Hollow Reiryoku. The hollow has 3 Rieryoku which it can expend. All Reiryoku is regained at the end of a long rest.

Soul. The hollow can only be seen, heard, smelled, touched, sensed, or interacted with by creatures with this feature or objects made of Reishi, though it can interact with creatures made of Kishi normally.

Reiatsu. The hollow spend 1 Reiryoku at the beginning of its turn to release its Reiatsu until the beginning of its next turn, learning the direction from it of each creature within 30 feet and each of their proficiency bonuses. If a detected creature's proficiency bonus is 1 or lower, they take 3 bludgeoning damage.

ACTIONS

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 bludgeoning damage.

BONUS ACTIONS

Regeneration (1 Reiryoku). The hollow or one of its body parts regains 11 hit points. This can restore hit points to a body part's higher tiers.

REACTIONS

Hollow Hunger. When the hollow kills a creature that would not be affected by its Reiatsu, it may consume their soul, regaining Reiryoku equal to half the creature's proficiency bonus and causing them to be unable to be resurrected by any means.

When a soul's regrets make it unable to pass into Soul Society and a shinigami does not purify them, they become a hollow; a masked monster hell-bent on consuming souls. Due to their bestial nature, most hollows do not remember their name from their past life, and while stronger hollows will be given a name by the Shinigami Corps, weaker hollows are considered chaff only worthy of the attention of an unseated shinigami, and certainly not worth naming. While all hollows hunger for souls, nameless hollows have a significantly lesser "metabolism", allowing them to eat the naturally-abundant Reishi present in Hueco Mundo.

Hollow Archetypes[edit]

Each hollow is unique, though most tend to fall into a handful of classifications:

Acidic Hollow
Reitatsu Strikes. While the hollow has at least 1 Reiryoku, its unarmed strikes count as magical and deal 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, the hollow can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, and can make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action for 1 Reiryoku.
Acidic Strike (1 Reiryoku). When the hollow makes an unarmed strike, it deals necrotic damage instead of its normal damage type. If the target takes damage from the attack, the target must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, they lose 2 Reiryoku. On a success, they lose half as much.
Budding Hollow
Shunpo. While the hollow's Reiatsu is released, its walking speed increases by 5 feet.
Spouting (1+ Reiryoku). As an action the hollow creates a beast that is a soul, spending a number of Reiryoku equal to its CR. These beasts act on the hollow's turn.
Bulbous Hollow
Reitatsu Strikes. While the hollow has at least 1 Reiryoku, its unarmed strikes count as magical and deal 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, the hollow can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, and can make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action for 1 Reiryoku.
Bulb Scatter (3 Reiryoku). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: the hollow can control part of the target's body, causing its reach to extend to their reach. On a critical hit, they are charmed by the hollow as well. The target may make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending this effect early on a success.
Fast Hollow
Shunpo. While the hollow's Reiatsu is released, its walking speed increases by 5 feet.
Sonido (2 Reiryoku). As a bonus action for 2 Reiryoku, the hollow's walking speed increases by 5 feet and it gains a +1 bonus to its AC, Strength and Dexterity saving throws, and melee attack and damage rolls until the beginning of its next turn.
Large Hollow
Shunpo. While the hollow's Reiatsu is released, its walking speed increases by 5 feet.
Hollow Strength (1 Reiryoku). As an action, the hollow becomes Large and its unarmed strikes deal 7 (1d4 + 5) bludgeoning damage for 1 minute.
Long-Tongued Hollow
Reitatsu Strikes. While the hollow has at least 1 Reiryoku, its unarmed strikes count as magical and deal 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, the hollow can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, and can make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action for 1 Reiryoku.
Lengua Tronco (2 Reiryoku). As an action, the hollow makes an unarmed strike with an additional 10 feet of reach. This can be used while the hollow is incapacitated but not unconscious or petrified.
Simian Hollow
Reitatsu Strikes. While the hollow has at least 1 Reiryoku, its unarmed strikes count as magical and deal 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, the hollow can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, and can make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action for 1 Reiryoku.
El Martillo (1 Reiryoku). Until the end of the hollow's next turn, it gains a -2 penalty to its melee attack rolls and a +4 bonus to its melee damage rolls.
Spiritual Hollow
Innate Bakudo (2 Reiryoku). As an action, one creature within 30 feet of the hollow must succeed a DC 9 Wisdom saving throw or be restrained for 1 minute with concentration. The target or a creature touching the target can make a DC 9 Athletics or Acrobatics check as an action, ending this effect early on a success.
Innate Hado (2 Reiryoku). As an action, one creature within 30 feet of the hollow must make a DC 9 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, they take 8 (1d6 + 5) radiant damage. On a success, they take half as much damage.
Soul Separation (3 Reiryoku). On a hit with an unarmed strike against a humanoid, the target becomes a soul it they were not already. The target's body falls unconscious, and if the body the target was in was their own (i.e. not a Gigai) any damage dealt to the body is dealt to the creature instead. This has no effect on creatures that are already souls.
