Talk:Bestiary (Shinobi World Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
It may just not be done yet, but where is Goku, I don't see him amongst the tailed beasts.
- Sorry about that, had some category problems. Should be fixed now.--Ref3rence (talk) 17:11, 19 January 2023 (MST)
Well he's with the tailed beasts, but also with the monkeys of Saiyuki Valley which I don't think happened. Figured out how to stamp--Azura (talk) 20:55, 19 January 2023 (MST)
- The Monkeys of Saiyuki Valley were added so that we had more than 3 sage regions. Monkeys were chosen based on some circumstantial evidence (Son Goku having the title "King of the Sage Monkeys", Enma being Hiruzen's summon while Hiruzen's students are each able to summon sage creatures, superficial similaritie. between the marks on Enma and Sage Mode Hashirama), while wolves (once I actually get around to making pages for them) were chosen based on popular fanon.--Ref3rence (talk) 21:24, 19 January 2023 (MST)
I'm particularly eager for the wolves, they are my favorite animals. Other than that I guess that makes sense, but I feel like a new king would have been picked since son goku has been sealed since the time of hashirama. Also if he was connected with the monkeys I feel like they would have done something about him being captured. It's not like Hashirama was malicious.
I think tailed beasts should be made colossal, or whichever size above gargantuan, as many of them are far more humungous than gargantuan, especially the likes of Kurama and Gyuki. P@uL (talk) 16:24, 24 June 2023 (MDT)
- While I could kinda see making Kurama and Gyuki specifically colossal, I'm unsure about it. The tailed beasts, Sannin boss summons, and Complete-Body Susano'o are all shown to be about the same size. If I'm not mistaken, the only colossal creature is the Shinsu Senju, which towers above Kurama (even while amped by a Susano'o), and the only titanic creatures are the ten-tails and Hagoromo's Susano'o, which are comparable in size and tower over the Shinsu Senju. The only way to make this scale work would be to introduce sizes above titanic, but I don't really think that's necessary.--Ref3rence (talk) 20:40, 24 June 2023 (MDT)
- At the start of Naruto, or in Minato's episode, Kurama was extremely huge, and so was Gyuki when he was fighting Sasuke and Co, I don't know if you'd noticed, but in the War Arc all the tailed beasts were much smaller than any of them were originally depicted, that said, Kurama was also extremely huge in relation to Naruto before he befriended him (where Kyuubi was always hoping to break free from Naruto), even up to the Pain arc, after being befriended (which is at the war arc I think), Naruto seemed to be much closer to his size.
- It could be brought down that since they are essentially chakra constructs the amount of chakra they have or whether they are trying to use their chakra forcefully (as Kurama always tried to get the slightest depletion of Naruto's chakra to go free) change their size.
- Another idea here is, when Kurama fought Minato his size was absurd, and he was even seen towering high above a whole forest, and that was before he was split into yin and yang halves, perhaps being split halved his size with his chakra, do with that as you will.

- The War Arc doesn't really play that big of a role in this discussion outside of the Ten-Tails being significantly bigger than the Shinsu Senju. Shukaku was shown to be relative to Gamabunta in the Konoha Crush, where they both towered over a forest like Kurama during Minato's flashback, and the Shinsu Senju towered over a similarly-sized full Kurama during the Hashirama vs Madara fight flashback. I don't doubt that the tailed beasts are massive, but we already have a good spread with the established 5 size categories above Medium.
- It's also important to note that with current rules (Mythic Monsters (5e Variant Rule) in particular), Gargantuan doesn't lock a creature to just a 4x4 grid space, they can be up to 8x8 before becoming Colossal (which ironically gives the DM some wiggle room to decide if they want the small WA tailed beasts or their full size depending on the scene). My biggest deterrent though is that introducing a size category above Titanic begs the question of when we should stop introducing bigger size categories in such a rule (Size Categories Higher Than Gargantuan (5e Variant Rule) is a pretty good example of just how absurd things would have to get in order to reach any meaningful end point past Titanic).--Ref3rence (talk) 20:23, 26 June 2023 (MDT)
I think there should be a generic version of ninjas with clans, for example a genin-rank Senju.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Haru (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
- I've actually been wanting to split the bestiary into general and named creatures (kinda like how Metal Gear (5e Campaign Setting) handles it) and this might be the exact idea I needed to do it, though it might take a day or two for me to get started.--Ref3rence (talk) 22:59, 18 March 2024 (MDT)
