A defensive technique developed by a bunch of bladesingers that thought shield wasn’t aggressive enough. You can add your spellcasting modifier to your ac against the triggering attack, potentially causing the attack to miss you. If the attack you used this reaction against misses, the attacker has disadvantage on its next saving throw against a spell and you can cast a 1st-level or higher spell with a casting time of 1 action as part of this reaction. The spell is cast using a separate spell slot from any used to cast this spell.
