Talk:The Ultimate Lifeform (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
I judged this page's use of {{Design Disclaimer}} to be inappropriate, and thus I have removed it. By the OP's own admission, "This race might be drastically more powerful than most other races", and per Help:Improving, Reviewing, and Removing Templates "This template is not justification for broken...design, nor is this template intended to identify pages as being...broken." Thus, {{needsbalance}} or de-powering of the page is appropriate. — Geodude (talk | contribs | email) . . 12:33, 9 November 2020 (MST)
Balance race And the removal of the design disclaimer[edit]
Greetings, It has come to my attention that the design Disclaimer of this page has been removed due to valid reasons for this race being unbalanced. And While I personally do agree that my use of it so far has not been the best, my intention was to try out and balance the race until the use of it would be appropriate. That's why I still had the page marked as being unfinished. I did not know that using it even while the page was unfinished, was not allowed. My personal goal with this race was creating a race that was a little bit stronger than the others. in order to replicate what some people would consider, characters that are the peak of evolution that can be reached. I was planning do run some campaigns using this race to see how unbalanced it was. Until the race could be considered marginally stronger and fitting of the disclaimer so that both players and DMs alike could realise this fact but, have some fun with it. If you have some personal advice to help me see that trough and make it more balanced I would be happy to hear it.--Juki12 (talk)
- Giving it a quick look over, the worst offenders here are probably Ultimate Pride, the Pillar and Bug subraces, and Hedgehog's +4. To start with the least problematic, no race gives you immunity to any condition, just advantage, so that can be fixed easily. Second, the +4 Dexterity is just kinda ridiculous. I'd either make it two different +2s(even then the balance on that concerns me), or drop it lower and give them some other kind of feature. The Bug subrace just has way more stuff overall, which is concerning. Finally, Pillar just has too many speeds.
- This thing could use some real smoothing over, in general. A lot of the terminology is rough and large chunks are unnecessary(hedgehogs extra paragraph about walking speed). Also, this definitely looks like derivative content, and you should really tag it. And, just a quick tip, I recommend looking at this, it's helped me a lot with race balance in the past.
