Description[edit]

The Wattz 1,000 was a civilian model laser pistol mass produced in the years before the Great War. Its use of a laser focusing diode in lieu of a crystal array resulted in a lower wattage threshold than military and law enforcement models such as the AEP series, but also resulted in decreased reliability, the primary factor in their rarity, as few after the war knew how to repair laser pistols.

d20 Modern Rules[edit]

Against opponents in heavy or powered armor, the Wattz 1,000 laser pistol suffers a -4 penalty to attack rolls, unless fitted with the Magnetic Field Targeting System upgrade.

A Wattz 1,000 laser pistol can be locked down via the security protocols with an opposed Knowledge (tactics) check between the person locking it and the person attempting to unlock it. The first roll is only made once and sets the DC for all who attempt to use the gun. This opposed check is unnecessary if the person unlocking it is informed of the proper arming sequence, such as if they programmed it or were told by the person who did. Note: All BOS members know the default arming sequence of BOS Wattz 1,000 laser pistols.

Successful critical hits that reduce an enemy to 0 HP or below will reduce the enemy to a pile of smoking ash, but all armor, weapons, and equipment on the body remain undamaged.

The beam also instantly ignites any flammable gas it touches, in addition to materials like paper and gun powder.

  • Brotherhood of Steel (Variant): The BOS variant uses the same stats as the regular Wattz 1,000 laser pistol (including its ability to be modded), except it gains a +1 equipment bonus to Initiative due to expert recalibration techniques and the price increases by +1/+10.
Craft/Repair[edit]
  • Craft: (Parts DC: 50; Parts Used: 20; Craft DC 35; Time: 60h) The Wattz 1,000 can be crafted at a Weapon Crafting Table with a Craft (mechanical) skill check if the crafter possesses the schematics for it.
  • Repair: (Parts DC: 40; Parts Used: 10; Repair DC 25; Time: 10h) A Wattz 1,000 laser pistol can be repaired with mechanical parts with a Repair check. Alternatively, another Wattz 1,000 laser pistol can be used in place of parts (a Repair check is still required). This gun is affected by the Jury Rigging feat, and as such can use other laser weapons for parts if the feat is possessed.
