4th-level Conjuration | |
Casting time: | 1 bonus action |
---|---|
Range: | Self |
Components: | V, M (a small iron ball bearing, which the spell consumes) |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Upon casting this spell, a magical explosive appears in the caster's hand. The caster can hold on to the explosive, throw it right after casting the spell, or give it to someone else. The explosive instantaneously disappears if not used within 1 hour. The person currently in possession of the explosive can spend an action to throw it up to a number of feet equal to 30 + 5 times your spellcasting ability modifier, where it explodes on impact. Upon detonation, every creature within 10 feet of the explosive must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 6d6 fire damage and be knocked back 5 feet. On a successful save, half as much damage is taken and the creature isn't knocked back. Any creature of Huge size or larger is not affected by the knockback property of the spell.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage of the explosive increases by 1d6 and the throwing range increases by 5 feet for each spell level above 4th.
