Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 slashing damage.
If you choose so, the spell will gain a bleeding status effect. After being hit, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 1d4 slashing damage at the start of each of its turn for 4 turns. The target can make another saving throw at the start of its turn. If the target succeeds, the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. when you reach higher levels The bleeding status effect deals more damage: 2d4 slashing damage at 4th level and 3d6 slashing damage at 7th level. When you cast this spell using a spell slot 2nd or higher, the damage is increased by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
