What is this race called?[edit]

I was just wondering, what is the actual title of this race? Is it Catgirl/Nekomusume/Nekomimi, or just Catgirl? --Green Dragon 21:46, 29 May 2006 (MDT)

The terms are all referring to the same thing, and please don't move the image into the corner again, also, you deleted some of the testing things I had. Not to be angry or anything, but still, That was work there.--Pz.Az.04Maus 00:18, 30 May 2006 (MDT)

Updates and details upon the extra stuff:[edit]

In thinking of how to make D&D Better, I started this Race in order to give both the people a good character choice to choose from as well as packing as many things that are different/new into this D&D Race as feasibly possible in order to see what works and what doesn't. The reasons for why I wanted to add these things is both, "Because I can," and, "Because I'm bored, and I wish to do something out of the box/give a good RP character race to people."

Please add possible things that you'd like for a D&D Race page to have, and please leave reviews on both the race and the new things I put in for it. I'm trying to see how much things that have been overlooked by WoTC in a Race Description/Stats that I may put in.

To do List[edit]

  • Generic Catgirl Racial stats (Includes a fixed LA for people who don't want to bother with making their race.)
  • Simplified Age/Height/Weight Tables (Again for people who just want a quick, normal Catgirl Race)
  • Place/text to differentiate between primary and secondary RP Descriptions/Racial Stats
  • Complete Basic Ruleset for Nekomimi Race.
  • Think and try to add new test rules

Rule Ideas/Implementations for Nekomimi Race[edit]

Implemented:

  • Variable LA

Desc.: To make LA more customized to personal choices of the Nekomimi.
Problems Found:
"The more stuff a race has, the less of an LA each new ability is worth." Quote by Irish
Thus, something that lowers the rating of abilities with how much points are already gained should be in order. This would require something of a Minimum possible lowering point for all abilities taken after it.

  • Advanced Age Categories.

Desc.: Enhanced and Magnified Aging rules for height and weight.

  • "Races of" RP Info. <)(Too Unoriginal?)

Desc.:
"A Day in the Life"
Nekomimi Psychology
Nekomimi Life
Nekomimi Society and Culture
Nekomimi and other Races
Creating Nekomimi
Nekomimi Communities

  • Advanced Language Requirements <)(Would make RPing more interesting, since not everyone can learn every language that easily...)

Possible Ideas:
[edit]

From Pz.Az.04Maus:

  • Population Birth Rates in a society (RP) <)(something extra, not a rule.)
    • Low-Civ.
    • Med.-Civ.
    • High-Civ.

Desc.:

  • Random NPC Catgirl Generation template <)(To Create full stats for a random NPC Nekomimi, might be an idea, but kinda unoriginal.)

Desc.:

  • In-Depth Clothing Rules Notes <)(Small thought, basically fits clothing perfectly to a Catgirl)

Desc.:

  • Advanced Age Category Bonuses/Penalties <)(Maybe... but would probably be clunky.)

Desc.:

  • Religious Affiliation Percentages <)(Again, RP-Mostly Data)

Desc.:

  • Example PC Nekomimi (For Design Purposes) <)(Perhaps...)
    • Must be all Geared Towards RP, Explain reasons for choice so that people get idea of what A Catgirl is usually like.

Desc.:

  • Advanced Height/Weight categories/bonuses? <)(Would probably be unfeasable/clunky, allow to be an addon if used {Perhaps be a test rule for d20.00?}.)

Desc.:

  • randomized Age Category dates? <)(Again, may be Clunky/bulky. Make an addon if allowed.)

Desc.:

  • Basic Metabolism Rules <)(should not be difficult to know, should be very simple.)

Desc.:

  • Torn Asunder Ruleset notes? <)(A little something extra? Of course is an add-on, not necessary to play Nekomimi in a generic Campaign.)

Desc.:

  • RP Story about Nekomimi <)(Something already done before in D&D, but might be worth it.)

Desc.:

  • Nekomimi Diseases <)(ooooh....)

Desc.:

  • Nekomimi Life Cycles <)(meh... A tiny bit useful, but not important)

Desc.:

  • Nekomimi Anatomy/Physiology <)("Mommy, do we have to...?" A plausable idea.)

Desc.:

  • Nekomimi Racial Feats/Racial Substitution Levels <)(An Idea for upgrading certain abilities...)

Desc.:

  • Quik-Ability Examples <)(Hypothesized by Irish, not a bad idea)

Desc.: Provicdes Definite variants of Nekomimi for a person who doesn't want to choose each and every possible ability.
Notes: 3, maximum.

Racial Substitutions:

Nekomimi Rogue

Nekomimi Ranger

Nekomimi Barbarian (XD, Random, I know.)

Extra Ideas:[edit]

Indeliable Cuteness (+0.8) Something along the lines of: "A catgirl is always cute. T--Pz.Az.04Maus 04:59, 26 June 2006 (MDT)--Pz.Az.04Maus 04:59, 26 June 2006 (MDT)hey cannot avoid or hide this fact, and, though it makes them endearing, it is also terribly inconvenient, at times. Unless shapeshifted into another form, such as by a spell of the polymorph subschool, they automatically fail any Bluff or Disguise checks to imitate anything which is not cute. In additon, they take a -8 cuteness penalty to Intimidate checks, which can only be offset by ridiculous displays of magical powers, classified as an evocation spell of seventh level or higher. However, this quality can work to their advantage, granting them a +4 cuteness bonus on Bluff and Diplomacy checks, due to an endearing nature. In addition, they are immune to effects which damage Charisma."

  • Also, possibly, prehensile tails.
  • Don't forget the Scent ability and a bonus on Listen and Spot checks.

Advanced Example Race Template for Nekomimi.[edit]

To be Added... --Pz.Az.04Maus 00:46, 18 June 2006 (MDT)

What Size?[edit]

What size is this race? --Green Dragon 23:16, 13 September 2006 (MDT)

They have "Medium" listed in the Racial Traits section. I've updated the categories appropriately. --Oneiros 09:59, 14 September 2006 (MDT)
I did not notice that it said the size... sorry. I will change the "Size" thing on the LA Pages now. Thanks for the help. --Green Dragon 16:28, 14 September 2006 (MDT)

LA Modifier?[edit]

Perhaps I could multiply the score with each mod that's given with a multiplier (say *1.15, etc)? Requesting ideas. --Pz.Az.04Maus 15:53, 4 November 2006 (MST)

I am a bit confused, could you please explain better? --Green Dragon 16:30, 4 November 2006 (MST)
Every little feature you add places a modifier onto the original LA. Say a *2 mod is placed on a 2 LA, you get 4 LA... Of course it's not going to be that high... --Pz.Az.04Maus 20:34, 5 November 2006 (MST)

Abilities...[edit]

I'm trying to think of things that are unique from D&D, being never before seen until now. I'm also trying to keep fairly balanced abilities, and I'm trying to make sure that each ability is useful in its own right. --Pz.Az.04Maus 18:11, 9 January 2007 (MST)

Finishing the traits[edit]

I'm taking the liberty of finishing the bonus ability stuff... I've nothing better to do anyways. :-P --Gruegirl 20:28, 20 October 2007 (MDT)

That, I would imagine, is fine. Pz.Az.04Maus is no longer a contributor to D&D Wiki, so feel free to change this to something more balanced and more playable. --Green Dragon 17:17, 22 October 2007 (MDT)
Well then I guess I'll take this onto myself to finish the whole thing. Why not? --Gruegirl 11:31, 24 October 2007 (MDT)
Sounds good :). --Green Dragon 22:28, 24 October 2007 (MDT)
? Mmh. *Shrugs* --Pz.Az.04Maus 15:10, 25 October 2007 (MDT)
If you put it that way, then... Damn. I might have to be forced to come back.--Pz.Az.04Maus 15:10, 25 October 2007 (MDT)
O_o. Yeah. Now I'm faced with the conundrum. Why did I leave if all that's gonna happen is that the race is gonna get picked down to generic D&D standards. Well, time to work. --Pz.Az.04Maus 15:17, 25 October 2007 (MDT)
Well... I'm trying to just make it playable. That was top priority... I'm going to sign any comments I leave with -GG so we can discuss each change. --Gruegirl 14:13, 3 November 2007 (MDT)

'kay. I'll try to look at this on Monday (Day time, not now) --Pz.Az.04Maus 22:23, 4 November 2007 (MST)
Crap, forgot. I'll get to it later tonight. --Pz.Az.04Maus 17:32, 8 November 2007 (MST)
Blagh. So much for monday. I'm signing my comments with -Ms. --Pz.Az.04Maus 20:18, 23 August 2008 (MDT)

Dogs[edit]

i was thinking that i should create a dog-like race that is like this one but gain different abilities and (obviously) dog like with other variations between the two. How does that sound? --Xdeletedx 16:28, 26 February 2008 (MST)

I'll start my work offline and when it's ready i'll add it as a draft on here --Xdeletedx 16:54, 26 February 2008 (MST)
Sounds like it could be interesting :). --Green Dragon 23:26, 26 February 2008 (MST)

Inu, Usagi, and More[edit]

You should consider making Inu, Usagi and the other loveable anthromorphs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.48.35.8 (talkcontribs) 14:57, 29 August 2008 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

1, Shouldn't this be in discussion? 2, Might want to explain more about Inu and Usagi. Not sure where they're from (besides anime, obviously) - (Ms) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pz.Az.04Maus (talkcontribs) 23:02, 30 August 2008 (MDT). Please sign your posts.
1. Both Inu and Usagi are Japanese for Dog and rabbit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.166.12.70 (talkcontribs) 14:52, 16 March 2009 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

  1. Shippotsuika: (Nein.) (Well what other advantages would there be for extra tails, that can be stacked? -GG)
  2. Nekote (Nekoashi): +2 to move silently, allows the Neko to make an acrobatic charge. An acrobatic charge is like a normal charge with the following changes: it does not provoke attack of opportunity, they are allowed to move over all terrain at full speed, and they are allowed to make tumble checks as part of the charge. (+1) (Maybe, but needs to be nerfed/changed.) (changed it a bit -GG)
  3. Feline Muscles: (Maybe.) (I figured the fact that cats move suddenly at any sound had to be reflected SOMEWHERE -GG)
  4. Mind of a Teenager: (What kind of thing do you want for this one and mind of Nekomusume? -GG) ( Hmm... I think this should just be cut. I don't really see any use for these 2. Maybe Nekomusume can get some negative mental attribs as well as some other junk in a package. - Ms)
  5. Natural Claws (Needs Nekotsume and Claws of the Cat) -2 to all dexterity based skill checks excepting Tumble and move silently (-.5) (Claws are non-retractable. Maybe this'll work.) (Redefined it a little, I considered excepting ride as well... but then again if you keep accidentally scratching your mount you probably won't be as good with riding. -GG) (True. -Ms)
  6. Delicate bones: -1 hitpoints per level (-.7)(Maybe) (Maybe a penalty against bull rush? -GG) (That'd work, and Crit threats are 1 better?)
  7. Unable to eat any food save meat-based products. Doubles the cost of rations. (Maybe.) (doesn't get anymore carniverous then that... -GG) ( True. - Ms)
  8. Emotional Neko: After any failed skill check they are considered shaken for 1d6 minutes. (-0.7) (Mhh... I dunno. -Ms)
  9. Tailless: -2 balance and tumble (-0.6) (Uhm... maybe.)
  10. Hyperactive: Cannot take 20 on any check. weight is -10 pounds from what is rolled. Cannot be taken with Hypoactive. (-.9) (How 'bout now? -GG) ( hmm. I like it -Ms)
  11. Naivety: Character will believe anything told to them unless a will save (DC=15+Charisma modifier of person talking to catgirl+HD of person talking to catgirl-HD of catgirl) (-1.5) (Maybe.) (What if that the character treats all people that she meets as one step higher on the attitude chart than she'd otherwise do? -Ms) (I would have done it as a serious penalty to Sense Motive, but that's just me and my love of simplicity. - Anon)
  12. Neurotic Kitty: Tally each successful check, save, or attack and each failure each day. If failures are greater then successes, then the catgirl is considered Shaken for 4 hours the next day. (-1) (Maybe, but very annoying.)
  13. Strange Brew: The Neko has much less self control because of their feral nature. Once per round when they take damage they must make a will save equal to half the damage dealt from the largest source. If failed flip a coin. Heads, the Neko does everything in his/her power to damage the being who damaged him/her and cannot attack any other being unless moving around them would cause attack of opportunity. Tails they take a withdraw action. (-1.6) (Supposed to be a effect based on how they're not just Neko, but also wolf/bunny/etc girl. what does critical fails have to do with anything?) (My mistake, I thought it was like they were born under a bad sign or something... how do you like it now? -GG)(Hmm. It'd probably seem like too much micromanagement to be viable. I believe I was thinking it was going to be a non-combat trait, like that the character manifests certain 'odd' characteristics, a compulsion to lightly harrass somebody for no apparent reason, et cetera. - Ms)

move and add redirects[edit]

I suggest we move this page to something like Catgirl_(3.5e_Race), and then add redirects for Nekomusume and Nekomimi that direct those pages to Catgirl. There is no reason for this name to be so long and so confusing. While Catgirl and Nekomusme are currently unused, nekomimi is taken (I think), so we should either merge them, or add one as a variant. --Badger 19:29, 1 June 2011 (MDT)

I agree. This page really needs to have just one name. Although, a gender neutral name should probably be chosen, and Nekomusume seems to translate as Catgirl. If it matters, nekomimi is only kind of taken, at the moment. — saint23thomas – 16:04, 24 July 2014 (MDT)

Trait list[edit]

Isn't this race basically just a "make your ideal race but you're a cat" race? I like things that are different, but this seems to go way too far. I feel this could benefit from just being culled into normal mechanics. And the whole trait system perhaps better just made as a 3.5e Variant Rule, or something? --SgtLion (talk) 06:38, 11 February 2018 (MST)
