You throw a ball of raging black fire toward a creature of your choice within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 plus their CR (maximum 5) fire damage.
As part of casting this spell, you can also use your bonus action to charge the spell. When you do so, the spell deals 2d10 plus the target's CR (maximum 5) fire damage and the target takes fire damage equal to their CR again at the start of their next turn.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher the damage increases by 1d8, or 1d10 if charged, for each slot above 1st. Also, the CR maximum of the additional damage increases by 5 for every two slots above 1st.
