Venomous Ray
1st-level evocation
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: S, M (A serpent's fang)
Duration: 1 round

You fire a venomous ray at a creature within range creature. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1 piercing damage, and must succeed a Constitution saving throw or take 3d8 poison damage and become poisoned for the duration. A target that succeeds on this save takes half as much poison damage and isn't poisoned.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a slot of 2nd level or higher, this spell's damage increases by 1d8 and this spell's duration increases by 1 round, for each slot level above 1st.
