Huntsman Discussion[edit]
So you're the one who's made the Huntsman class originally? First of all, I thank you for making the class itself. I didn't want to touch on the base core of the original 4 subclasses you've made, but I knew it was missing . . . Something. And I've decided to take the time to make the other 4. Myself and Pickle has had some thought and effort into it, and I'm glad you appreciate the additions.
Also, if you want to hear some stories revolving around this Huntsman, do let me know, as I am currently playtesting the Field of the Bruiser.
PS, sorry for editing your page, but it's the only way I can make sure you've got my message. I tried to make it as neat as I can make it. Glass (talk) 21:14, 25 March 2019 (MDT)
- Yes I am the creator of the class. You can see the google doc if you would like to be sure. And don't worry about the page, it is the talk page after all.
I have to admit though, when I first saw somebody made 4 new subclasses that seemed at first glance wildly off balance, I was kinda pissed. But I calmed myself down, realized what you were trying to do, and figured to just go with it and try to make it work. But these still need a good deal of playtesting, no matter what.
Speaking of, I would love to hear how the class is doing in some actual games! Darkmoonrise312 (talk) 09:06, 26 March 2019 (MDT)
Thanks for your understanding in that regard. If you'd like, I could write up a story chapter on my page, updating it as it progresses. Could be interesting. But I have to warn you, I've used the pre-edit version, the one that used Constitution as one of the proficient saving throws over Intelligence. Glass (talk) 17:09, 26 March 2019 (MDT)
- I'd love to hear all about it. The saves are fine, you'd get that at level 11 as a bruiser anyway. It was just a balance thing cause having two good saves is not how any of the classes work, and Dex seems way more true to the show than con. Its the other changes I'd be more curious about. But just a general feel for how the class has been working for you would be lovely. Darkmoonrise312 (talk) 18:04, 26 March 2019 (MDT)
Eh, double proficiency is a thing, Bards usually have them and a friend has made a really tanky Warlock Paladin mix with double proficiency in Condition, but I see what you're going for. The class itself is arguably well designed, reasonably balanced for what it can do. Yeah, sure, I've found ways to make it scary as fuck at higher levels, but by that point level 20 is gonna be what it's gonna be, am I right? I'm just glad I've got the printout of it before you added Intelligence as a general saving throw, because to be fully honest . . . I've made Intelligence my dump stat.
PS, I'll get a full story on the first "chapter" on my page sometime on Friday, gotta make sure all the facts are straight. Playing between 3 campaigns makes the details like names and whatnot a little fuzzy, so bear with me. Glass (talk) 06:36, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- What I meant is that the origin save proficiencies didn’t like up with how it’s official down. See, there are three “good” saves; dexterity, constitution, and wisdom. Every class gets 1 good save and one bad save. So if the class had two good saves, it would have way more defensive power than any other class. Especially with specifically Dex and Con letting you overcome basically any physical effect. Plus intelligence saves tie the class back to the academic backdrop it is supposed to have. And no matter what, high levels get crazy. Take your time with it, don’t worry. I can wait. Darkmoonrise312 (talk) 19:04, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
Ha! "Academic background" . . . But seriously, like how you're building this class to keep in line with the actual show. But just so you know, the GM of my campaign has taken this thing into a rather, well, unexpected direction. Got the first chapter up, let me know what you think while I process the next two.
