Luckily for the UNSC, a Spartan has never been recorded as having been infected by the flood. However, war game simulations aboard the UNSC Infinity have run simulations on what would happen if even a single Spartan-IV, or in some cases a Spartan-II, were to be infected. Each time the result was the same, rapid spreading through the ranks resulting in total annihilation and an unstoppable parasite. As such, the UNSC has developed the Gallows VISR configuration, which contains various anti-flood safeguards including explosive charges within the helmet should an infection happen. However, should even this fail, the CORRUPTER cryptonym falls into effect, allowing and requiring any and all UNSC air and spacecraft within range to fire weapons of mass destruction on the point of infection.
