Alchemist's Tools. Common tool (artisan), 50 gp. Alchemist's tools include the items you need to pursue a specific trade. Proficiency with these tools lets you use them to craft or pursue freelance work during downtime. Proficiency also adds your proficiency bonus to any ability checks made for using the tools for their intended purpose, for any check made in the pursuit of the associated trade, and to Intelligence checks made to recall knowledge associated with this trade.
These tools are used to craft chemical goods such as acid, glue, perfume, poisons, and salves. Goods made to be safely drunk, such as potions and alcohol, are instead in the domain of brewer's tools. Alchemist's tools generally include glassware such as breakers and droppers, a mortar and pestle, and a pouch of inexpensive alchemical ingredients such as quicksilver and powdered quartz.
Many alchemy spells either require or are enhanced by the use of alchemist's tools, making these highly sought by those specializing in this source of magic.
