Deku Nut (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Wondrous item, uncommon

A typical deku nut in Hyrule is oblong, between 2 and 8 inches in diameter, and with a bark-like exterior except for a gleaming golden crack that splits across half its circumference. It is said that at one point in Hyrule's history, these powerful items were abundant. The few that remain are treasured among deku scrubs and kokiri.

You can activate a deku nut as an action by throwing it anywhere within a range of 20 feet. As an action, you can shoot it from a slingshot to increase this range to 30 feet, or a or seed shooter to increase the range to 60 feet. The nut must strike hard the surface enough to crack it open, destroying it in the process. Every creature other than you within 5 feet of the impact point must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. Any blind creature automatically succeeds on this saving throw. On a failure, a target takes 1d4 radiant damage and suffers one of the following effects depending on its remaining hit points:

Hit Points Effect
25 or fewer blinded and paralyzed until the end of your next turn
25 to 50 blinded and incapacitated until the end of your next turn
50 to 100 incapacitated until the end of your next turn
100 or more No effect

For the purpose of this item, a creature is always treated as having more than 100 hit points if it can take legendary actions, or has the Legendary Resistance feature.

Any type of keese within 10 feet of the impact point does not get a saving throw, and instead is instantly killed.
