Some of the wondrous items link to this page twice. 210.10.140.55 01:29, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

I dont know how to change this to "Crown of Broken Daggers". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gizzard (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.

Creating a "Wonderous Items Based on Existing Fiction" DPL Section?[edit]

I feel like the amount of content on this page has gotten large enough that it may be convenient to separate out some of the items similar to how the 5e classes full list is separated out. Just casually browsing the content on this page, you can find items based off of Terraria, The Binding of Isaac, Zelda, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc. It would be nice to differentiate these derivative works out from items that fall in line more with the lore and feel of D&D, at least to reduce crowding. --ZarHakkar (talk) 23:32, 8 January 2022 (MST)

Well, I don't really know how much that would affect it. I'll throw together a DPL to get some numbers on this tomorrow, but from my own experience, the derivative stuff for wondrous items wasn't super major. Also, we'd need to do it for the rest of the magical item pages for standardization, but that's not too much busy work should we go through with that. --SwankyPants (talk) 23:49, 8 January 2022 (MST)
I feel like there are enough derivative works for such a change to be meaningful, at least on this page where there are 1000+ items.
Perhaps while you're at it, the pages for official items (Alchemy Jug, Bead of Nourishment, etc.) that appear on this list should be filtered out of the DPL as well. Should be as simple as specifying the User category. This is similar to how D&D wiki handles the 5e homebrew pages for spells. --ZarHakkar (talk) 16:35, 9 January 2022 (MST)
Okay, seeing this, it seems that making it separate will cut it down 1/6th. Not bad, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Probably different for other categories. I'm for the change, but I would like to see the opinions of another admin or two on this. --SwankyPants (talk) 16:48, 9 January 2022 (MST)
It is probably about time a Based on Existing Fiction section is added to equipment list pages. I don't believe every equipment list pages needs the section, but if the section is added to this page we can go about adding it to many of the equipment list pages (as of right now, I am thinking of adding it to probably all magical list pages except mounts and vehicles, while also adding it to artifacts, cursed items, and sentient items). --Blobby383b (talk) 18:43, 11 January 2022 (MST)
Derivatives in general deserve recognition for being derivatives a lot of the time, I feel. --Yanied (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2022 (MST)

Bags of Tricks[edit]

It strikes me that we have a lot of pages that are essentially variants of the 5e SRD:Bag of Tricks. I propose that we merge them into a single page, akin to Variant Figurines of Wondrous Power (5e Equipment). SirSprinkles (talk) 17:22, 25 July 2023 (MDT)

Wouldn't pages such as Bag of Wizards (5e Equipment) (if it indeed counts as a variant) lose their quality article status if they were merged? Or are we just going by pure namesake of Bag of Tricks (variant type), with the presumption that none of those specific variants would ever have enough distinction to be quality articles on their own? --ZarHakkar (talk) 17:59, 25 July 2023 (MDT)
I was thinking of just the pages named Bag of Tricks (blank). So Bag of Tricks (Flesh) (5e Equipment), Bag of Tricks (Leather) (5e Equipment), Bag of Tricks (Light) (5e Equipment), Bag of Tricks (Natural) (5e Equipment), Bag of Tricks (Scales) (5e Equipment) and Bag of Tricks Var. Green (5e Equipment). The Bag of Tricks, Patchwork (5e Equipment) is a beast of its own and should stay separate. SirSprinkles (talk) 18:53, 25 July 2023 (MDT)
Ah, that makes sense. I'm for it then. --ZarHakkar (talk) 20:38, 25 July 2023 (MDT)
Variant Bags of Tricks (5e Equipment) is done. It seems as though many of the creatures from these tables are from more recent books. I'm going to tag the bags for deletion now that they've been rendered obsolete. SirSprinkles (talk) 15:19, 26 July 2023 (MDT)
