Talk:Harpy, Variant (5e Race)

Shouldn't raptor, owl, and nix harpies be lighter then a human? Since inorder to fly, they would need to be lighter. And im guessing this would mainly be from hollow bones. I think that the weight for those subraces should be lower then the one right now. Ace Of Space (talk) 01:33, 5 June 2020 (MDT)

I guess a lower weight overall makes sense? But harpy biology defies our understanding of it, in my opinion. But I guess lower than 80 pounds is a good number.--Yanied (talk) 11:07, 5 June 2020 (MDT)

Rollback[edit]

The recent changes have completely disregarded the templates, and removed templates, such as the racial traits template, in favor of raw HTML. In addition some features were wrote as though this is a creature, and not a race, and the '(kobold press tome of beasts)' seems to indicate this was copied from a book. Adoption/Updating?[edit]

I wanted to do a overhaul/Revamp of the entire race as I was going to add them to a campaign I'm currently making, along with just feeling that currently the page could use some TLC to be more in line with recent/similar WoTC content (yes, attempting to be somewhat balanced, though D&D never truly will be) kind of like I did over on the Lamia page. Jesari (talk) 03:48, 24 April 2021 (MDT)

I’m not sure if that’s necessary, to be honest. The race looks pretty solid. The flight speed isn’t completely out of wack, and none of the other traits are super crazy. Were there specific changes you had in mind? --SwankyPants (talk) 06:50, 23 April 2021 (MDT)
I second Swank's sentiment. If you mean more in-line with WOTC content like the UA, I don't think that's necessary, since UA is also just test material.--Yanied (talk) 22:07, 23 April 2021 (MDT)
Was partial rebalance/change what I feel is clunky (but thats subjective) and reflavoring/changing some of the sub races. Though a no is perfectly fine, I'll just make a homebrewery page or such for it. Jesari (talk)
Most of the traits are rather streamlined? Do you mean add more to it? I can understand a little if you mean it seems underpowered or something, with flying speed being a 5th level benefit at the very least.--Yanied (talk) 10:39, 24 April 2021 (MDT)

The life span[edit]

I feel it necessary for the harpy to have a long lifespan as I feel that 100 is a bit too short for creatures stated to have once served wind gods as a short lifespan at least by dnd standards would mean less time for them to serve there god and wouldn’t the god want them to live long to serve them longer?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gia (talkcontribs) . Actually, from older edition DnD, harpies only lived 25-50 years! It is a misconception that gods would want long lived servants. That is especially wrong in this case when harpies have a mixed bag of history with divinity.--Yanied (talk) 13:50, 5 November 2023 (MST)
