Talk:Poised (5e Feat)
I’ll be honest with you, this thing is a mess. Do you mind if I try to fix it? --SwankyPants (talk) 10:45, 5 May 2021 (MDT)
- Go ahead. This is designed to go with the Wardrober human variant race so please check that out too to see where I'm coming from. Arquebus (talk) 14:43, 5 May 2021 (MDT)
- To be honest again, no clue how it’s related to the race. I’m just gonna try to have it make more sense, no sweeping changes. --SwankyPants (talk) 15:07, 5 May 2021 (MDT)
- The idea is that wardrobers have 'poise'. But, I am open to whatever you do. I want it to be generally useful. If it no longer works for the race, I can just add the earlier content back in to the race as a feature. :) Arquebus (talk) 17:02, 5 May 2021 (MDT)
- Well, alright. Tried not to change much, just streamlining, really. Fiddle with it where you see fit. --SwankyPants (talk) 17:19, 5 May 2021 (MDT)
- I really love the change you made to the raging part. I denerfed the other part about half way. I like the idea of once per short rest. Arquebus (talk) 12:51, 6 May 2021 (MDT)
- Glad to see you like it. And, on that revision, I feel like I should clarify a bit. Generally, you’ll only want one of the effects from the stance at any one time(maybe 2 if you’re a spellcaster), and even then the restriction of it using up reactions depowers it a fair bit. Making each of them usable once turns this from useful sometimes to useful once, and hardly worth the feat, unless you run some weird dexterity barbarian build. Just figured I should explain myself. --SwankyPants (talk) 12:56, 6 May 2021 (MDT)

The core idea is that poise and clear thinking gives you a number of benefits rather than just one, so based on the concept of the feat, you have all of the benefits of clear thinking and poise. Maybe this needs to be something other than a feat if concept with ramifications does not fit the feat archetype. Arquebus (talk) 15:02, 6 May 2021 (MDT)
I have decided to pull the Poised Feat as I would like it back into the Wardrober race as a feature, and revert the last change I made here to the design you like better as a Feat. Wardrober 'Poise' does not quite make it as a feat. However I thank you all very much for improving the wording and design of this. It has improved my race writeup :) Arquebus (talk) 17:11, 6 May 2021 (MDT)
