Vasto Lorde (Soul Society Supplement)
Vasto Lorde[edit]
Medium undead (Hollow), chaotic evil Armor Class 22 (Unarmored Defense)
Saving Throws Str +12, Wis +12 Reiryoku. The Vasto Lorde has 120 reiryoku. Whenever it uses reiryoku, it is spent. It regains all reiryoku spent at the end of a short or long rest. Siege Monster. The Vasto Lorde deals twice as much damage to objects and structures. Reiatsu-Empowered Strikes. The Vasto Lorde's attacks are considered magical. Supreme Hollow. The Vasto Lorde counts a Gargantuan for the purposes of grappling other creatures and wielding objects. King's Presence. If the Vasto Lorde utilizes its reiatsu against a creature, they make the Strength saving throw with disadvantage and take twice as much damage. Perfected Almagamation. The Vasto Lorde automatically succeeds on saving throws against effects that would target or affect its soul (such as the Soul Cage spell). Soul Devourer. Whenever the Vasto Lorde reduces a creature in Soul form to 0 hit points, they may choose to devour them, regaining reiryoku and hit points equal to the creature's reiatsu level times 5. These Reiryoku and hit points cannot pass their maximum. They can also devour the corpse of a soul who died in at max one minute ago. When a soul is devoured this way, they are killed outright and cannot be revived unless the Vasto Lorde is killed by a zanpakuto. Soul Separator. As part of hitting a creature that's not on soul form, it can spend 2 reiryoku to separate their soul from their bodies, turning them into a Wandering Spirit for 1 minute or until they die or are knocked unconscious. This only works if the creatures' reiatsu level is lower than 1. Hollow Regeneration. The Vasto Lorde regains 5 (1d10) hit points after every minute passed while they are in the Hueco Mundo plane. Evasion. Whenever the Vasto Lorde is subject to an effect that forces it to make a Dexterity saving throw, it takes half as much damage on a failure and no damage on a success. Sonido. When the Vasto Lorde moves, it can double its movement speed and become a blur for the duration of its movement. After using Sonido, it has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks until the beginning of its next turn. This movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks. After using Sonido, its first unarmed strike will be made with advantage until the beginning of its next turn. Finally, it is considered invisible to any creatures without a passive perception higher than or equal to 20, until the end of its turn or the start of its next turn (whichever comes first). This invisibility ends early if it attacks, casts a kido spell, uses a Cero or a similar action, forces a creature to make a saving throw or ability check, or deals damage. Supreme Regeneration. At the start of each of its turns, the Vasto Lorde regains 20 hit points, as long as it has at least 1 hit point and 1 Reiryoku. It can spend up to 6 bonus Reiryoku when it regains hit points in this way. For every Reiryoku it spends, the hit points regained increase by 20. If it's missing any limbs or body members, they are restored once it has regained, or would have regained hit points 10 times from this mutation since it was lost. For every Reiryoku spent on this trait, it can instantly restore one lost limb or body member. Reactive. The Vasto Lorde regains its reaction at the start of each creature’s turn in combat. If it spends its reaction on its turn, it doesn't regain it until another creature’s turn passes. If it needs to dodge an attack on a successful Evasive Dexterity Saving Throw, such as a cero, it can use its reaction to regain enough movement to do so, provided its speed would be high enough to do so without accounting for expended movement, and it succeeded on the Dexterity saving throw. ACTIONSMultiattack. The Vasto Lorde makes four unarmed strikes attacks. Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage. Garganta. The Vasto Lorde can spend 10 reiryoku to open a portal between dimensions, sending them to Hueco Mundo. If they do not move 5 feet or lose concentration, they are transported to any location they can visualize in Hueco Mundo or a random location on the plane, or to the last place they used Garganta, at the beginning of their next turn. If they are already within Heuco Mundo, this portal instead works as if it were the gate spell, minus that they cannot pull a creature through the gate. Cero(15 Reiryoku). As an action, the Vasto Lorde can fire off a beam of energy in a 40 feet wide, 480 feet long line. Each creature within that area must make a DC 20 Evasive Dexterity Saving Throw. On a failed save, they take 152 (16d8 + 80) force damage. BONUS ACTIONSLord's Primal Roar(15 Reiryoku). The Vasto Lorde lets out a roar of primal savageness. It makes a Charisma (Intimidation) roll against all creatures that can hear it. They make a Wisdom (Insight) check against the intimidation roll. If they fail the check, they are frightened for 1 minute, and turned for the same duration (see the Turn Undead channel divinity for the effects of the turned effect). The turned effect ends if it deals damage to the target. If they succeed the check, they are unnerved by it for 1 round, and suffer disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks, unless they can no longer see you. If a creature is immune to the frightened condition, on a successful check they are instead unnerved for 1 minute, suffering disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks unless they can no longer see you. Every creature who fails this save also suffers the Vasto Lorde's Reiatsu feature as though they failed the save, if their reiatsu level is low enough for it to apply, and they are within range of that feature. REACTIONSSonido Dodge. Whenever the Vasto Lorde is targetted by an attack roll, line or cone saving throw, it can use a reaction to move up to its Sonido affected movement speed (taking from its next turn's movement). |
