1/3 spellcasting table for subclasses

Spellcasting

By 3rd level, you have learned to augment your martial prowess with magic.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Subclass Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell shield and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast shield using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher. You know three 1st-level wizard spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the abjuration and evocation spells on the wizard spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Subclass Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an abjuration or conjuration spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an abjuration or evocation spell, unless you’re replacing the spell you gained at 8th, 14th, or 20th level.

Spellcasting Ability

Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since you learn your spells through study and memorization. You use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spell Attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spellcasting Focus

You can use a simple melee weapon as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.

DPL's

DPl's or dynamic page lists allow you to create lists of pages that all fall under some sort of umbrella such as all pages that share part of a name, pages that all share a category, and many other combinations.

DPL How To's

Using dpl's to get the exact results you want on something can be tricky, especially if you don't know how exactly to get the dpl to do what you want it to. Because of this, the wiki has compiled some of the useful tips for editing dpls. The hope is that this guide will be useful for users looking to understand the basics of how dpls function.

Sorting by Category and Nocategory

The main bulk of the dpls on the wiki sort pages by using the category and notcategory parameters. These parameters sort pages by what categories on are a page. The category parameter makes a dpl pull all pages on the wiki with the category that is entered into it. Meanwhile, the nocatgeory parameter excludes all pages on the wiki with the entered into. As an example below, the dpl will look for pages with the help category while excluding all pages with the user category.

{{#dpl: |category=help |nocatgeory=user }}

Sorting by Either

When using the category parameter, adding ¦ allows you to have a dpl look for if a page has one of the categories listed. This is useful if not all the pages you want in a given dpl have all of the categories required. As an example below, the dpl will look for pages with at least one of the X or Y or Z categories. Additional ¦ can be added after each category to add more either categories to the parameter.

<DPL> category=X¦Y¦Z </DPL>

Sorting by Page Name

Besides sorting by categories, one can also use dpls to sort by a page name using either titleregexp or titlematch and nottitlematch. If either titlematch or titleregexp is used more than once, the dpl will look for page names that contain any of the paramaters entries instead of pages that contain all of the parameters' entries. One should typically stick to using one set of these parameters over the other instead of using both titleregexp and titlematch as they have different uses.

The titleregexp parameter will look for pages on the wiki with that have the parameters given entry as part of their name and works with the category and nocategory parameters. Meanwhile, titlematch has similar but more functions than titleregexp except titlematch does not work with category and nocategory parameters and instead works with the nottitlematch parameter which can be used to exclude some results from the dpl. In addition, one can use % before the titlematch or nottitlemathc entries to look for page names that end with the entry; one can use % after the entry to look for page names that start with the entry; one can use % before and after the titlematch entry to look for page names that contain the entry anywhere in its name; finally, if one doesn't use % in the entry the dpl will either only look for that specific page name if using titlematch or exclude pages with those specific page names if using nottitlematch. Below, one can find two examples of dpls which use either the titleregexp or titlematch and nottitlematch parameters.

{{#dpl: debug=1 |category=5e |category=Equipment |titleregexp=Machine[^a-z]{{!}}Doll[^a-z] |order=ascending }}

{{#dpl: debug=1 |titlematch=%machine%|%doll%|Machine%|%Doll |nottitlematch=Machine Doll, Variant (5e Race) |order=ascending }}

Sorting by Other Things

If the pages the dpl pull from share a template parameter, one can have the dpl sort by what content that parameter. Class hit die/spellcasting classes 5e. Another example would be Sorting magical items by rarity.

Other Useful Parameters

notnamespace/namespace

Adjusting Output

Show say 5e race tables shows some additional info on the Race by pulling info from a specific parameter in a template on the page. say maintenance templates and how they change the look of the output.

(not how dpls on the wiki do it, but the dpl does work) {{#dpl: |category=race |category=Celestial Type |include={5e Racial Traits}:summary:abilities:size:speed |table=class="wikitable sortable",Name,Summary,Abilities,Size,Speed }}

Describe the function that removes page's identifiers

Describe order methods (alphabetical, first/lastedit, etc.)

17 pages need to be merged. (or results header to count pages)

Useful DPLs

Random Page

With the following dpl, you can select a number of categories and the dpl will pull from those categories to find a random page belonging to one of them. This particular DPL chooses a random 5e class or race.
