A bubble of sticky acid appears in your hand, which you throw at a creature that you can see within range. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 3d8 acid damage and is covered in acid until the spell ends. While the creature is covered in acid, it takes 1d8 acid damage at the end of each of its turns and has a -1 penalty to attack rolls and to AC. A creature covered in acid can use its action to scrape or wash the acid off, ending the spell.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the initial damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the penalty increases to -2. When you use a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the penalty increases to -3.
