Talk:Slimefolk (5e Race)/Archive 1
From D&D Wiki
please try not to make any changes to this, if you have changes you want just ask your DM if you can impliment them, i want this class to be as fair as can be with its non-special rule and with its special ooze-type rule to be on par with other homebrew stuff if allowed in a campaign —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NekoKawaii (talk • contribs) . Hi, please do not undo my edits. The way the race was before, it was either overpowered or just didn't work depending on your interpretation of some of the traits. My version of it is, in my opinion, more reasonably powered and doesn't outshine and isn't outshined by any of the official races. If you have a problem with the way I did things, TALK TO ME and we can hopefully come to an agreement. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs) . . 18:10, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- hi there, this isnt your Race to consider the edits to it, this is my race and as such i dont want it messed with, if you have and balance changes you want to add to or remove traits and or features please consult your GM, do not edit the page i have posted.
- You don't own this page. Indeed, it says at the bottom of this edit screen that "If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." AngelicBahamut (talk) 18:30, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- then it shall be mercilessly changed back to my previous version each time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.67.39.52 (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- Also, could you please stop removing comments from this page? AngelicBahamut (talk) 18:50, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- Maybe my comment came off a tad aggressive. Yes, AB, you are correct that I do not own this page. By that same logic, neither do you, and neither does this IP. My edits were constructive, or at least I consider them as such. The intention behind my comment was that we could work together on this, to preserve the original intent of the race while bringing it to a reasonable power level; a point where it is neither overpowered nor underpowered. One of the chief complaints people have with this site is that it is chock-full of broken, unusable or overpowered content, and it is for this reason that I judged game balance to be a higher priority than original intent. Please work with me on this.
- And, IP: you need to be prepared for other people editing the pages you create. If you truly do not want other people editing "your" page, you can move it into your userspace, where other users are not allowed to edit, except for administrators to remove content that breaks sitewide rules. IPs do not have the privilege of a userpage or userspace, but if you create an account you will be able to move this there immediately. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs) . . 18:52, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- I believe that User:AngelicBahamut and User:Geodude671 have brought up all the major issues. I feel that you can sort this out amongst yourselves, but I will use my administrator abilities if I have to. SirSprinkles (talk) 19:42, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- Oh man, this is embarrassing... I already blocked that guy for a month because he seemed really disruptive and I figured it would give Geodude some time to work on the page. Not a long block, but hopefully he'll think things over and come around and like the page and everyone will be friends :) Anyway, unblock him if you really think it's right.--GamerAim (talk) 19:52, 24 July 2017 (MDT)
- There are no matched records in Check user, and disruptive edits from an IP are seen as worse than those from a user, so I don't see anything wrong with the current actions taken. --Green Dragon (talk) 00:28, 26 July 2017 (MDT)
Page Name[edit]
How do people feel about changing the race's name to "Slimefolk" to mimic other race names (catfolk, lizardfolk, etc)? The name needs changing anyway because it's plural and race names are supposed to be singular. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs) . . 19:41, 28 July 2017 (MDT)
- Since it's been over a week and no one has objected, I'm going to go ahead with the page move. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs) . . 17:23, 9 August 2017 (MDT)
- I like the name slimefolk. Rolls off the tongue! I'm playing as one in a new campaign soon! -- CrazyAceking . . 3:12, 28 March, 2020 (EST)
Musicus Score[edit]
—ConcealedLight (talk) 10:04, 31 July 2018 (MDT)
I judged this version of the race to have a Musicus score of 6.5. This means that it's fairly powerful, but not game-warpingly so. For reference, the dwarf is 7.5, and the elf is 7, and those are the highest-scoring races going by that scale. I judged Gooey Form to be worth 1.5 points: 0.5 for the acid resistance, because according to the scale that's the worth of the dwarf's poison resistance, and 1 for the temporary physical resistance, because it's a fairly substantial benefit, albeit temporary. I judged Amorphous to be worth 1 point for the same reason. I judged Dilution to be worth -1 point because it's a substantial drawback.
I broke this down here because the race has a lot of traits, some of them without easily discernable point value, so I thought I should post the breakdown here. I do think the race is balanced, but it certainly is powerful. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs) . . 18:06, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
- I forgot to deduct 0.5 pts for lowered movement speed. Score is actually 6.5, on par with the half-elf, not 7 as I initially stated. 20:54, 16 August 2017 (MDT)
- The race has been reworked since this breakdown. —ConcealedLight (talk) 10:04, 31 July 2018 (MDT)
I'm confused by this low score since I would have thought that versatile mold is too powerful, as it grants resistance to non-magical slashing, bludgeoning or piercing at the end of a long rest.--Yanied (talk) 14:21, 14 June 2020 (MDT)
