Talk:5e Subraces
From D&D Wiki
There are homebrew Genasi subraces that should be here instead of on the 5e Races page, but they're in Elemental Evil. Should I move them here and rephrase that sentence about the PHB, or make a separate list on the page for non-PHB-based subraces? Knowlessman (talk) 21:08, 13 March 2016 (MDT)
- I rephrased it. Thanks to the ambiguities in the English language, "the races in WotC publications that have the subrace trait. " could mean races with the subrace trait or publications with the subrace trait, but I assume readers will know what I mean :) Marasmusine (talk) 03:27, 14 March 2016 (MDT)
Question, can a half elf become sainted if both human and elf parent were sainted?
- I don't see why not, but you would have to homebrew your own sainted half-elf variant. I would replace Skill Versatility with the orisons, and/or replace Darkvision with Holy Touch. Marasmusine (talk) 02:57, 23 July 2017 (MDT)
Removing untraditional subraces[edit]
Why are tiefling, dragonborn, etc. subraces being removed? WotC had published rules to make subraces for these races, so why would we not support homebrew content using those rules? - Guy 08:46, 21 August 2018 (MDT)
- The line between subrace and variant race is thin and by including those races that don't have subraces in the official publication there is no longer any overlap. When I realized this was probably the intent of the separate pages I reverted my edits that added such pages and moved the appropriate pages to race variants. —ConcealedLight (talk) 09:47, 21 August 2018 (MDT)
Why is Dragonborn not an official or first party race? It is listed in the PHB on page 32. Arquebus (talk) 13:06, 16 April 2020 (MDT) OK, I have moved Paisley Dragonborn to the Race Variant list. Arquebus (talk) 20:50, 18 April 2020 (MDT)
"Official Subraces"[edit]
Isn't this term a bit confusing? Taken out of context one would imagine "official subraces" refers to races published by WotC. I believe it should at least be changed to "Subraces of Official Races." (Even just "subraces" should be fine, really.) - Guy 22:06, 8 April 2020 (MDT)
- I agree that using the "official subraces" wording is a bit misleading/confusing. I also dislike the "Subraces of Official Races" wording as I find it to be a bit wordy, so I would prefer changing the name to just "Subraces".--Blobby383b (talk) 14:28, 19 April 2020 (MDT)
Uncategorized Subrace Needs Categorization[edit]
I have created a subrace called the fire-bellied tortle. However, there is no grouping for tortle subraces on this page. Could someone create one, with a superscript that reads "Tortle Package," the way the genasi grouping has a superscript that reads "Elemental Evil?"
- Sure, when tortles get subraces. It should probably be moved to (5e Race Variant) instead, they've got a place for tortles. --SwankyPants (talk) 22:12, 22 May 2021 (MDT)
