't shower you in praise. You have done well, and I'm proud of you. Thank you.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 06:06, 7 August 2017 (MDT)

OGC Page Templates[edit]

Hey GamerAim! I've slapped together a few OGC page templates. I can send them to you if you'd like to double check them. Clockwerk66 (talk) 09:38, 11 August 2017 (MDT)

Sure thing :) I did some more work today when you made me realize the DPLs were only taking 3.5e stuff, so now they account for a variety of systems.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 09:45, 11 August 2017 (MDT)
Alright then. Do you have somewhere where I can send them to? Clockwerk66 (talk) 09:50, 11 August 2017 (MDT)
Oh, I assumed they were wiki pages. What kind of file is it? If it's a pdf, I think you can upload to the wiki. Otherwise, maybe a cloud storage solution?--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 10:14, 11 August 2017 (MDT)

Here's the page templates I have so far:

Lemme know what you think Clockwerk66 (talk) 13:03, 11 August 2017 (MDT)

Huh. All of the OGC template fields need left clear, but aside from that...I think these preloads will work fine. I might turn some of them into templates like I did with the 3.5e OGC Feat template (a single template that creates an entire page), but the class page should work for sure. Give me a bit of time to implement these into templates, preloads, etc. and I'll get back to you when it's done. Thanks <3 --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 14:31, 11 August 2017 (MDT)
Awesome! Glad I could help out with this. I look forward to hearing back from you. :) Clockwerk66 (talk) 14:39, 11 August 2017 (MDT)
I have made thus far, Template:5e OGC Archetype, Template:5e OGC Background, OGC 5e Base Class Preload, Template:5e OGC Class Feature, Template:5e OGC Creature, Template:5e OGC Feat, OGC 5e Race Preload and Template:5e OGC Spell. I've been at it for 6 hours and I'm going to take a break. The template page still needs done, and I realized some of the templates automatically add the User category, so I need to fix that as well. Plus I need to look over equipment stuff. Overall, your help was invaluable.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2017 (MDT)
Thank you! Let me know if there's anything else i can do to help out. :) Clockwerk66 (talk) 13:02, 15 August 2017 (MDT)
Okay, I think we're good to go! OGC 5e Template Preload and OGC 5e Equipment Preload. If you need anything else, like templates, preload, formatting guidelines or assistance in integrating with the OGC namespace, let me know :) --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 17:56, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
Alright, awesome! So if I want to start adding to that section, Would I need to copy the relevant code from whichever page template is appropriate, and create pages manually? Clockwerk66 (talk) 18:12, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
If it's a preload, you copy the page until I get around to making a new page button for it. If it's a template, you use it like any other template. Find a page that already uses it for an example, until I can make a proper preload for it.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 18:18, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
Edit: I'm going to try finishing the infrastructure on Friday, including preload buttons.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 18:21, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
Wait, is there a different process to copying preload pages, as opposed to making a new page using a template? Clockwerk66 (talk) 18:38, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
A template, simply speaking, is a page that you transclude by calling it {{Test Template|sampleparameter=likethis}}. The wiki would then search for Template:Test Template (obviously not a real template) and transclude it. Most templates take parameters (e.g. sampleparameter) that are passed through to the template to change what's displayed on the page.
A preload is just a prefab page that we use on pages like this (see top of page) to let users click a button and have a ready-to-use example page so they know how a page should look. It should ideally have the minimum required categories, templates, breadcrumbs, headers, etc. for a page of its type.
I've created templates that create entire pages, known as one-template pages because the page usually contains a single template and nothing else, so that breadcrumbs, navboxes, categories don't have be added manually by the page creator, which streamlines the page-creation process. Some types of pages, like races and classes, don't work too well as one-template pages (though use multiple templates), but a preload still suffices for having all the basic page elements in place - it's a bit longer, but and slightly less user-friendly, but it still gets the job done.
At the end of the day, once I make the prefab buttons, it won't matter from your perspective. You'll just click a button and be taken to a page creation screen like if you were making homebrew. Until then, if you copy the code of anything in the Template namespace, it won't look pretty to you, if isn't downright unusable if you don't know how the template works. If you can't wait, tell me what template you need and I'll throw together a preload that shows how to use the template.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 19:57, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
Yeah, I'll just wait for prefab buttons then Clockwerk66 (talk) 22:10, 16 August 2017 (MDT)

I think it's done now? Take a look through OGC:Main and tell me if I missed anything, please. Templates and preloads and all. It isn't feasible to build up the whole infrastructure right now, as we can't know what'll be needed yet. But if you come across something you're transcribing and there isn't a page or DPL for it, please let me know if you need help, unless you can do it yourself :) --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 17:38, 18 August 2017 (MDT)

Asides from 5e weapons options being missing still, It looks like all of the stuff that would be there for 5th edition is now accounted for. Thanks for your assistance in this matter! I'll start testing this stuff out at a later date. :) Clockwerk66 (talk) 18:38, 18 August 2017 (MDT)
Hmm...I just tried posting an OGC 5e creature (CR 16 elemental type), but it doesn't seem to appear in OGC:Creatures for some reason Clockwerk66 (talk) 19:44, 18 August 2017 (MDT)
Could it have something to do with what you enter for "|creat=<-optional. if not NPC-!>"? Clockwerk66 (talk) 22:43, 18 August 2017 (MDT)
As it turns out, the three main things missing are: spell lists, equipment types, creature types. Because there's so many of those and I don't know what they should also look like yet, I haven't made them. As it so happens, the CR 16 and Elemental type pages aren't done yet, but I'll get right on that :) That's the important thing, though: if something is missing, just add it as you get around to it. I'll make the weapons, CR 16 and Elemental pages though. I meant to do weapons anyways but forgot :/ --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 05:53, 19 August 2017 (MDT)
Edit: For reference, what was the creature?--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 06:46, 19 August 2017 (MDT)
OGC:Magma Elemental (5e Creature) Clockwerk66 (talk) 06:59, 19 August 2017 (MDT)
Okay, so I'm already starting to see a couple issues crop up, which is good! It means we're learning. The issue isn't with you, it's with the weird way the templates and DPLs are set up that I forgot to account for. First of all, alignment wasn't automatically categorized, but it should be now. Except, if you look at the bottom of the new creature preload, you'll see some new categories that need filled in, because again, I forgot to account for the weird way alignments are categorized. So just copy those categories from the preload and fill them in like the comments say (you actually only need to do it for the neutral neutral category on this creature).
I also forgot to put in the breadcrumbs to the CR and creature types, but the template should be able to take care of that too. Creature types need the first letter to be capitalized. SgtLion is working on automating the creation of CR pages using a simple template I made, and I'm working on finding an easy way to make the type, alignment and size pages. Then everything except for subtypes (which is a 3.5e thing you don't need to worry about) and templates will be done. As soon as we have a finished template for me to look at, I can make the templates page :)
As an aside, the publication that's from needs to have a page made up for it. You can see an example of one here. Note the use of the publication template, the categories, the navbox, and that it lists all the content from that book. If you're planning to hold off until you've transcribed more of that publication, that's fine :)
I'd like to reiterate that you're quite good at this and have caught on to my weird way of doing things quick! So don't feel like it's your fault because I forgot to do such and such.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 08:04, 19 August 2017 (MDT)
Thanks Aim! And yeah, that template will definitely make it easier to do the other CR pages. I'll make sure to build the page for that publication as well ASAP. ^_^ Clockwerk66 (talk) 08:18, 19 August 2017 (MDT)

Adminship Voting[edit]

Hey GamerAim, I was curious if you could help me understand the percentage at the top. I am unsure currently whether to feel slighted or there is an oversight. I see 33% which I assume to me the percent in which supported the person. But there were seven votes. As the new guy, its hard not to think my opinion wasn't valued as part of the community on here. Enlightenment? BigShotFancyMan (talk) 07:06, 14 August 2017 (MDT)

Neutral votes aren't counted in the percentage, sorry. Only support and oppose votes are. I guess neutral is just there so people who don't care one way or the other can still...have a say? Did you mean to vote support?--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 07:30, 14 August 2017 (MDT)
Neutral votes are listed for their usefulness for consensus. It's not a percentale vote, since that's easy to influence, but rather a consensus vote. --Green Dragon (talk) 09:25, 14 August 2017 (MDT)
I see. Perhaps the rules should be more clear on voting, or at least linked to from each RfA page, as the appearance of a percentage on the RfA page is misleading.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 09:28, 14 August 2017 (MDT)
Well I feel better at least to understand this now. Thank you both :) BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:07, 14 August 2017 (MDT)

This is unrelated but I don't think it's worth creating a whole new section for. Blobby mentioned in the tavern a newer user insulting me, and you said you vaguely recalled that. The new user in question was User:AGuy and the incident occurred on the 14th. He said that I should "[not] use this wiki" because I hadn't played D&D recently, and called me "a 10 year old hiding behind a computer." I told him to knock it off, and I haven't had any conflicts with him since. I initially didn't report it because he stopped after I asked him to and warned him about civility, but you asked for a reference, so here you go. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs)‎ . . 22:15, 22 August 2017 (MDT)
I agree, the problem was intially resolved respectfully by both parties. I just mentioned it because I remembered what happened and did not know how you and the other user followed up on the conversation. I am also sorry if there were any misunderstanding based of what I said, and at least hold Geodude671 in high regard due to his willingness to help me and other users and keeping a cool head.--Blobby383b (talk) 22:43, 22 August 2017 (MDT)
Can I get you to also protect or at least semi-protect Minotaur (5e Race)? An IP has been repeatedly editing the page in ways which were not constructive. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 00:26, 15 October 2017 (MDT)

EDIT: Nymph (5e Race) probably also needs protecting. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 00:38, 15 October 2017 (MDT)

System Reference Expansion[edit]

I have created the spells firesweep blade and thundersweep blade, which, ahem, resemble the spells Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade from SCAG. I don't know if you want to add them to the SRE, so I didn't, but I'm telling you in case you want to add them. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 12:14, 2 September 2017 (MDT)

I also created the spell horrid wilting if you want to add that. Given recent events I wanted to run it past you before I added it. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 10:32, 20 September 2017 (MDT)

Hi, I mentioned on chat that a sourcebook for conversions of older-edition material would be an idea, so I've made a start at Legacy Conversion Project (5e Sourcebook). Marasmusine (talk) 02:50, 23 September 2017 (MDT)

I'm not sure how that's less illegal than the SRE was, but thanks for the link.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 05:58, 23 September 2017 (MDT)
Well it's the opposite. The SRE took existing 5e material and changed the name. Conversions are new 5e mechanics (and share a non-trademarked I hasten to add) inspired by older editions. Your contributions welcome if you have any. Marasmusine (talk) 09:15, 23 September 2017 (MDT)

Minimal 5e[edit]

I can't remember where you mentioned this—I think the chatroom? I believe your idea involved creating an OGC sourcebook that stripped down 5e to its minimal components. Examples you gave included removing all classes but the core four, and omitting opportunity attacks. Would you still be interested in something like this? The idea has been running in and out of my mind over the past few days... I would like to help out with it, if my aid is something worth having. - Guy (talk) 14:56, 3 September 2017 (MDT)

Hello, yes. Some of those notes were written in a 5e sourcebook in the homebrew section.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 15:06, 3 September 2017 (MDT)

                                                                             GamerAim

A 5e peovoke/Taunt/Goad[edit]

Do you know of a homebrew feat on this site that achieves this goal? Essentially being able to cause one or more enemies to attack you instead of your allies? BigShotFancyMan (talk) 12:32, 1 October 2017 (MDT)

I think the paladin spell Compelled Duel achieves this effect? — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 14:36, 1 October 2017 (MDT)
I didn't to not reply. Thanks for the suggestion. I am hoping for a feat specifically so maybe I'll create it and let a talk page decide the balancing of such feat. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:20, 15 October 2017 (MDT)
Perhaps you can take inspiration from 4e's "Marking" system? I believe the fighter and paladin are the classes that have it in core 4e. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 13:25, 15 October 2017 (MDT)

Barnstar[edit]

Let it not be said that I am ashamed to highlight the great work of my dandwiki-official marriage partner. Nobody could deny you've worked hard, contributed a lot, and you undoubtedly deserve the recognition for it. Your efforts alone have allowed The Tavern to exceed my greatest dreams. Thank you <3 --SgtLion (talk) 02:48, 19 October 2017 (MDT)

I award you this Barnstar for tireless dedication to upholding standards, great contributions, major efforts in transcribing OGC and more. Being clever, just, constructive, helpful and dependable are just some of the great qualities you have, and people definitely seem to appreciate that of you, both on the chat and throughout the wiki. You are a good moderator, good dandwiki-er, and a good friend. Thank you~ --SgtLion (talk) 02:48, 19 October 2017 (MDT)

Problem Child[edit]

I'm sorry for the spam. Off the record, Redrum uses the same computers as I do so please block the IP because of my idiocy. --209.97.85.48 13:59, 4 November 2017 (MDT)

I do not plan to block anyone, as you seem to have acknowledged your mistake and I assume it will not happen again :) --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 14:04, 4 November 2017 (MDT)

I think I forget to putt in the word don't in my 1st message. --209.97.85.48 14:07, 4 November 2017 (MDT)

Lycanthrope[edit]

Do you have any opinions on weresharks and werecrocodiles(Salt Water)? --Redrum 17:26, 8 November 2017 (MST)

My opinion on all lycanthropes is positive, as I love lycanthropes. The more the merrier, I say.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 20:12, 8 November 2017 (MST)
Actually, I've made weresharks and werecrocodiles. You can see a list of lycanthropes at Lycanthropes (5e Creature). SirSprinkles (talk) 21:41, 8 November 2017 (MST)

5e wild magic[edit]

Is there (or could there be) a list of wild magic spells on this site? It would make it easier to track down the spells. --209.97.85.48 17:29, 15 November 2017 (MST)

I'm not familiar with wild magic spells, sorry. I thought wild magic was just something you rolled on a table?--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 17:31, 15 November 2017 (MST)
For 209.97.85.48 and myself, who do we go to for that info. --Redrum 17:38, 15 November 2017 (MST)

Onyx Medallion[edit]

I know that an item that uses Animal Friendship at will is usually uncommon, but If I add Speak with Animals 1 or 2/day would the rarity increase? --Redrum 13:31, 18 November 2017 (MST)
