Premius (Grisaire Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
Notable Places[edit]
- Capital: Maqi Rex is the renowned moving capital of Premius. It is an entirely artificial structure, built like a gigantic city on mechanical spider legs. This allows it to be mobile in times of strife. The versatility of Maqi Rex is believed to be integral to the rise of Premius as a world power. Its design was spearheaded by infamous goblin engineer, Griks Zalow, just years after he joined the scientific research force. In 20 years, the entirety of Maqi Rex became a mobile construct, with the stat block of a living city. The city itself holds a bustling metropolis, fitted with various entertainment districts, slums, commerce, and boasting some of the most advanced technological lifestyles on the planet. This is not without its cost, however, as the city's glut of indulgence creates an excess of waste that is often flushed out to other regions of the country. In addition to being one of the largest cities, Maqi Rex has the largest red-light district, complete with grand showrooms and a gambling complex, as well as a massive laboratory built into the resplendent castle of the ruling monarchy.
Rabinswald: The Ravenwood is a dark forest full of leafless, black trees in the northeastern region of the kingdom. It was formerly a verdant strip of nature. During the rise of the empire in the March of Gears, the natural beauty of the nations Morkan, Eskain, and Tasnen was sacrificed to feed their military machine. The soil turned acrid and the wildlife faded, leaving a forest of black. The land has yet to recover from this, thus the current state of the wood.
Ogulia Region: The third largest region of Premius, Ogulia encompasses the northwestern corner of the Premius coast across from Hagai. The northernmost regions are rather frigid, with ice floes that dam up ships frequently. Lower down the coast, it is known to have a thriving market of fishing, encompassing the livelihood of several small villages up and down the shoreline. The entire region is under the control of the baron Ioque Merrinthson, an elf with a god-gifted metal prosthetic fist that he uses to crush those who do not fulfill his quotas. It is said Orshiidi gifted him that weapon back during the years of the Premier Force, and he has been abusing it since.
Lowlach Region: South of the Regis Range is where two lakes touch, across which is Aerzale land. This area is home to small agricultural communities that have recently fallen on hard times as a result of industrial pollution upstream. They are notable for having eked a living dealing with horrible modified livestock. Many community leaders are puppets placed by the central heads in Maqi Rex. Most of the common folk here despise the central government for their negligible behavior.
Brewfell Region: This region encompasses the southwest of the country, including the coast and inland area bordering the Dons'for Delta shared with Engal. There is a local legend about a humongous boar that lays in slumber under one of the many hills in this uneven area. It's apparently so big that it can house a large town atop its back. This region is home to an interesting altitude with moisture levels that are hospitable to breeds of grapes. Wine and various other grape-based alcohols form a thriving industry here.
Miscellaneous Places[edit]
The Penderton Domain is land that once belonged to the Penderton estate, one of the highest ranking aristocrats from the country of Eskain, before the Premier Force merger. It is known for a quaintly quiet spot in the middle of nowhere, located in southwest Premius and encompassing an entire portion of the bay and delta bordering Engal. While it appears serene, many locals avoid it for rumors of its craggy bluffs bearing strange spirits that try to lure people to their deaths, as well as the legend of the Headless Headsman who wanders the place.
Magdar'ha is an inland resort site located in central Premius, in the region of Ysukki. This temperate location, northeast of Brewfell and west of Lowlach, enjoys a large lake, named Omuard. The proximity of this resort to the capital makes it a common vacation spot for urbanites to get away from the moving city. Omuard is actually an underground lake that was unearthed through extensive terraforming. Magdar'ha's resort is built into the surrounding difference in elevation from the surface of the ground to that of the lake. The location is able retain a lower temperature even in blistering summers, making it a popular spot to go. Omuard connects to an actual cave system of underground waterways. As a result, possibilities of monster attacks from the nearby surrounding is never zero. There are always open job slots for adventurers to do bodyguard work here, as well as extermination patrol.
People[edit]
Ever since the rise of Griks Zalow, the natural goblin population has largely been depleted, with most members having fled eastward. Nowadays, most of Premius' metropolis is populated with humans and halflings, along with a nice mix of warforged and tieflings in the other main cities. Towards the more suburban and rural areas, there are gnomes and dwarves who make a living along the hills and such. Dwarves are the most populous race in Premius. Up north, where the frigid steppes lay, are fringe populations of yeti and even orcs and goliaths. Down south, toward Engal, are pockets of spigers that live along the rivers. Spiderlings are also a race in Premius, but they are often kept as lowly soldiers, away from public eye.
- Orcs
The orcs of Premius are known collectively as the Otodonoye, roughly translating to "cold teeth." They are situated in the northwestern Ogulia region and are believed to be a splinter from the Ot'dineya orc collective in Hagai's east coast. Their dialect of Orc is known as Otodonoye. This is spoken across their collective of clans, of which there are around 15. The Otodonoye live as hunter gatherers in the frigid mountains, taking shelter from harsh weather in caves. They are known for their stories and epics, all of which are by oral tradition save for the cave paintings that dot their cave abodes.
Society[edit]
Governance[edit]
The Iron Crown is the title of the emperor of Premius. The Iron Crown is technically the strongest position in the country, being only partially balanced by the Iron Court, which functions as little more than advisors than anything like a parliament. Much of the Iron Crown's power comes from direct control of a paramilitary faction within the country's already-massive military wing. This faction is known as the Erschosstein and is notorious for conducting secret police activities that assassinate and commit espionage within Premius itself to quell dissent against the Crown. In addition to the Erschosstein, the Premius military encompasses four units and is notably perhaps the most well-invested military in all of Endix. The four units are the Cobalt Wolves ("Barutoka"), Obsidian Titans ("Ubømpe"), Ruby Dragons ("Rivyykon"), and Citrine Sparrows ("Serçin").
- The Barutoka are known for being foot soldiers. They move in large platoons and constitute the bulk of the army. Enlistment for the Barutoka is mandatory from the age set by race: 16 for humans and halflings; 13 for dwarves, gnomes, goliaths, dragonborn; 12 for elves and goblinoids; and 15 for all other races (amendable as needed).
- Ubømpe are considered the elite force of the military, being able to wield a variety of limited-supply vehicles and arms, including those of experimental deadliness.
- The Rivvykon are actually the research and development part of the military. All the research societies are under the Rivvykon umbrella. Currently, Griks Zalow is one of the head directors of this unit.
- Serçin are members of the military specialized in miscellaneous operations mirroring that of the Erschosstein, but they are able to conduct this outside Premius borders. As such, they conduct espionage and assassinations abroad, as well as dealing with underground forces and exchanging intelligence with foreign bodies.

Adventures[edit]
The Headless Headsman of Penderton[edit]
Within the Penderton Domain of southwest Premius, there is a lone figure that wanders through the nights. This eerie specter is the headless headsman According to legend, this is the spirit of a past, crooked headsman who used to serve the Penderton family by eliminating those they deemed unseemly rivals. When the Pendertons ultimately were driven to ruin because of the seizure of their assets, the headsman was also exposed for all the dirty deeds he had done for them. He was executed for his crimes, along with the rest of the Penderton family. His spirit now haunts this region in seeming search of something. Is it revenge or something else...
Shambledown Throwdown![edit]
The town of Shambledown is picked as a surprise entrant into the biennial invention festival of the country, meant to showcase the brightest and most innovative. Many avid and eager tinkerers must come up with entry projects in hope of obtaining national research grants and recognition to bring their works to the big scale and even guarantee a job in the state's scientific forces. Some inventors are looking to hire saboteurs and spies on their opponents, prompting others to hire adventurer muscle!
