You visibly designate a target within range that you can see, granting you supernatural insight into how to best harm the chosen target. You gain advantage on the next attack roll you make against the target on your next turn, provided you've maintained concentration on this spell until then. If the attack hits, it deals an additional 2d8 damage.
Cantrip Scaling. The extra damage dealt by the attack increases by 2d8 when you reach 5th level (4d8), 11th level (6d8), and 17th level (8d8).
Discern Weakness. When you cast this spell on a creature, you can choose to learn the most pertinent weakness that creature has in the current situation. This is usually a damage vulnerability, but the spell can also reveal such things as to how to bypass an immunity or resistance, or even the existence and location of a weak spot. Once this spell has revealed information about a creature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it in this way again.
