Artifices[edit]

Artifices are constructs built by master artisans and animated by their faith, typically to a deity, good or evil, but any powerful entity could grant an artifice the spark of life, such as an elemental lord, mighty fiend or unearthly aberration. Artifices are typically found among other disciples of the same master, such as a god's church or a fiendish cult.
Just as varied as their masters, the materials and form of an artifice can also vary wildly. Most are made from metal, but some are made from stone or wood or something even stranger. For instance, an artifice dedicated to an aberration may be made from pulsating flesh. Similarly, while most artifices resemble their master's servants, angels or fiends, others are animals or monsters.

Deific Artifice. Artifices are highly intelligent by the standards of constructs and can speak and understand many languages. In battle, artifices are capable of planning for themselves and adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
Though artifices are made by mortal hands, their absolute loyalty belongs to the deity they were created to serve. Any other master is temporary and the artifice will turn upon them without a second thought if ordered to.

Constructed Nature. An artifice doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Variant: Alternate Artificed Weapons[edit]

The faith that brings an artifice to life can be dedicated to any master, so some artifices deal damage types other than radiant with their Artificed Weapons trait. An artifice that deals a damage type other than radiant with Artificed Weapons deals that same damage type whenever it would normally deal radiant damage.
